One thing about the 7/8 Octaves excersize: This excersize is always the first one played. It is meant to be played slow (quarter note equals 80-100) with two mallets at full-out hights using back fulcrum. The purpose of this is to stretch out the wrist in preparation for faster excersizes such as Dirt and Double Vertical Stroke.
