With a little disposable income I was gifted the opportunity to go shopping for a new toy, and since it initial release I’ve always had my eye on the Xmaxx, but was strongly advised to hold off and wait for this. My impatience got the better of me so I went out and bought the Xmaxx… and I’m glad I did! I absolutely love it!!. I drove my brothers XRT, and as awesome as it is… I like an rc that challenges you to keep it in control and upright, I don’t feel the XRT presents these challenges like the Xmaxx does… plus it’s not as robust as the Xmaxx
@@VtreyusV3 no regrets whatsoever! Going great with very few minor mods. All I’ve done in the way of upgrades is reinforced the shell with shoe glue and duct tape, drive shaft cup retainers (major weak spot) and the belted tyres upgrade. Even the stock ESC is still going strong 💪
The XRT V2 will have new wing bumper mount and new steering bell cranks. That’s the only two things that broke on mine. I used the steering upgrade from M2C and have had zero problems with that weak spot. Replaced wing bumper one 3D printed with a flexible filament. So far, so good.
This thing just set the bar a little bit higher, didn’t it? For those interested in over powering and modifying the truck: 1/5 scale servo is WAY easier to install The Max 5 combo fits with a radio box delete, and large aluminum motor mount. It does bottom out too easy, so fuel tubing bump stops will help save driveshafts and shock shafts, and 70-90 wt shock oil helps dampen the suspension. Increase front diff oil to 100 back to 300-500, and you can then get it to slide a bit more around turns. Super high density foam or soft rubber in the rear bumper mount helps it from breaking. Shoe Goo Fiba Tape on the body will increase the bodies life span. The seals/felt bushings around the driveshaft will help with dust migrating it’s way into the diffs. The wire guides Traxxas added are awesome. And yes, all of the above is unnecessary.
So many TH-camr have the XRT they always recommend to change the tires, with Brett you see how they perform, they rip make the XRT stable, but if you change for something with more grip that will some problem. Great platform that Traxxas create to show how strong is the rc with plastic only
Basically the truck I wanted shortly after buying an X-maxx(and realizing other then being huge it just handled like crap). Would of kept it if they just made a LCG chassis. 5 Years later, Traxxas finally made the truck I wanted then. This might be a long term thing though. Just can't justify the price of the truck and new electronics cause that servo and esc have to go.
Ha! You definitely did. That was the GPS speed meter that had been sticky taped to the back of the body. We turned that clip into a short you can see here: th-cam.com/users/shortsh1PEtr6yzhA -Brett
I could imagine if you put street tires on this, put shorter stiffer springs on it and put stiffer shock oil in it, it would be a great street basher/ jumper.
Mine was waiting on my door step when I got home last night. I haven’t driven it yet but I love it already, the body is really rigid and the way it mounts is pure genius.
Its cool and if I didnt have a Sledge and Xmaxx I might consider it, but I am happy with the Sledge and it doesnt really compare to the Xmaxx plus like you shown every review I have seen has ended up with a broken wing mount. Great review as always

Killer monster truggy. I’m not really a fan of the air scoops. Yea, cooling air is a good thing, but they scoop up a lot more than air. Whatever you run on or in, those scoops are inevitably going to inhale some of it. Sand, dirt, grass, gravel, snow/water. 90% of the time the air coming in from under the body is plenty when coupled with the twin fans. Bash on people🤙🏼🏁
