My uncle was at Angio😂 Beach and saw many other battles. He survived the war but came home a total mess - there was no mental health help in those days. He tried to commit suicide but his older brother managed to stop him. He lived to an old age and was very much loved in the family. So many served our country because they believed in the promise of the USA. Those heros seldom spoke about the horrors they saw but lived their lives bravely through the years. This program speaking of the military valor and bravery of the men and women who served is awe inspiring. Thank you for these reviews.
I was in the 6th Grade in the Post Children's School Fort Sill, Oklahoma with MSG Chilson's daughter. We had a class assignment to interview our Fathers about where they were on December 7, 1941 (this was 1961 20th anniversary) and what they did in the war. I will never forget when Marylin ( his daughter) brought in a picture of her dad with Audi Murphy. Department of the Army billed the pic as the two most decorated men of the European Theater and possibly of the entire war. It was a great honor to meet him a few weeks later and that spring I got to meet Audi Murphy. Truly great and humble men.

Wow... I love hearing first hand accounts that add to these stories. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your service!
My grandfather was one of four survivors along with Chilson in the plane crash in May of 1961
Wow, I'm glad to hear that. I appreciate you listening to his story and thank you for adding to the story!
Should have been awarded the MOH at least twice.
I agree completely!
If Chilson were an officer he would have been given the Medal of Honor.
The war dept was wrong. He did deserve the medal of honor as Pres Truman stated
I agree completely!
