Broadway in the Cotswolds is a picturesque village in Worcestershire, England, known for its charming honey-colored limestone buildings and beautiful landscapes.
Broadway's history dates back to medieval times when it was a busy stagecoach stop along the main route from Worcester to London. Its name "Broad Way" originates from the wide main street that allowed for easy passage of the coaches.
During the Middle Ages, Broadway prospered due to the wool trade. It became a market town where traders and merchants conducted business.
The village boasts stunning architecture from different periods, including medieval, Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian styles. Some notable landmarks include the Broadway Tower, a folly on a nearby hill, and the Lygon Arms, a historic inn dating back to the 16th century.
Broadway has attracted artists and writers over the years, including the American artist John Singer Sargent and the English composer Sir Edward Elgar, who found inspiration in the area's beauty.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Broadway became a popular tourist destination due to its idyllic setting in the Cotswolds. Efforts have been made to conserve the village's historic charm and architecture

I've been to England likely 25 times over decades (and a frequent visitor to the Cotswolds) but never at Christmas - what magic this looks like! I've firmly believed for a long time that I was really meant to be born there and it's a bit of an ache that I wasn't.

Like fairy land. I would have liked to see more of the shops. What I did see looked interesting. I was in Broadway with my husband and 3 small children in the summer of 1975. All the villages were perfect. I'm from Australia. Best Wishes.

How can you tell? Listen to the children laughing and see their smile
In America we don't do this. Instead, we lock up ourselves in our homes. My parents who came from Europe spoke about how people would go out and walk in the early evening just like what you are showing here. Beautiful Cotswolds in England. The people look festive and happy and joyful; very nice feeling. Thank you for sharing the walk.

The streets are happily lit up and many houses decorated too.
The store windows are attractive and well stocked; we must be spoiled for choice when it comes to Christmas shopping!!.
People are happy and everyone's good mood is noticeable.

This must surely go down as " A CLASSIC". The town council and shop owners have excelled with the Christmas lights, and you have certainly created a classic portrayal
of it here. Being taken into the shops, (which didn't have the incessant carols playing on a loop) is exceptional. The Horse and Hound looked particularly inviting and with the museum opposite I am tempted to see if they still have a vacancy! This video should be part of the British Tourist Board promotions If this doesn't encourage visitors here nothing will. Merry Christmas all.

Thanks for this, it looks great - however if I was to make a criticism of the village's decor I would say that there's not enough colour - the amber glow is nice but there's too much of it, more variety is needed with a mix of red, green, blue and yellow lights (either one colour per tree or a mixture). Other than that it's great to see people making a tasteful effort for a very nice effect.
I suppose it’s personal but I think it’s more classy
You won’t see red, green and blue lights in the countryside as it’s seen as tacky and cheap, people prefer to go with the neutral colour. Even outside of the countryside in Britain, people tend to go with one colour light and then red, gold baubles.
Such a beauty. Shame they can't build it like that anymore.

Beautiful but did we miss a Nativity Scene or was there one at all? This is the most pagan Christmas season we've ever experienced, Greetings from Canada.

Not sure if they do.
The lights go off at 11pm each evening and come on around 4pm ish . It's a beautiful village that I am incredibly lucky to have been born and bred in ❤

Sorry to say but Its just lights, noise from traffic, people looking glum as if there lost,I'm sorry but real Christian values standards etc,the people are walking about as if lost,,overhead motorway noise, cars double yellow lines" practically empty shops ?,etc but pubs are welcome for the "oh the usual English drink" I'm English, but I'm sorry we have lost or losing the Christmas spirit,people are walking about as if " hey how do we celebrate this Christmas occasion", and do you know why,they don't visit Church, read the bible etc ,hey not everyone, but lots don't, they more happy relaxed in benidorm,
