I have always related to your style . I’m in my 70’s and my quilting friends like warm darker colors, but me? Oh no, love me some Kaffe and Tula any day. Weird and quirky and strange are my comfort zones!
About 20 years ago I experienced rug hooking each week going to Gladys Hotchkiss’ home along with other older ladies to be instructed in the art of painting with wool. She taught us how to dye wool in gradient colors and how to choose just the right scrap from an old shrunken coat for the center of a flower. Maybe I’ll get that back out to work on as I never quite finished it. I’m notorious to bite off more than I can chew however I’ve come full circle to it. Anna when I found you as a fellow crafter on the lime green sofa I replaced the wayside uncertainty this crazy life offers to one with determination and focus and FOUND MY HEART AGAIN. (Incidentally I have a light green leather loveseat in my crafting space that becomes a little nest to sit in and sew, read or share a cup of tea with a friend. ) So here in Missouri USA, there is room for everyone world around to sit on the LIME GREEN SOFA where we can snack on cake and cookies that have NO calories and laugh and teach one another a new art or be reminded we are not alone and that quirky is a good thing. Kate , your ‘something of nothing’ crafts are not only good for the environment but tremendous for the soul. Love ya
This is the way my Mother made carpets when I was little ! Dad make the frame ! They came from Durham but we lived in Manchester when I was born. Thanks for the memory !
Kate, I found the frames! They are in the UK. Coleshill Accessories carries a "12 inch No Sew Slate Frame". It only comes in one size for no sew, fabric held in place by wood rods. I think it is the one that you have, side arms are 20 inches long.
I absolutely love those cat paws! My favorite thing on my cat is his little fat, fluffy white paws when he spreads them out to pat me to get my attention. I really enjoy watching your videos. It’s like hanging out with a friend. You even inspired me to start my first English paper piecing quilt. Just bought my hexagon templates and I’m picking out fabric now.
This looks like what we in USA call burlap. I made small one many yeats ago using wool clothes from Goodwill. Love your cute designs. Children's drawings could be saved this way.😊

I also have 10 different crafting and art projects going at once. I decided to go to your first video and watch them all from the start till now. Hi, Kate! Thank you for making room on your lime green coach for me ❤. I'm not a quilter, however, I love watching your quilting videos. I do knit and spin yarn and love those videos you have made as well. I did make a cat hooked rug and enjoyed my small project.

Hooking! I dabbled in it some years back, made a small rug. We had a neighbor when I was a child who made gorgeous, floral carpets. So beautiful. Your Keith Haring inspired mat reminds me of when I used to run a knitting group at the LGBT Center in Manhattan. There was a bathroom on the 2nd floor in which Keith had covered every inch of the walls with a libidinous (shall we say) mural. It was quite an eyeful. At some point after his death the bathroom was converted into another meeting room and our knitting group was sometimes assigned to this room. So there we were, a mix of men and women with our needles and yarn surrounded by Keith's fantastic mural! I believe there are pics somewhere on the web, but be forewarned, it's graphic. I love your mats, especially 'full English breakfast'.

I love relaxing things like that. That why I do hand embroidery when watching tv with my husband, or should I say when he’s watching tv. His taste in shows is different than mine so I need hand work.
The way you hold your frame against the table is exactly how I use my rigid heddle looms. I also like weird, especially your nine piece weird cacti collection.

She retained her english inflections of speech until she passed in 1997. I love listening to you talk . I have been trying to catch what day and time you show your new videos. missed you by almost 3 hours but I will catch you next week. I quilt, cross stitch, long arm quilt, and make clothes, I love to watch you and all of your projects and would love to learn how to do puddy work. Enjoy your days knowing that you have a watcher of 78 years of age that has a cup of tea every time i watch you. its April 2 2023 here, .
I love all of your weird and wonderful mats, but I admit that the pink man is my favorite. Very intriguing! You have such a great imagination, and I really like you ingenuity with the nails and corks.
I just watched your video from 3 years ago when you were putting a binding on the flying goose quilt. You asked where I heard of you. I had a random video from Arne and Carlos pop up on my television and they were talking about you and they were sitting on your lime green couch. That was 2 weeks ago. I have been watching you ever since. Thank you for brightening my day. Your videos have come into my life just when i needed them. Thank you. You might enjoy watching "My sewing room"
Thanks for demonstrating this technique. I have a kit. All the strips are pre-cut. I put it in a frame and couldn't figure out how to situate the frame so I could balance everything and still hook. Many artists making videos with this technique have expensive, free standing frames with legs. But I didn't want to invest in something so expensive for a first try. I'm going to try your method... Wish me luck! 💖🌞🌵😷
I LOVE your designs! I'm a huge fan of abstract designs that are really ALL about the colour!!! The simplicity means we can really focus on those bright and rich colours - perfect for the sort of wintry and blowy weather we've had recently. Can't wait to see these hanging on your wall - a set of these lovely little abstract pieces will look AMAZING together!!!! Thank you, as always, for sharing your fun. xxx
I love all the things you do. You inspired me with your hexie quilt. I have made two of them and started my little sister doing hers. Thank you for being there for me and others.
Ah, yes, that quilt is beautiful! And hexie quilting is how I found Kate! I was looking up how to do it for starters, and Kate's channel 💕was "recommended" by Google.
@@wendywilson1736 My sister wanted to do something easy but pretty as her first project in quilting. I have been quilting for years and she wanted to learn. My most ambitious quilt was the Grandmothers Flower Garden in queen size all done by hand which she loved. I just gave it to her and now she is making one of her own. She loves the hand piecing and will be hand quilting as I did. My little sister never did quilts. She is in her sixties. I love the fact that she wants to have this to work on since she retired. I'm going to be 79 years old.
My grandmother hooked rugs. Room size rugs with wool she dyed. I have her frame that my dad made for her as well as her home made hook and the strip cutting wheel. Your video has give me such a sense of deja vue.I can taste the tea and hear the snowy wind rattling the window panes. Thanks from way DownEast Maine on a very blustery wintry “Spring” evening ❤️
About 25 yrs ago, I took a Primitive Rug Hooking class (that's what they call here in the US, as opposed to Latch Hooking), at an historic site. What a lovely place to explore and sit and work. I made a chair pad, now we'll worn out and a square commemorating beloved pets (our dog had just passed). I loved it and still do. My frame is a metal one I bought in a weaving store. It's raised, so you can sit under it and work above your lap. That is still going strong too. Thanks Kate, for all the hints. When I started, it wasn't so difficult to get 100% wool clothing from friends or the thrft shop to wash, shrink, dry, and strip - nowadays, not so easy to find. So glad Arne and Carlos pointed me in your direction after they started watching you.
Love your rugs. I have a rug hooking frame, some panels, some wool, and a hook. I’ve made one but haven’t gone back to it. I should do that. I was about to get rid of my stuff since I haven’t touched it in so long. Now I think I can’t. 😂😂 you inspire me. I enjoy your show so much. Thanks.
I missed seeing your beautiful cats, who usually are all around you? Love hooky mats, and love the quirky ones you make, just my cup of tea! Love to you Kate, from a sunny Devon, England. xxx

I use a roller frame like that for all my hooking, needlepoint, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, stitching free-form onto hand-painted canvases etc. such a GREAT tool!! No hoops unless absolutely required. I’ll try to find you the link you were wondering about.
Haven’t hooked in awhile so I went and pulled out in unfinished piece to play around. Took a few tries to keep it from twisting but am going to finish it. I consider my self a newbie but it’s fun to do.
Kate, can't you ask John to whittle you some pegs? That way you won't hurt yourself on the nails, great ideas as always. I hope your class went well at the quilt festival ❤
I love Rug hooking and have a Cheticamp frame I work on. Famous Canadian Cheticamp, is a place I. Eastern Canada which became famous for the Rugs hooked there. A great meditative craft! Punch needle is really fun too!
My first thought for where you might have put the pegs, was in the fabulous wall of drawers. That was such fun watching you sort through them. They might be due again? Best project to do while the snow melts. Happy week, Kate. Thanks for the pleasurable time with you. PS: I think the hairy carrot is a bug, haha. And the sun on a snowy day. Till we meet again.
Beautiful project! I can’t wait to try my hand at it with my granddaughter. By the way, we had rain Friday night then 10 inches of snow in Wisconsin Saturday. Sunshine and melting today. 😊 thank you for this show!

New watcher it's like I've found a friend Thank you
i love the simplicity of this sort of craft...almost like child art. i love the art children do. its free and real. this fits in that i feel. love it
Thx kate. Love love the colours and randomness. You go❤❤
This reminds me of hook latching, something I did many years ago but with yarn.
I love all of your weird and wonderful mats, but I admit that the pink man is my favorite. Very intriguing! You have such a great imagination, and I really like you ingenuity with the nails and corks.
Very interesting. I missed you last week, Kate. I'm glad you're back.
Very pretty. Looks relaxing. Thanks Kate
You are so good at explaining! I enjoy your videos so much. They always inspire me to do something...
Thank you. You might enjoy watching "My sewing room"
how lovely! xxx welcome
What a simple and fun art! You are just brilliant! Take care Kate😊
Hi Nancy, how's your day going with you?
Thanks for demonstrating this technique. I have a kit. All the strips are pre-cut. I put it in a frame and couldn't figure out how to situate the frame so I could balance everything and still hook. Many artists making videos with this technique have expensive, free standing frames with legs. But I didn't want to invest in something so expensive for a first try. I'm going to try your method... Wish me luck! 💖🌞🌵😷
The mats are brilliant Kate.
I've just found your videos which I think are great I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes a pink kitchen definitely my favourite colour
Thank you, as always, for sharing your fun. xxx
This is super cool. I just know the one where you pull the small pieces through. This looks much nicer than the loose frills😂
You a wild and crazy woman! I love it! You’ve inspired me once again 🎉
Hi Martha, how's your day going with you?
Looks like fun. I think I will give it a go. Thank you, Kate ❤
Hi Pam, how's your day going with you?
Your strange is delightful!!!
I have never seen this work before! Very pretty and Interesting
I love that! I’ve never seen anything like it. Thank you. 😊👏
Hi Jenni, how's your day going with you?
Love your rugs. I have a rug hooking frame, some panels, some wool, and a hook. I’ve made one but haven’t gone back to it. I should do that. I was about to get rid of my stuff since I haven’t touched it in so long. Now I think I can’t. 😂😂 you inspire me. I enjoy your show so much. Thanks.
You have got a good rhythm started. Fun pieces.
You made me laugh when you said we got a big dump of snow.😂😂😂I’m so glad “early spring” is finally here in Ct. USA
Ahhh never to old to learn a new craft! 🍁👍👍🦋🌈
I missed seeing your beautiful cats, who usually are all around you? Love hooky mats, and love the quirky ones you make, just my cup of tea! Love to you Kate, from a sunny Devon, England. xxx
Cta Rita is pretty unwell just now and sleeps a lot - Sadie is always outside - I miss Norma xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse I am so very sorry to hear about Rita cat, and I know how much you must miss Norma, as when I lost my Charlie dog 3 years ago now, my heart was broken. xxx
I use a roller frame like that for all my hooking, needlepoint, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, stitching free-form onto hand-painted canvases etc. such a GREAT tool!! No hoops unless absolutely required. I’ll try to find you the link you were wondering about.
You are something Kate - always a new surprise up the sleave - Chapeau ❤
I ❤ all of these, and the stories behind them. Thank you so much for sharing, Kate 💚
Hi Heather, how's your day going with you?
i love these designs, they are all funky...
I was just going to say the same 😅
@@samwright8599 great minds and all that🤣🤣🤣
that's a great idea - the festival is in August - still a long way off yet! but thank you xxx
I love Rug hooking and have a Cheticamp frame I work on. Famous Canadian Cheticamp, is a place I. Eastern Canada which became famous for the Rugs hooked there.
A great meditative craft! Punch needle is really fun too!
Finally able to see a current video. Been watching from 4 years. Almost up to 2 years ago!
It's almost hypnotic as it grows in front of you.
Till we meet again.
yep! that's where they are alright! and yep - they need doing again! ha ha! xxx
Hi, Kate. So nice to see you.
Merry Christmas
It is always a pleasure watching and learning the various arts you share with us, plus the cup of tea that waits….
Beautiful project! I can’t wait to try my hand at it with my granddaughter. By the way, we had rain Friday night then 10 inches of snow in Wisconsin Saturday. Sunshine and melting today. 😊 thank you for this show!
