So, how do you know with certainty that the voices provided by Streamlabs never used any machine learning under the hood? As far as I know, those voices were developed by IVONA, which was later bought by Amazon and turned into Amazon Polly. The Amazon site on Polly states: "How it works ... Amazon Polly uses deep learning technologies to synthesize natural-sounding human speech" I am not sure whether this applies to the original IVONA voices, though.

Off the bat, I was trying to tie Sly Cooper into it somehow - fuck was I excited. AC was my second thought, the furniture placement later on confirmed.
Can I come in to make a comment that APB was a game I put 3k hours into and it was amazing. It was rereleased shortly after by another company and it did well under them. It’s one of the most iconic games in my life and defines like 6 years of it. The servers are still up, there’s still a playerbase (though was admittedly hit hard in the last few years in the face of actual GTA MMO)
That's APB Reloaded, not the original. I tried it over a decade ago and I found it to be terribly p2w + some PvP missions had stupid exploits. Struck me as a greedy game on life support. I heard the original wasn't like this and I still think it's a very nice concept.

my person favorite thing about the day before was from the youtube stream by Kaif, who ended up finding a way to dupe ammo and money. This allowed them to just go into the world with the best gear, also the first hour of "gameplay" was sitting in the menu trying to get into a server.
To be fair, I believe IGN was _also_ the thing that infamously gave a game a 7/10 rating because it had "too much water", so I'm not sure you should be using them as a frame of reference for how bad the reception for the game was.

apb reloaded was amazing with friends! we fucked around on that game for hours, but we wouldn't do any missions. we'd drive around in trash trucks just hauling ass, then run over as many other players as we could. we also would take busses and trash trucks and bring them to the longest road in the game, and just drive into each other like jousting and witness the remaining explosion. that game was a lot of fun.

I contacted him recently, only to learn he also pre-ordered The Day Before, with plans to buy 5 years of subscription time immediately if it had a subscription model. He clearly never learned the lesson.

Matrix Online had similar issues when it was launched and was also why it died. IE, It really was released too early. It had game breaking bugs that where reported in beta but where not fixed before launch, ect... Same thing for another MMO called Vanguard and to a similar degree Warhammer Online also went that way. ( Warhammer Online lived a little longer than the other two but still died out. ) Its something that makes me feel sad a bit because all of the ones I mentioned here where really fun games. Game dev here, I can say with a fairly high amount of certainty that the reason they closed was they had a deal with a production company to be financed based on sales. When they had a 40% return rate the investor backed out
MMOs are probably the most common canceled game type the amount of MMOs that are announced by small to unknown developers which most of them are scams or have extremely predatory monetization then shut down after they have your money. MMOs are by far the most expensive and complicated games to make there’s a reason why there’s only two major MMOs right being World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 which the first version of FF14 failed and even the giant companies like Amazon fail such with their MMO New World which while promising at first was plagued with exploits and bugs then they changed how gear works rendering crafting pointless. In short any company especially smaller one saying they’re making a MMO you should be extremely hesitant.

The craziest part of this, funny enough, is that some of the team of "volunteers" who worked on this, actually did apparently want to patch this sinking ship after the brothers jumped off and ran like rats, but it shut down for good *the day before* they finished the patch. Sadly, that's like trying to patch up the Titanic with duct tape _AFTER_ it's already hit the iceberg and split in half. Or so I've heard from some other people covering the shit show that was this.
You might be surprised to hear that there have been some that lasted even shorter, though they're pretty obscure. Mostly games made by kids who didn't know what they were doing built off the Impressive Title source code.

The craziest part of this, funny enough, is that some of the team of "volunteers" who worked on this, actually did apparently want to patch this sinking ship after the brothers jumped off and ran like rats, but it shut down for good *the day before* they finished the patch. Sadly, that's like trying to patch up the Titanic with duct tape _AFTER_ it's already hit the iceberg and split in half. Or so I've heard from some other people covering the shit show that was this.

You might be surprised to hear that there have been some that lasted even shorter, though they're pretty obscure. Mostly games made by kids who didn't know what they were doing built off the Impressive Title source code.
