Please note rule 8.23 regarding return fire…The non phasing unit cannot use return fire if it used entry reaction fire against that same firing unit..Basically when an enemy unit enters your Zoc you have to decide do I fire now or wait till he fires on me.
Maybe. I actually agree more with the old wording. I don't think a unit should be able to move up (getting shot) and then halt to fire without drawing more potential fire. It gets fuzzier with the elephants or horse archers though.

That must have been added in 5th edition. Definitely not in mine.

My best guess is that he would waver between arguments. He didn't strike me as someone who really nailed it all down ever.
