Saving Memories on VHS Mold - Video Tape Restoration Project Will it Play Ok?

In this video, Phil removes heavy mold from a VHS tape that has been stored in an attic in humid conditions, and possibly once was in a flood and put away wet many decades ago so this video will show the step-by-step painstaking process of removing the mold, cleaning video tapes, and then digitizing the VHS tape to a MP4 file to be then put on for USB drive and uploaded to the cloud also. Hi Phil. Another great video. I have my first mouldy tape. I have had it apart and cleaned the spools as you show in the vdieo. The box you use to run it through, is that something you had built or can you buy them? I am more than happy to invest in one. Cheers 🙂

Yes! I do wear a mask and eye coverings now. Thanks for asking lol! I try to remind people with moldy tapes when they balk at what I charge, I tell them I’d rather not do them and I’m risking my health to save their memories, which most of the time was the result of their carelessness.

Do you do Betamax tapes ?

Yes. If you search Betamax mold on the channel there’s a few videos. Even perfectly preserved Betamax formats are #1 for problems.
