    As a ucla fan, nothing makes me happier than to see Jaime kickin ass in the league. I’m not surprised at all, at ucla he was the center of attention every game. When he would post up, he would get multiple bigs swarming on to him because he was the best player on the court. That’s not the case anymore in the league and if you put a small on him in the post it’s night, night and if you put a slower big on him, he’s gonna beat him off the bounce. I wish he got a chip at ucla and would’ve if it wasn’t for injuries, but I’m looking forward to seeing him be an all star in the league.

    We are very proud of this kid. He gives it 110 % of his hard work on the court and the passion he has for the sport. We have watched him play for many years now. When he played on the Mexican Basketball Team in 2019 LIMA Pan American Games and at UCLA. Miami Heat made a great choice. Wishing the entire team much success. We sure miss him in Los Angeles - where he carries out a pretty large following fan base. We wish him only but the best.

    Triple J! UCLA Bruin fan here. I think the knock on Triple J coming out of college was that he did not have much of an upside- he played well at the D1 level, but sometimes D1 level points and other bball skills don't translate to the NBA. Also, Triple J would participate in the Rico Hines summer runs at UCLA. When you watched Triple J competing against NBA players like Paul George, Pascal Siakem, and Scottie Barnes you could see those guys just seemed to be at a higher athletic level. It didn't surprise me that Jaime fell out of the top 10 in the draft and I give Rob Pelinka a pass for drafting Hood-Scofino ahead of Triple J. You are right to point out how much better his shooting has gotten and when I watched him at Pauley Pavilion, I can't remember seeing the excellent footwork he shows at the elbow right now. There is a great video where folks can see Jaime training last summer with fellow UCLA alumnus Don McClean. The summer work paid off. Really happy to see Jaime doing so well in the pros.

    • @tnekeroom9897
      @tnekeroom9897 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @gbru he is an underrated athlete though. He got hurt his junior year and had to transition to an old man post up game. Before that though, he was an athletic rim attacker on the final four team. His senior, he was both and I thought the best player in the country. If Clark and Bona don’t go down in the final weeks of the season, I know that ucla would’ve won the championship and JJJ would’ve been the best player on the team

    • @2genders-tk2ue
      @2genders-tk2ue ปีที่แล้ว

      Saying that a young player that is playing well doesn't have a upside was also ridiculous to me....I feel like sport "analysis" say that when they aren't prepaid...its like a cop out.

      @speachless88 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do agree that he does not have much upside I see his potential as already capped but his current production is extremely high which has surprised everyone. He dribbles with an unathletic style where you can tell that he looks and feels uncomfortable but somehow it works for him and I say he rides this train as long as he can stay on it.

    • @socratesfan7307
      @socratesfan7307 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair, there are not many guys that could catch up with Paul George and Siakem's atheleticism. His shooting was not that good because he played with his bad ankle in his junior season and was always double team in his junior and senior season. With a bit more luck, he would have brought us another national championship banner. JJJ has really made us proud. Go Bruins.

    Players like Jaquez and Desmond Bane prove that the NBA's obsession with drafting underclassmen who've never done anything is silly and short-sighted. 'oh, he hasn't been good enough to declare early...' Well, maybe they didn't want to leave school early. We can make a long list of one and dones who never did anything in the NBA. I'd rather have results than potential any day.

    Age old mistake in the draft. Athleticism offers a safety net in not having to polish as many skills. It can be a get out of jail free card or distinguisher when skills are equal. But in the exact same token there are plenty of superstars (the best player on the planet rn case and point) that demonstrate that isn't a prerequisite. The draft often acts as it is. The same goes with the trajectory of secondary or tertiary strength players when prospects not being able to evolve into stars. Its a fluid line and happens fairly regularly.
    I understand scouting knack and feel on different levels can be dubious but teams would be wise to try to discern the safety net of players whose effectiveness is not predicated on their 10% percent outcome as well. I don't know how good Jaime is going to get, but he will be a plus contributor whatever level it shakes out at. And from what it looks like currently that could be an all star or a 4th option are all possibilities. Regardless he will be a solution for winning teams, and is going to play in meaningful games over his career. The guy has cut so much fat out of his game already to synthesize making just good basketball decisions possession by possession. Maybe my own philosophy but you add enough of that type and your job gets way easier and good things happen. Really look forward to watching him grow.

      I’m a UCLA alum and Laker fan and I am pissed that the Lakers didn’t draft J3 when they had the opportunity.
      It would have been great all around for the Lakers - local kid (grew up in Ventura County and starred at UCLA) playing for his hometown’s NBA franchise. It would have increased the already high fan support for the Lakers. Like I said I am a life long Laker fan (like Jaime I also grew up in So Cal) and I would have loved to have seen Jaime play for the Lakers. It would have been a win-win situation!
      J3 also showed the wisdom of staying for 4 years in college to further develop his game and achieve some maturity to deal with the long grind of the NBA season. Jaime’s maturity and extra years of experience in college allowed him to make an immediate contribution to the Heat.

      Ranking somebody lower because they are older is crazy work😂 If anything it should be the other way around💯

      lol! ranking players is not by age, its about their skills and IQ. look at MJ he went to college first, drafted at age 21.

      @@tristangene age absolutely factors in to drafting a player. MJ wasnted drafted at 18 because the league had rules against it. did you see all the 18 year olds who got drafted this year??? y'all are either 6 year olds, or just plain dumb.

      How can you say Jaime is a “flash in the pan”?
      He is playing great and is very consistent. He works hard on his game and is just getting started.
      In time Jaime will prove his worth and long term value.

    I don’t think he’s out playing anything. He’s simply a BASKETBALL player!!! Key word , basketball player. These scouts know nothing about basketball. Drafting on potential is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. 90% of these lottery pics, have no basketball IQ.

    It's amazing how much people praise Jaime yet keep saying his name wrong 😂.
    'Hi' (hi/hello) then 'meh' 🤷. Hi-meh. Jaime.
