Just playing with this a bit. If the Mets somehow were to get Arraez does he automatically become your lead off hitter moving Lindor from there and making him the number 2?
    Does it automatically become
    Arraez
    Lindor
    ?
I don't think they're getting Arraez. The thing I like about him is that you know he's hard to strike out. I can envision the picture of him leading off for the Mets with Lindor batting number 2.
If Pete comes back I'd bat Nimmo number 3. Pete cleanup and Soto number 5 with Vientos number 6.
Then I'd keep Winker and bat him behind Vientos as the DH against righties. If they keep Marte I'd bat him DH behind Vientos and I'm keeping my eyes open to see if Mauricio is going to be in the picture.
Then Alvarez would bat behind Winker, Marte or Mauricio. Siri would be last. That's a steller and power packed lineup. I know they're not getting Arraez. I'd be really surprised. But it's nice to look at how the lineup could be with Arraez leading off. I don't mind.
    Arraez 2B
    Lindor SS
    Nimmo LF
    Alonso 1B
    Soto RF
    Vientos 3B
    Winker/Marte/Mauricio DH
    Alvarez C
    Siri/Taylor CF
Looks nice right? The thing I do like about this is that Arraez is an official leadoff hitter. An official table setter. And he would have Lindor behind him. I really like Nimmo 3rd and Pete is just your top power dog so you gotta bat him 4 and now you have the best lefty bat in the business to finally protect him.
Then the rising animal in Vientos. It'd be nice to see how he'd respond to protecting Soto for a full season. That boy is definitely going to hit 30+ homeruns next season. But I know he's probably going to flirt with his 1st 40 homerun season as soon as next year if he's healthy all year.
    He can definitely protect Soto.

Arraez would be a perfect table setter for this team to go along with Lindor. The Mets dont need Pete. They can get by with a better situational hitter to protect Soto. Pete held the team back, he didnt make the most of his opportunities.

I’m so over Pete already. Off season is not about him. If we get him then fine but there so many options.
