Today is my one week mark and getting ready to start selling on the floor on sat. New to car sales but over 20 years of sales experience in wealth management. I’m stressing because my dealership does not get foot traffic. I only have a hand full of leads I’m working thus far.
I’ve been selling cars for 3 months, started in March too. First month I sold 21 and my second month was 24.5. I’m at 15 cars currently and should break 20 again (a bit slower this month for me, they hired more sales people too.) My top guy right now this month has over 30, and last month’s top guy had over 40, but these guys have been selling for a few years. 30 is great, not downplaying the kid at all, keep it up.
Amazing podcast boys! Cory’s story aligns with mine a lot from starting in detail to starting to sell cars my senior year. I am now a year and some months in the car business is now 21
Hopefully Cory is banking some money. Maybe a years worth of living expenses in a high yield savings account and 10 - 20% in a Roth IRA/401k. Put the money into an S&P 500 or Total Stock Market Index fund. His 50 year old self will thank him.
@@HostileMango-t6pFirst, be sure you have enough taxes withheld. Commissioned sales and bonuses are withheld at a constant rate, which is frequently too low if you are able to save 10k in a month. Second, be sure you have good medical insurance, and start thinking about disability insurance. Build up an emergency fund for slow months. Pay off any high interest debt. Then, start planning for life events, like retirement, buy a house or car, take a vacation, or other similar big expenses. There are plenty of apps where you can keep track of whether you are on plan for those expenses. You want to diversify your investments, initially with broad index funds with low expenses. Most of the companies with the apps want you to invest through them, they may have good options, they may not.
I oprned my own dealership in Parucah KY with $600 in initial incrstment and cleared over a half million dollars in sales in 6 months, ended up being sbout 25 or 30 sales per month.
I’m 23 and in the process of opening up my own dealer. Would you be free to having a conversation about what you would go back to tell yourself when first starting.
@@Brian.Martin That depends on a few factors such as whether were talking about a brand new car dealership or a used one, if these are foreign or domestic vehicles, what brand truck they are and if they're considered to be luxury or exotic vehicles. However, for the most part, it's been my experience that salespeople are paid on a 70/30 split commission of what the dealership profits on the vehicle sold.
I’m a a first responder in my state in Florida. Went to a Chevrolet dealership ref a panic alarm. They were trying to sell me a 2024 Tahoe for $70k. I decline and noticed on the vehicle inventory Chevrolet had 15-25 suv tahoes sitting on the lot for 20-67 days. The car market is too high and ppl can’t afford vehicles in the USA. So when I see videos with ppl saying they selling 30 cars a month. Yeah right. Men lie women lie numbers dont.
I used to sell cars for fun for a little bit at a dealership, now I’m back in the medical field, but when I did work at the dealership, I genuinely had a couple of coworkers who were consistently hitting 25-30 cars a month, but typically I was selling only 15/month which was very average
I work in the dealer next door, never did car sales and did 15 in my 1st 13 days. Im no young man so i got alot of life experience but no sales experience. I think i sold like 28 my 1st 4 weeks. We slowed down some but soon as i learn a little more things will get better.
Smart guy. In the best case someone in college is getting booksmarts, but not likely. In the normal scenario they're wasting a lot of time at a premium expense. Becoming good at sales and being in a strong position to buy a house at 19 is a decade or more further than those taking a loan for "education" and renting.
I like this content but I want to know how he got his leads. Is he at a high-volume store, is he amazing at cold-calls, or does he leverage his network? A lot of people seem to be good at sales, but not marketing.
I did 20 my first month out the box. In the uk and have been doing it for the past 20 years. My best month has been 40 or so. I sell over 250 cars a year and get paid F ALL. The UK is brutal. They don’t want to pay you they don’t want to give you time off and will F you at every chance they get.
hey brother enjoying your shows. Looking to get a first time Lease 2024 i5 eDrive40 in Brooklyn Grey(rear but available color). Ideally No money down, there are $7,500 electric BMW rebate and then some other rebate of $2,750, total of $10K. Can you help us in our first lease? I don’t want to be laughing stock for people. I learned from your show there will be some other BMW warranties I should get which will jack up my monthly leave by $70-100 per month. I have been waiting for mid 2024 so that there are plenty specially 2025 just around the corner. I almost bought one MSRP was $73K, dealer was giving me $10K discounts Plus (listen to this) only 1% Sales Tax versus 6.25% ( Sales Tax rate in good old Texas), shocked|surprised of $3K-4K of additional savings. Thanks 🙏🏼 in advance!** I was trying to negotiate on MSRP, starting price as close to invoice price of 6-8% discount. So, that I can have lower payments. My supposedly Out The Door(OTD) with all taxes were $64,506 for 12K lease payment of $929 a month.
Honestly I never fill out the survey as my time is money. Maybe that’s why I only go where the best deal is not about the sales person. The only time I have filled it out is when I got scammed by the dealership.

Young kids like this always do well when they start. Its being consistent thats tough. The hours and customers start to burn you out
And when they learn too much and pick up bad sales habits.

Wait until Kia sees this and fucks the dealership for prepping the customer for their survey.

The OEM doesn't care, but google does. They're happy to unlist you from search and cancel all your advertising contracts. That will be a problem.
