    Has anyone tried grinding Asian carp up for children feed. They are very plentiful and invasive over here. I've tried to feed them whole with not much luck. My chickens love venison scraps in the winter so I was hoping they would eat fish as well, but I haven't tried grinding them up yet. Great job on the video!!👍

    The bag idea was genius, glad it ended up working out! Great video! Love the drone shots! 😃

    That's such a great idea...I'm in South Africa...and lots of corn (mielies) here. Just brilliant out if box thinking.
    Lots of hard (white) corn, which isn't great to eat on cob (vs sweet corn). And really cheap, if not processed.
    Thanks so much!!
    (And you get the composting thing as well) I'm all for least cost/more efficient ways of doing things...esp the mundane stuff.👍👍👍

    I have been feeding mine (I only have 8) a cup of whole kernel corn, black oil sunflower, and rolled oats for about 2 weeks now. They are spoiled after eating all the 🍇 that fell into run. My vines are on south side of chicken run and grow over top for shade. Anything they can reach is fair game. They prefer the red over green or purple but will eat all.

    You have given me an idea. I can grow me some form next year and do this for fodder to feed my chickens and Guineas.

      I don’t know that there is enough nutritional value to use it as your only feed source, but it can definitely drive your feed cost way down

    This is exactly what I have been wanting to do! Just with the husks removed prior to the grinder as cattle feed!

      It worked great!

      Cows will eat the husk also, along with stalk. Always turn the cows into the field after I pick it

    Great thinking. I can see adding other greens or compost-related foliage as well. Has this use of corn increased your rodent invasion rate?

    • @ChanyataFarm
      @ChanyataFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fortunately where we are geographically, that isn’t a huge problem. We also have cats patrolling our farm, and we store all surplus feed in rodent proof containers

      That is the tank room for the solar powered water collection system. There are a couple of videos about building it on the channel if you want to check them out!

      Just with a small length of rope

    I can grind my corn and cobs together and feed to my chickens,?

    • @ChanyataFarm
      @ChanyataFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cob is mostly just filler, but it won’t have any negative effects on your chickens. For us, it just adds material to the deep bedding, mulch we like to keep in our runs

    • @lucygoosey9040
      @lucygoosey9040 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChanyataFarm Just came across your video today. The cobs have a fair amount of protein in them, so they're more than just filler. Thanks for the video.
