We here in Oz were really spoiled when it comes to Jesus Christ Superstar - in the 70s we had Marcia Hines, Jon English & Trevor White (& Stevie Wright & John Paul Young)... and then in the 90s we had Kate, John and Jon (& Russell Morris & in the chorus - John's bandmate Lindsay Field).

Love this. So many fabulous voices. Kate Ceberano started out in the business when she was just 13 and New Zealand born Jon Stevens when he was around 16. I'd never heard of Jon until I saw him in a musical play many years ago in which he starred and I was blown away by his voice and what can you say about John Farnham... always brilliant ❤

The entire cast were superb, and of course, in my opinion, John was his usual mind-blowing self. There is still so much more of John's music that you haven't heard yet. I'm going to join your patreon, not only because I think you are a wonderful human being, and I want to support your channel, but also because I want to show you more of John's music and personality. Just an update on John. Although John hasn't been seen in public, his son's say he's doing well and singing around the house. Just recently, 'Finding The Voice,' a documentary about John's life and struggles to become the superstar he is, won an award. His sons and Gaynor Wheatly were there and looked so proud. Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy performed a stirring tribute to John. They sang 'Burn For You' and 'You're The Voice'. There was a big screen behind them, and while they were singing, they showed clips of John from his concerts singing the same songs. It was truly beautiful. I'm sure John was watching at home and crying like I was.

This was such an amazing show to see live. Performed in the round with a revolving outer stage. And such an incredible cast with careers spanning over the decades. Bought the Judas tshirt with a large as life Jon Stevens on the front after the show, got home, turned it inside out & slept in it that night 😍, hubby was not inpressed 🤣 Do yourself a favour Charlie, & find the complete live production here on youtube, performed at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, you won't be disappointed. 😉👍

It's perfectly okay to dig Kate. She's completely gorgeous. This was live and John hit that note nearly every night doing the show. Kate and John and are national treasures. Jon is a shared treasure across both NZ and Australia. In the show there were other notable performers that don't appear here. Many consider this the best version of JCSS ever. This is why. I may listen to this regularly. Jon and Kate are touring this in October - we managed to get tickets. I've seem both live - but never together. Beyond excited. BTW the 'Willy' is Wilbur Wilde who was the saxophonist in the House Band for this show and also a member of a few well known bands back in the day. For Kate, check out her funk pop band 'I'm Talking' as well as her solo stuff.

This was a musical that made me fall in love with musicals - I saw it with this cast when I was 9 years old and I still listen to the soundtrack to this day. I saw Jon & Kate there a year or two before lockdown... brilliant!! Kate's brother, Phil, also did a set & he's just as awesome as his sister. Sadly I never had the pleasure of seeing John live.
G'day Charlie, Not sure if you noticed, but among the chorus was the "Real Thing" Russell Morris (wearing purple and green), and Lindsay Field, sitting next to Jon Stevens. At the time of this production in 1992, I was busily raising my sprogs so, unfortunately, I couldn't really afford to go to concerts and shows but would have loved to see it, having seen the 1975 production when our school choir were lucky enough to be invited to see JCS in Sydney... I think I must be in the extreme minority of those who didn't get to see John live but did thoroughly enjoy when we got to see him on the telly. Now that I can afford the odd outing every now and then, unfortunately I'll never get to see him live, following his brave and successful fight against cancer. I am however most grateful for the wonders of modern technology that allows us to enjoy his music whenever and wherever at the touch of a button. Much love to John, his beautiful Jilly, and their amazing boys. 🥰🫂💓 🙃🐨🇦🇺 p.s. also shout out to Daryl Somers and Ozzie Ostrich,,, and the incredible Ernie Carroll, who was Ozzie's "handler" for all those years 😉

Kate Ceberano has beautiful body movements which I suspect she inherited from her father, Tino Ceberano. He’s in his 80s now, renowned as a master of karate. He’s a Filipino who was born in Hawaii. Kate’s mother is Australian. Many of us here are aware that a lot of Filipinos have a natural talent for being good musicians, singers and/or dancers. They’re also known to be excellent chess players.
You need to add Jon English too. He was also amazing. I didn’t find out this was on stage until it was too late to get tickets. I was also stuck in the desert working with my husband for two years and connecting flights would have been a nightmare. It had to have been filmed, I think it might be time to search. Cate is some more amazing talent the world needed to share more of. Thank you.

Not sure if you noticed, but among the chorus was the "Real Thing" Russell Morris (wearing purple and green), and Lindsay Field, sitting next to Jon Stevens. At the time of this production in 1992, I was busily raising my sprogs so, unfortunately, I couldn't really afford to go to concerts and shows but would have loved to see it, having seen the 1975 production when our school choir were lucky enough to be invited to see JCS in Sydney...
I think I must be in the extreme minority of those who didn't get to see John live but did thoroughly enjoy when we got to see him on the telly. Now that I can afford the odd outing every now and then, unfortunately I'll never get to see him live, following his brave and successful fight against cancer. I am however most grateful for the wonders of modern technology that allows us to enjoy his music whenever and wherever at the touch of a button.

Saw the production with Trevor White, Jon English and Michelle Fawdon. It was just as great as this rendition on " He, Hey, It's Saturday"! ....and still got the vinyl record!

Kate Ceberano has beautiful body movements which I suspect she inherited from her father, Tino Ceberano. He’s in his 80s now, renowned as a master of karate. He’s a Filipino who was born in Hawaii. Kate’s mother is Australian. Many of us here are aware that a lot of Filipinos have a natural talent for being good musicians, singers and/or dancers. They’re also known to be excellent chess players.
The real star of this is Kate Ceberano. So serene.

You need to add Jon English too. He was also amazing. I didn’t find out this was on stage until it was too late to get tickets. I was also stuck in the desert working with my husband for two years and connecting flights would have been a nightmare. It had to have been filmed, I think it might be time to search. Cate is some more amazing talent the world needed to share more of. Thank you.
Three of the most amazing voices ever, please check out more of Kate you won't be disappointed. Also check out Noiseworks ,Jon was the lead singer of this band. I recently got to see Kate and Jon live (2023) still as amazing as ever. Another hi band favourite of mine are the Screaming Jets worth a listen. We have so many amazing artists past and present.

Kate is stunning in this performance. She was perfect in the role. And unlike double denim, double John/Jon works so beautifully. Both powerhouse singers, and they brought such life and emotion to their roles as Judas and Jesus.

Great choice. I was privileged to see the show, JC Superstar concert in the round version, and I'd seen JC stage versions twice before, with stellar casts, but this presentation was the best. You can see the entire concert, filmed on the last night of the Sydney production with Tim Rice, who wrote the lyrics, in the audience, so they were really on their A-game. Did you notice Russell Morris and Lindsay Field in the cast as well? Russell had a huge hit in the 70’s ? Wth The Real Thing and Lindsay of course was Farnsey’s backing singer for many years. They were all the crème de Le crème at the time. ❤️
