  • Today they let me know that they were ready to move the slide up a rung. They spent at least half an hour doing only this. I tried to tell them they could slide even faster with pants on, but they didn't want to stop long enough to put them on. Felix in stripes.

Your kids are dare devils 😂
    How cute!
I just bought the triangle, arch and straight board.
    She hasn’t seen it yet.
She doesn’t climb much. So I’m hoping this will jump start her climbing abilities.

Only thing that worries me are the toys around the triangle/below the slide. If there's a fall, it hurts more to land on a wooden toy than on the floor.

Oh my gosh. Stumbled across this video because i am looking for a pickled triangle. Little did I know i would come across two identical twin read heads. My twin boys are identical red heads! and I also have one that is very strong willed like your LO! What a trip!

We found a local carpenter who was willing to make it based on similar versions I found online, because I couldn't find any that shipped affordably. Things may have changed since, or depending on where you live. They go by lots of names -- climbing frame, Montessori climbing triangle, Pikler triangle, etc -- so mix up your search words and keep trying!

I loved this video. What height would you recommend for an 18 month old? I’ve found 34 inches tall and 40 inches tall.

Hi, Viridiana. First, remember I'm NOT an expert -- I'm just a parent who saw a great idea, researched it, and asked a local carpenter to build it out. Our triangle was a gift for the boys' first Christmas, when they were about 14 months old, and smack in the middle of the growth charts size-wise.
Here are the initial specs I sent to the carpenter who ended up making our triangle:
"Pretty typical specs for the triangle seem to run:
      made of pine
      30" high
      24" wide
      3.25 inches between rungs
The ramp is usually around 59" long and 9.5" or a bit wider. It's reversible - one side smooth and the other side has foothold strips every 8-9" so kids can vary the degree of challenge as they grow."
As this was years ago, we've since gifted the triangle down (and moved a continent away😂), so I don't have it on hand to measure. But I do remember the finished product was close to these -- a bit wider, but not more than 30" because it still fit through the playroom doors.
For a reccomendation based on my experience actually USING our triangle: the 34" would certainly be appropriate (very very similar to ours) while the 40" would give the child(ren) more challenges to explore and therefore possibly more time to enjoy playing with the triangle, possibly improving the value from an economic perspective.
Keep in mind that any of the heights may look daunting or dangerous to parents initially, but when you respect the childrens' task attention, it's very easy to see how careful they are and how seriously they wish to master the fun. Ours may have wobbled a few times, but they never fell off, not even when sliding, and -- bless them -- they are far from the world's most naturally coordinated kids (they got that from me😔).

@@ejonics Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this detailed reply. I went with the 40 inch one! It will be available in 2 weeks and, I also went with a local carpenter.

Sorry I'm late to the party. At what age did they lose interest in the slide and triangle? Our daughter is 16 months and I'm considering purchasing these because she suddenly loves to climb.
