My dad built silo's for 30+ years and I worked with him for 3+ years. The crew was five and it was hard work but glad I got to do it !!!! Most of our crew is gone including my dad but the memories live on. Thanks to those that are doing it now.

How does the deck move up and down inside?
How does it get taken down?
Is the deck taken down before the unloader is built or installed?
Is the unloader one piece or put together inside?
How deep is the concrete foundation?
What's the tallest silo you've built?

That was one of the most enjoyable videos that I have watched in a long time. There's so much to watch, the silo going up and the cattle coming and going, too. I had to watch it several times. Very Good. Thank You for posting it.

Use the .25 speed and you can see a little more detail. If you have 25 minutes to spare. Even then every hour clicks by every 32 seconds.

I was wondering how tall that silo was and how long it actually took to build it so I was happy to find that information included above. I love seeing them come down and I have watched many of them being taken down, sometimes by machine and sometimes by a man with a sledge hammer, but this was the first one I saw being built. Pretty awesome.

I think it's cool watching stave silos be built. Your neighbors all give you a hard time for building a silo? Mine did. They have bags and bunkers, and complain non stop about their silos they have. But they do very little to zero maintenance on their unloaders and wonder why their silo unloaders don't work? 🤔 I had bags and piles and wouldn't go back to that mess. Seems like we've built a silo every 6-8 years on our farm as the herd grows since 2003.

What building codes did you have to follow to build that high? I understand that there is usually a limit on residential contractors up to a certain height. Was it a commercial crew and could this be converted to a living space?

Was that a used silo that was relocated to your site? I suppose that you had a camera mounted on another silo or grain leg to get the view from up high.

  • @meandthemrs7403

I think they could have built it in three days if they had started at daylight. They started the camera at 7 a.m. on the 15th. The workers arrived half an hour later. They worked till 7 p.m. That's an eleven hour day. I guess that's enough.
I would like to know how deep the footer is.
Did anybody else notice the dog that likes to hang around the workers?
They got the dome finished right when the rain started.
