Make sure that there are not cracks on the body of the cleaner. If there are that would compromise the unit as air would be getting out. Next, check the footpad and see if it's worn out. I'm attaching a link to that video where I show how to replace it. th-cam.com/video/Lb-0LuViYgs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LPnWk45VU8idu_6- If the footpad is completely worn out it's not going to move around. Also, make sure the valves have not been turned off
It picks up small debris really well. I prefer this pool cleaner over the Zodiac mx6/mx8 and defintely over the Hayward Navigator. I've seen golf balls get stuck and some sea shells that were lodged in there sideways get the cleaner stuck, but that would also get the other 2 cleaners that I've mentioned stuck also. As long as the leaves don't have thick twigs to get lodged sideways then it has done a really good job IMHO.
I have a brand new one just like that with a new 3 hp pump and its barely enough to not work, not enough suction. These require a massive amounts of suction to work to thump the diaphram..
3HP pump is too big for residential use. Unless you have 2.5" or 3" piping then it's a waste because the pump can only suck as big as the piping the water is going through. You end up losing pressure. Check the PSI gauge, if it's over 20 PSI then there's too much pressure in the system.
@poolguyfl it's definitely a residential pool pump and I see what you mean but even if I turn the suction way down or up the diaphram barely thumps I think because the water is 45° that rubber diaphragm is too stiff. I'll try it in the summer when the water is hotter to see if it thumps better than the rubber might be more pliable that's the only thing it could be
@@seatime674bought a brand new one, wouldn’t work, cleaned filter, checked for air leaks, spent more than 4 hours going back and fourth, took it back to the store a few days later and replaced it for a new one, new one works fine, don’t get fooled into thinking your system is the problem, you could just have a faulty diaphragm
@Thabzzz Understood but I bought 2 brand new cleaners different manufacturers on Amazon brand new in the box one just like the one in your video both with those diaphragms one clear and one yellow diaphram identical to the one on your video and they both do the same thing.. My pool is only 3 years old I put 4 brand new filters in, checked the impeller which was fine I have no clogs anywhere and have all power dedicated to the vacuum. No luck. I guess I could go crazy and buy 4 different diaphragms from different places and try that I guess. I'm done with all this crap for this year maybe I'll try it next summer 🙄
@@seatime674 I don't think the water temperature has anything to do with it. Have you turned off the Main Drain valve? Also, are connected to the skimmer or do you have a dedicated vacuum line? If you have a dedicated vacuum line then close off some of the valve to the skimmer to direct more suction to the vacuum line. Don't close the skimmer line completely but close off some of it.
Hi Jennifer. I hate to say it depends but I've seen anywhere from 6 months to a couple of years. The link that I left for the ATIE brand seems to be the most durable for replacement parts that I've used. As of today a 2 pack is $10.99. The pool stores are much more than that. Hope that helps.
Thanks, watching you insert diaphragm really helped me. I didn't take it apart but was asked to reassemble. Thanks.
You're welcome, glad I could help.

Thank you so much! It works now that I replaced the diaphragm!
You're welcome Sondra! That's what I like to hear.
Thank you for solving my pool cleaner problem! This worked like a charm.
You're welcome Heather😁
Perfect fix! the first time......then a year later it stopped again. Diaphragm is good. Replaced it just to be sure. Still stuck. No bad hoses either.

I am unable to lefty loosey the first step. It won't budge. Suggestions please, for this damsel in distress. Thanks
Try an oil filter wrench. It should open up large enough to grip onto that part of the pool cleaner and form a tight enough grip.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
How long should the diaphragm last?
