With every Superman movie the major problem was villian was never too strong for him. How to create a villian for a hero who is god like.
I guess James Gunn knows this too and therefore he wants to show the superman who is not god like because only then the villian can shine and we can have a grand villian which will make movie much likeable to watch.

i think gunn chose this image delibrately just for the sake of marketing. you know the more people criticize it, the more marketing they get and more people will know that there is a movie coming named superman. I'm a big fan of cavill but they show him as a god like creature (too over power) and perfect. moreover, they always use dark tone to henry's superman but if you see here we can get a different angle. like com on guys you have to embrace because it is not about zack or henry , it is about superman. the fav superhero of everyone's childhood. superman is the biggest in his niche no thor, no ironman or any other comes near him. Zack Snyder's view was abandoned back in 2017, we all felt disappointed cuz alot of people wanted to see the Endgame of his Universe but then Walter Hamada came along & ruined Everything -
