"I don't want people to think I'm just into death and gore and horror" -Meechy Darko aka Count Racula aka Durt Cobain aka the darkest rhymer since DMX dropped that album with blood all over his body aka my only mission is to burn in hell and not in prison. Nah Meech why would we think that? 😂
I just now realize that the instrumental Flatbush Zombies used in their song "Minephuck" is from Nonphixion's "The CIA is Trying To Kill Me!" Good to see artists wearing their influences on their sleeves and doing something original with it.
the only thing i can think of that comes close in terms of intensity and raw, thought provoking lyricism is Genelec & Memphis Reigns - Scorpion Circles and they both dropped in 2002.
I had never heard of Flatbush Zombies before watching this and I went out and bought their LP "Vacation In Hell" based only on what they picked and spoke on here. I was not disappointed, great album.
This was an amazing episode. I was not aware of the Flatbush zombies but I am now and I’m going to dive deep into their music. These guys come off super chill and I love all their pics. Even the Manson album.....the guy spoke a lot of truth when perfectly explaining his curiosity for a madman’s music.
Wow, the John Mayer album surprised me. Continuum is a great album and John is a phenomenal guitarist. It's too bad he doesn't show off more of his guitar chops in his studio albums. His live stuff is his best stuff!
Vince Noir That's Meechy Darko, commonly referred to as the most consistently best from the group (though they're all A+). I highly recommend their music if you enjoyed their discussions.
emma duncan have you actually listened to John Mayer? Yeah it’s like corny to go to his pop songs but the guy can actually play. He’s a great guitarist, has played alongside B.B. King and other great blues artists. Juice knew exactly what he was talking about when he brought us Mayer.
emma duncan john mayer is an amazing song writer and guitarist. go listen to his heavier things album along with continuum and even his latest album is great.
As a 50-year-old white dude, I confess that I stopped paying attention to rap music in about '96. But these dudes have such good and eclectic taste I gotta give them a listen. Helter Skelter and The Family. The only books that gave me nightmares. If you read this comment, FZ, and you haven't read either of those books, I triple dog dare you to read them!
I'd start with their "BetterOffDead" mixtape if you want to hear the most influence from the music and media they feature here and music like it. None of their releases sound mainstream anyway so you can really start wherever you want.
It's really great to see you be so open-minded sir. If you like 90's rap, do check out their single "Headstone", the lyrics of which are packed full of references to bygone eras of Hip Hop. The song they play at the end of the video above (U&I) is great as well!
No Name i’ve tried to listen to brockhampton so many times and i just can’t get with it, i don’t know why, they don’t seem that interesting to me. i liked a few songs tho
Axis Bold As Love is one of the greatest albums of all time and personally probably my favorite Hendrix album..please go listen to it it will change your life!!!
I have to agree with you there with horror movies they don't build up the suspense like they use to Halloween is a good one for that with that song they play u know something about to happen and it is freaky as hell
Yo Flatbush, I had to sell my prized possession, your Laced Odyssey vinyl, because I had to pay for some unexpected medical bills. Hmu if you ever find one laying around in the warehouse. I need it back in my life. Y'all are rock stars, keep it up.
These dudes single handedly got me interested in hip hop again! I hate this crap out now but just like country, you gotta dig deep. Thanks guys for doing what your doing!
This why we love these niggas together. Meech is so dark it’s great. Juice dead hella chill. And the Eric is hard to explain he very artsy in many ways.
How was it bro? I saw them in columbus and it was sooooo fcking good that I had to buy another ticket and see them again in Cincinnati the next week LOL
Flatbush Zombies are one of the best groups in all of hip hop right now. Their individuality and unique personalities differ, but that's what makes them work. Each of them brings a different powerful characteristic to the group. I'm glad they keep blowing up, they deserve it and they've worked for it. I will forever be #ZombieGang 💕💀✌🏽
It’s true what Meech said about the horror flicks nowadays, it’s all jumpscare now instead of doing it the other way where you can sense the monster coming just by the sounds and all that, not a big fan of horror flicks but i can relate to that statement
Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favourite.
I’m sorry but how the fuck could you even compare the two? They are both from different states, VERY different styles, steez, lyrical content, beat selection. Etc I just don’t see how someone could compare such different groups lmao
People underestimate their knowledge of music and how they are able to mix all of that together with individual creativity and create something special.
Cool cats. Very intelligent, insightful dudes with great taste. Into other other genres of music more than I am into hip hop, so I haven't delved too far into Flatbush Zombies( only heard 4 or 5 songs and wasn't paying too much attention when I did). That's going to change now though, going to do a deep dive into their music now because they are so cool and insightful.
Yo I found Non-Phixion from a comp I bought from dollarama when I was like 10. Black helicopters was one of my earliest hip hop favorites. Didn't even realize till way later in life that necro and ill bill were part of that. I was a huge fan of necro and ill bill.
I lived on Elm Street as a kid (and now as an adult!) and I'm not kidding when I say I wouldn't color red and green close together as a kid bc I thought it would make Freddy appear! I also used to haul ass home from my friends when it got dark, maybe 8 houses down from mine, and would say to myself over and over "Im a bullet, a missile, a rocket to the moon.." 😂 The "everyone has to sleep" part was the most terrifying thing for me too!
So glad juice dropped that John Mayer pick at the end. It’s super cool to see someone from this genre pick a style like Mayer out of everything else to pick from.
I’ve saw how John Mayer has progressed the last few years playing with Dead n Company and that MF has a flow that can’t be fucked with. He sounds incredible and the dude puts in work like few others can.
"I don't want people to think I'm just into death and gore and horror"
-Meechy Darko aka Count Racula aka Durt Cobain aka the darkest rhymer since DMX dropped that album with blood all over his body aka my only mission is to burn in hell and not in prison.

I respect them even more after this. There’s something refreshing about seeing people speak this articulately about art.
I freaking love this show! Please don't stop amoeba, it makes my Monday!
I just now realize that the instrumental Flatbush Zombies used in their song "Minephuck" is from Nonphixion's "The CIA is Trying To Kill Me!" Good to see artists wearing their influences on their sleeves and doing something original with it.
Shoutout to Flatbush Zombies for spreading the Non-Phixion word. The Future is Now is a ridiculous record.
CORC Dead Ass! Got that double vinyl when it dropped
Check out "Minephuck" from Flatbush Zombies, you'll recognize instrumentals from "The CIA is trying to kill me"!
Check out the Circle Of Tyrants and The GodFathaz as well.
Yes!! Totally underrated!
the only thing i can think of that comes close in terms of intensity and raw, thought provoking lyricism is Genelec & Memphis Reigns - Scorpion Circles and they both dropped in 2002.

The best music show around
This was an amazing episode. I was not aware of the Flatbush zombies but I am now and I’m going to dive deep into their music. These guys come off super chill and I love all their pics. The guy in the white shirt is one insightful dude
Vince Noir That's Meechy Darko, commonly referred to as the most consistently best from the group (though they're all A+). I highly recommend their music if you enjoyed their discussions.
they all are. except the guy who plugged John Mayer.
emma duncan Agreed! And why would I listen to him high on LSD or mushrooms, when there are 1000s of better bands to listen to while tripping?
emma duncan have you actually listened to John Mayer? Yeah it’s like corny to go to his pop songs but the guy can actually play. He’s a great guitarist, has played alongside B.B. King and other great blues artists. Juice knew exactly what he was talking about when he brought us Mayer.
