Last week I was on a rail replacement coach traveling between Penzance and Truro. The radio was on and mentioned Jethro's death. My coach driver said that it was fitting that there were no trains stopping in Camborne that Wednesday
Superb. I recall hearing that rendition when I was in a packed pub in Devon and although most of us had heard the recording before we fell about laughing. Truly a case of the way he told them. RIP Jethro.
Remembering my old pal, Dave Instance, who first introduced me to this story many years ago. Happy days, RIP Jethro, you'll have them falling off their clouds up there
Whenever I hear Jehro's accent it reminds me of growing up in Penzance. I was lucky enough to see him perform at his pub in Lewdown. Happy memories RIP.
Remember my Grandad (a lifelong railwayman and Jethro fan) telling me this joke (a slightly shortened version). Listening to this today made me laugh a lot and also brought back happy memories. Thanks for uploading (Y)
It wasn’t just what Jethro says that makes me laugh so much. To misquote Frank Carson, it’s the WAY he tells them. Funniest comedian I ever knew. Never tire of re-hearing his stuff. RIP Jethro.
I'm 81 now and I first heard "Train don't stop Camborne Wednesdays" 30+ years ago and was in tears imagining it. I've seen/heard it so many times since and I've just watched this video and had to get some tissues it's so bloody funny. God Bless you, Jethro. R I P.
Agreed, great storyteller, Cornish comedian and folk singer.... I wonder if his funeral cortege will stop in Camborne?? -- Probably not, especially if it's a WEDNESDAY!!
@@terrywatson7997 the irony is on the day Jethro died, there were rail replacement buses bypassing Camborne due to track works so the trains did not stop Camborne that Wednesday!
He was a lovely bloke. I saw him live at a gig not long before he died; he liked to go outside with the punters during the interval. I managed to get him on his own and I said, "Look, Jethro, I just wanted to apologise for getting here late." (We hadn't. ) He said, "Oh, that's ok, glad you're here." I said, "We left on Wednesday to get here on time, but the bloody train didn't stop." The realisation in his face was a picture, and he slapped my shoulder and roared with laughter.
RIP to the unlucky person who jumped out at Loughborough station many years ago . He died at 90 MPH ! Luckily he didn’t hit anyone on the platform. Jethros joke has put Camborne station on the map
RIP Jethro. Came here as soon as I hears the news to listen to this masterpiece one more time.
Should see what GWR did today
@@stevetheplumber5378 And me. The opening line from the vicar at the service has to be "What happened was". Very sad.
Same here, vastly underrated comic, one of the best, God speed Jethro
@@stevetheplumber5378 wat did gwr do

Miserable Xxx!,
Was going to report this but no section relating to , sad person, no sense of humour.
Kyle Richmond clearly doesn't appreciate real comedy, probably laughs at Ricky Gervais or similar idiots
About as funny as rickets. Good train footage recommend watching in mute.
Good train footage? Seriously? Has to be the saddest comment i’ve ever read.
But they don't stop Cambourne Wednesdays !!!
