As a Texas fan and with all due respect, why did UsC spend so much on a high end coach if y’all couldn’t spend for high end players? You guys spent the money to hire Lewis Hamilton but then put him in a Buick lesabre.
It’s not that they don’t have the money. Calebs NIL was estimated at 10M. It’s that they’ve been conservative with NIL because they were expecting the NCAA to come in and regulate it at some point. The admin didn’t want to overstep and get caught out on the wrong side of the NCAA because of recent sanctions. So whereas teams like Oregon/Miami aggressively leaned into the pay for play early USC admin has been slow to adjust. Also, USC just isn’t willingly to overspend for guys that they think don’t demand the market value. They overspent to sign Bear Alexander a DT from Georgia because they were desperate for DL talent. Then going into his 2nd season he held hostage for even more money and it blew up in the coaches faces. They eventually caved but it led to discontent with other players that are now trying to do the same and leverage the coaches for more than they’re worth and the coaches are telling them to kick rocks. Worst part is Bear quit midseason and transferred to Oregon. In a way I kind of respect Riley and the admin for playing hard ball and not caving but at the same time they may be shooting themselves in the foot. I respect not just throwing cash at every NIL mercenary and trying to build the culture from within.
@ why don’t they spend more nil money on high school kids that fit the culture? My school (Texas) just finished 1st in high school recruiting and we are developing that talent through coaching. The first year was difficult but now Sarks 4th year, we are in the title hunt. We aren’t relying on character issues or kids that are going to move on if we don’t pay them. Obviously we have kids that need to move on every year just because they can’t find a starting role in their coming season but it’s not a mass migration like what’s going on in USC. I could have told you that Bear Alexander was going to be a disaster from the get go. He went to 3 high schools in 4 years. Whereas we have kids at my schools that stay all 4 and sometimes even 5 years. Tvondre sweat was a 3 star that we developed into a day 1 pick. Jordan Whittington was a 5 star recruit that stayed with our school all 5 years and was drafted by the rams. Xavier worthy stayed three years and then went pro. I think the most indicative person in our program that exemplifies our culture is Manning. He is a 5 star highly sought after recruit who is willing to sit two years just to get his shot to play on Sarks system. Y’all need to evaluate better the type of kids you want out of high school but also spend more in the front end on those type of kids rather than on the back end to try to keep the bear Alexander’s to stay.
I'm a Miami fan. Somebody PLEASE explain to me how your QB could still jump into the transfer portal? Didn't the transfer portal deadline pass already?!
Are there structural restrictions that prevent a team from establishing multi-year contracts that the player must honor? Can a University GM take such actions? NCAA boundaries?
If you got the money it shouldn't be that hard to out bid other schools. Look at Oregon, Texas and Ohio State. Its safe to say at this point we didn't have the money. 😢
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
if another caller mentions lincoln riley, i swear im gonna throw up. ignorance runs rampant among the sc fanbase. if you arent donating to house of victory, you are part of the problem.
What?? 😂 What other program asks for money from their fans?? I don’t donate there. Never have never will. So the fact that SC is a dumpster fire football program is my problem?? My donations, go to people in need not to a university that can’t figure out its problem with NIL. 😂😂 You’re comical.
USC NEEDS TO PAY PREGNON MORE MONEY. WE MUST KEEP HIM. HE IS OUR BEST OFFENSIVE LINEMAN. EVERYONE NEEDS TO RECRUIT HIM TO STAY. HIS TEAMMATES, OUR COACHES. I AM IN SHOCK. I DID NOT SEE THIS AT ALL. AND WE STILL DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE WHAT HIS SITUATION IS. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BEING RUINED BY MONEY. IT'S A REAL TURNOFF.
The trend of universities offering bigger sums of money to attract top players won't end anytime soon. These big money institutions are likely to continue pursuing these athletes, offering them lucrative deals. KISS loyalty goodbye and as Jerry Maguire would say “ Show me the money!” Sincerely, Salary Caps or say bye bye to college football
Who cares. Dude was always complaining about how long he was on and expected callers to pay to listen to him talk longer. Tim has a real passion for USC
If these "tampering schools" (via their "agents") are reaching out to USC starters with BIG MONEY....there is not much USC/Riley could do and simply give in. USC has a particular value per player on its roster...but again if an outside agent offers some amount TOO HIGH on USC's own evaluations...then this is the result. Nothing more and nothing less. Move on.
I really don't care if he is this type of low balling. Where universities are going around that taking short cuts by offering to give guys more than what rules if in place would block. I think this crap is over by the beginning of the new season. College football can't maintain this type of cheating for long before universities like USC said ok we really want to go there and play getting money from wherever. We really want to play big bank and take little bank!!! He goes he goes, it's what's going on in college football now. I mean do we think that our offensive line just decided he wanted to transfer???? He naw, he was offered a bag that he couldn't turn his back on and couldn't risk telling USC to give and offer because it would put a light on that institution!!! Until we set some rules it going to keep on happening. Hell it's happening now to others but it's just that because we are USC ours are magnified.
This again is a Lincoln Riley problem.......I have said it......Players want to be developed. It not about the bag for him because he could have went into the draft. This dude wants to win
Can USC absorb the loss of Emmanuel Pregnon on its talented, but young offensive line?
Nope
No we cannot.
@@CogitoergosumTide Bama honk beat it . Nobody cares what u think
They didn't want to pay Emanuel Pregnon that is freaking wonderful our line is going to be all freshmen
The caller Russ hit it out of the park. Excellent take.

Portal time is extended for people in bowl games. Maiava had until last Tuesday to put his name in the portal.
Fight on ✌️
Hopefully goes to Miami better opportunity for him 😎
