Just recently saw a Typhoon pilot talk about the performance, turn and climb rates of the German GS variant and while they are impressive...that thing weighs 18T with fuel, has two EJ200 engines. These F-14Bs here are probably around 50 tons (assuming 10 tons of fuel) and just look how those GEs beat that airframe up into the climb and it accelerates while climbing!! The F110 and this airframe are just something else even to this day. Thanks for sharing and again, the quality on these uploads given the time of recording is epic. Missed by most is probably the turn radius of 2.100ft/1.500m - look up current fighters' turn radius and realize how far ahead of its time this design by Grumman was. Anytime, Baby.
Just thought I’d reply to this as no one covers the demise of the cat (Properly) when Regan became Prez Grumman was trying to increase production of the cat thru such movies as The Final Countdown to which Reagan had a private showing - it worked so Grumman was given Dick Cheney (a new hire from the DOD) and a Grumman rep had to meet with Cheney in order to sell the cat, immediately the Grumman rep noticed that Cheney, knew nothing about defense aircraft and was asked to be replaced with someone who did… Cheney took that personally, so when he became VIP - he asked Grumman for an apology to which Grumman replied (Pound sand) shortly thereafter the cat became too expensive or took too much time to maintain so the cat was replaced but the bug and Northrop allowed to purchase Grumman in a hostile takeover, to which Northrop then fired 99% of working families and most had no jobs to go too afterwards - let’s see a real vid on that 😀
PS - my father was a Grumman airframe engineer who helped design the Cat in the late 60’s, the E2-C, the A6 E and the Prototype F so trust me it had absolutely nothing to do with Iran, Israel, the F-15 to which Grumman offered the USAF their version of the 14 for the air force it was all about Dick and not a good 1

The truth ? Israel didn't like us having it, and they REALLY didn't wan't Iran to have the parts. This Airplane never got to see its potential.
