Todd Starts Using His New Words In 12 Hours

- Todd received his new words Belly, Help, and Treat about 12 hours ago and he is alreadt starting to use them. I also show how I model a new word for him so he understands it’s meaning and concept.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 51 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you've watched other Todd videos, you'll see him do this, too, requesting toys for his siblings and things.

Todd already knows these human words for his stuff or needs, but he can't turn a meow into a human word for what he knows. The buttons are easy for him bcos cats have a good memory and he has learned human talk already, so he quickly sets about using new buttons. Smart Todd, handsome Todd! ❤

So you are the Bestest Dad today, finding the chicken over the fish! I bet Todd catches on that when he asks for a treat, everyone gets one. My prediction is he will ask first for a treat. Then will start asking for Glamour & Paulie to get a treat, figuring he'll get one too! Can't wait for him to use 'help' on his own.

Like, the other cats do not seem to randomly step on the buttons? Or is it just that we do not get to see it? - They now there is power in these buttons, but - it is Mr. Todd who can do the magic. (Yet I think Glamour is quite close, but might need an own set of things.... This one belongs, to - Todd.)

As my two are highly greedy I have had to make each of them use a physical signal to claim their portion. One must touch my hand with his nose and the other must butt my hand with her head. This way they each have learned not to invade the other cat's pile.

It was a gift from my wife. I like the Rick and Morty cartoon, and she had a movie poster made with Todd and I jumping through the portal. It's very cute.
I think I’m pretty slow. This is the first time I noticed the great Dad and Todd picture. Todd is a much quicker learner than I!
It only been there for the last few videos. It's new.
Oh my gosh if my Reba-Lou ever learned to use the buttons, treat or in her case good girl snack couldn't be one of them. Her primordial pouch aka pink jiggly stuff would be dragging the ground. Sets a good girl snack every evening at sundown. I do allow her outside in a fenced in area (cat yard). We live out in the country so she has to be in by dark, yes my cat has a curfew. I started by picking her up and bringing her in, then telling her "good girl" and following it up with a treat (good girl snack). It didn't take her long before she would come in on her own when I opened the door and yes she still gets a good girl snack. She also thinks she needs a late night good girl snack when she finally finishes her canned food.

I've read that giving cats a 'treat' button is a bad idea. I'm interested in finding out what happens with Todd and the rest of the gang.
It is to start with because they will focus on that if food oriented. This was Todd's 53rd word. He has had it since Sunday and asked for it a total of 3 times so far.
Well if Glamour doesn't learn to use the Treat button, I wonder if she'll nudge Todd to use it for her 😹

Glamour was looking for the treat button. Once she finds it she's going to be asking for treats too.
