I had all of the Rick's cassettes when I was 16, I grew up on this music, It is a joy to re discover "Six Wives of Henry" and his "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", after all this time. Now I'm 55, his talent was always shinning. Great works of Rick Wakemen, now he is doing comedy online. What a crack up. Shows he is a normal guy. The cape is stage work, thats all. RIck Lives! Right on!!
Mr. Rick Wakeman is a fricking GENIUS on the keyboards. He does things that even now I wonder how the heck he does it. I swear he makes the hardest parts look like childs play. I love playing the keys and no matter how good I get, if I can play 1/16th as good as him, I would be happy!
As a Yes fan, its great to see this. Yes is such a unique combination of masters working together with a unique chemistry, all of whom can stand on their own without question.
My first RW's album was ..Six Wives... when I was eighteen at 1989, at the same time of ABWH. two years before Union. Joyfull moments that I loved and never can´t forge it! Thanks Rick! I love your music from the bottom of my heart, my soul. Exequiel Cariaga from Buenos Aires, Argentina
This is fantastic. He is staying fairly faithful to the original synth patches - and he's wearing a cape again just for chuckles and nostalgia I guess. This takes me way back and the skill and dexterity have not diminished at all.
the best. i was born in 1979 but i heard catherine of aragon in 1984 for 1st time. and its definetely one of my favorites. this version is the most exciting ive ever heard
I have noticed the age. So effing what. The genius is still there. Periodically, I still listen to the whole album. (on vinyl). I still consider this to be the best of the era.
I was in a keyboardist in a couple of bands in the 1980s and was referred to contemptuously by guitarists as "bloody Rick Wakeman" on many occasions. Still, love this song. It's cheesy as hell. But addictive!
It is largely through listening to Rick that I developed a keen interest in other instruments than guitar, bass, drums. In doing so, the musical boundaries opened up. Ergo, my daughter was introduced to better music than pop.She is now a excellent classical, jazz, and popular musician playing the cello, trombone, and several others. She teaches and supports herself. So, I would say that exposing the children to music as shown by Ricks' talent is, dare I say, almost a requirement.
I still can't believe such an anti-commercial masterpiece sold 15 million copies... Something definitely went wrong in the music industry after the golden age of the 70s
He writes in his book that he took to wearing the cape because somebody told him he looked clumsy playing between two keyboards, so he put the cape on to cover his movements. Nothing to do with conceit ... he's one of the most humble performers on the planet.
@AllStarBugler What a great video. I didn't know that Santa Claus is such a wonderful keyboard-player !!! So he's bringing all the goodies, toys and prog tunes. God bless Wakeman !!! and merry Progmas wherever you are !!!
Fantastic stuff. Seen him 5 or 6 times with Yes but he never seems as "into it" as he does playing his own work. In fact, he looked rather bored at times and that's Yes were talking about! This man is incredible.
I heard him comment that he sees colors when he plays, and he is playing the soundtrack to what he is seeing. If the visions break, he messes up. Pretty cool.
His stage equipment looks like Jordan Rudess' studio equipment I love both though, they are awesome, but it is guys like Wakeman who got me into keyboards and into music like Jordan Rudess
This album gave a nickname that only the people at the record store usrd. I was called 'Wives', because I waited 3 months for the quadraphonic version of this album.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. The Keyboard Genius.
One of the most sublime pieces I ever heard of any aritst...period. Wakeman forever great!

Rick Wakeman is really great! I will never ever forget the day I got to meet him!
I had six wives and early yes... Thanks for this. I love you
True master of the keys! Amazing musician, composer, song-writer!
I was there at Hampton Court when this was recorded....truly amazing.
I was there too: I flew from New York to London to see Rick Wakeman live for the first time in my life!
May 1st, 2009, if I remember correctly.

I miss when i heard this LP with my parents, when i was a kid on the 80's!... It's the great journey!
Long live the 70's Progressive Rock!
This is fantastic. He is staying fairly faithful to the original synth patches - and he's wearing a cape again just for chuckles and nostalgia I guess. This takes me way back and the skill and dexterity have not diminished at all.

What a great night it was. Expensive but worth every penny.
Arguable the greatest keyboardist of all time.
Exquisite and superb! To buy this DVD is a no-brainer...Rick is a genius!
I love Chris Squires opening bass lines to Catherine on the Six Wives album. What an powerful intro to this great song!!
I have noticed the age. So effing what. The genius is still there. Periodically, I still listen to the whole album. (on vinyl). I still consider this to be the best of the era.
Simply beautiful! And he attends my same church. Also, my dearly departed sister, surely is in heaven. Catherine. 32 years now...
This immediately brought tears.
The short theme that starts about 1:13ish is so beautiful it brings a tear to the eye. It always gets me.
such a haunting sound at about 1:20 on the synthesizer. its like the queen pleading her case to Henry. wonderfully done
I like the waltz at 2:58
Rick is the best👍
Maravilloso !!!
such a legend, keyboards are amazing. wish o could see more of his hauns
I got to see him perform this live with a small band in a bar in Cleveland in the early 80s. This is very cool.
Rick Wakeman is Great! Wakeman! Wakeman! Wakeman rules!!!
I was in a keyboardist in a couple of bands in the 1980s and was referred to contemptuously by guitarists as "bloody Rick Wakeman" on many occasions. Still, love this song. It's cheesy as hell. But addictive!
Ah, finally, Rick with a huge orchestra again, and good it sounds too! But to cut The Blessed out is sacrilege! GORDONS ALIVE!!
Best work of Rick...
Seven people hit the wrong button. Songs like this just CAN'T be disliked,
had the privelidge of seeing rick at the odeon b'ham King Arthur tour in the 70's ....wot a guenuinely nice guy. wen music was played 4 pleasure

I loved it when the album came out, and I still love it.
I have noticed that Rick plays cleaner when he has a full human orchestra and choir. He's the best
Melhor tecladista do mundo!
the best musician
Meus olhos fecham... viagem!
Long live the Moog. Mr. Moog RIP From the Diamond Dogs
Só nascendo outro. incrível. ...
I still can't believe such an anti-commercial masterpiece sold 15 million copies... Something definitely went wrong in the music industry after the golden age of the 70s
Prog was completely mainstream in 1973….the pop charts were full of music like this.
How can 16 people dislike such a masterpiece?
Let alone 36 as it stands now...taste is subjective obviously, perhaps there wasn't enough rapping in it for them ?
WOW !!! AWSOME!!
His lifelong dream. To play at this castle. God loves him.
Magnificent and Majestic!
He writes in his book that he took to wearing the cape because somebody told him he looked clumsy playing between two keyboards, so he put the cape on to cover his movements. Nothing to do with conceit ... he's one of the most humble performers on the planet.
I love Rick Wakeman forever
@AllStarBugler
What a great video. I didn't know that Santa Claus is such a wonderful keyboard-player !!! So he's bringing all the goodies, toys and prog tunes. God bless Wakeman !!! and merry Progmas wherever you are !!!
Beautiful 70s Progrock....
I think rick Wakemen's music is beyond prog-rock, it is more like classical music with contemporary instruments.
I was in the audience.......I will NEVER forget
I think that the DVD is actually all from the 2nd night.
Thanks
James
Hands cameraman! Get on Rick's HANDS!
Fantastic stuff. Seen him 5 or 6 times with Yes but he never seems as "into it" as he does playing his own work. In fact, he looked rather bored at times and that's Yes were talking about! This man is incredible.
Rick Wakeman e seus maravilhosos e indescritíveis
Pure Genius!!!!
I heard him comment that he sees colors when he plays, and he is playing the soundtrack to what he is seeing. If the visions break, he messes up. Pretty cool.
lo mejor de lo mejor...felicidades...

@tobymanero2 Ray Cooper, a noted percussionist who has been around a long time and been part of many great songs/albums.
How did I not hear about this????
Is sad to see 7 people don't have the sensibility to enjoy this music.
Very Good.
Increiblemente EXELENTE
"The Moog solo represents Catharine of Aragon's indigestion after being divorced by Henry VIII."
Henry VIII was trash !
Did she saved her head? 😂
I have always loved this music and also always wondered why it is not in the chronological order of the wives. Any ideas out there?
14 years later I can tell you it was to do with the length of the pieces and how they would fit on vinyl.
very very only!!!
My SUPER Hero!!!
His stage equipment looks like Jordan Rudess' studio equipment
I love both though, they are awesome, but it is guys like Wakeman who got me into keyboards and into music like Jordan Rudess
"Thank you for waiting , your call is very important to us"
Great
I'm going to start wearing a cape too.
Genial! El segueixo des del 1972!!!
it's Santa Claus...oh, wait...it's Rick Wakeman. You almost got me.
I have the album, WOW.
Like someone said already Wakeman + mini Moog = eargasim.
This album gave a nickname that only the people at the record store usrd. I was called 'Wives', because I waited 3 months for the quadraphonic version of this album.
Redberry54 must be amazing in quad...
WOHOOOOOO
Un ensueño!
@giogo14 I used to have the sheet music in the 70's so it was printed, VERY rare now, I have been looking out for it. Saw it on ebay (sold) for £50 !
