I have a 2001 HH Super Strat. They were sold with the PG in the bridge, and ‘59 at the neck. The PG in my Strat sounds awesome clean. Actually bell like. One of the best pickups I have heard on any guitar.
The PG in the Fenders that came stock with the guitar (Big Apple and Lonestar) were the PG + which is actually an alnico V version of the regular PG which is alnico II...so you'll get more brightness and bite than a regular PG pup. So its only halfway the same pup - same wind n bobbins but a totally different magnet.
Dude I just wanted to add this is one badass tone.. I can tell you've been putting in the time over the years but man I've been at at 43 years and I can tell when a guy has a good touch on his instrument way to go brother Rock on
Wow, killer tone on both PUPs!!! Great song and phenomenal playing!!! I was weighing the JR vs Distortion. But something about that loose distortion of the Pearly Gates just cuts right through and warms everything up. Great job writing, playing, and gear demonstration!!!!
I have Pearly Gates in one of my strats. It’s amazing. It sounds closer to my ideal “Les Paul sound”, than a set of boutique PAF in my Les Paul style guitar 😅
Dude I absolutely love the tone the playing .I dig it all. I do not own a p90 guitar and been looking. .youve shown me these hB s with that Gibson pup is a rock n roll 101 machine....
You're a great player bro. Hope I can get to that level. Ive decided after watching your video on the Pearly Gates for my Nick Johnston HSS! Thanks man
Excellent playing, style and looks :) Fuckin Rockin! Yay. Now the pickups... not much in it, but I got a Pearly Gates Bridge coming - it does seem to 'sing' a bit more.
Yeah the jam got me to sub 👍 greetings from Texas. PS - the Pearly sound way better on high gain people saying otherwise need to get out of town lol those things DooM hard without all the wimpy high-end.
I’ll be damn. The PG has an upper midrange bump that sits in the mix better. I can hear how the guitar would stand out more without having to be louder. The JB is slightly darker, which surprised me. I’ve always known the JB to sound midrange-y to me.
Amazing Playing dude, this is prime example of a Very Good Guitar player making any guitar shine, both sounded awesome but decided to give the Pearly Gates a Shot after seeing this Ty 🤘
Love the sound of these PGs! Thinking about pairing theses in my HSS MIM Strat with some middle and neck Dimarzio True Velvets! If you don’t mind me asking are you using a 500k or 250k for the bottom tone knob?
Had the JB in one of my Strats for years - for rawk its great...no surprise it was a hugely popular rock pup....but cleans are sacrificed a bit with it (and any other high ouput pup) so for me the PG wins as it'll be better as an all rounder...definitely do better cleans and yet still sound great dirty. The only PG i've actually had though was the the Fender special issue PG+ which is the same wind but A5 instead of A2 magnets....so i guess a bit more top end bite/twang/sizzle. A2 pups though do tend to make my fave buckers and consequently are in several of my guitars.
I thought the pearlies carried just alittle bit more weight..which means the jb is coming out of my Bob Moore..lol..btw that strat was big and mean with both pups . I might have to pull my hot rail in the bridge pos on my strat..great tone dude
now I bought an LP guitar for the first time in my life and understood for the first time what a Fender guitar actually means and how to play it. Thank you for your opinion .
First off, killer playing and tone with both!!! My question is what time pots do you have 250K or 500K? Looking to put a Humbucker in my strats bridge.
Good player. Both of them sounds fantastic. PG sounds more darker and with mids a litte boosted and runs better for leads. In the other hand JB sounds more balanced and brighter and runs awesome for rythm. (By the way Highway 1 HSS has 250k pots, I think;). Maybe you could try the 59 hybrid custom (both worlds, lead & rythm)
I have the JB on a Les Paul and a Melody Maker and that's quite true, it gives nice bass and mediums but not as muddy as some classic PAF. Treble gets quite agressive sometimes but i adapt the eq or roll down the tone a little and it sounds perfect. They are also more versatile than the PG.
Pick ups are irrelevant, this guys playing is Awesome!!!
I’m going to start practicing that riff, love it!!
Rusty, you old rocking fox, you delivered me tones from heaven! Thanx for posting bro! ♨️

I also like the wild nature of the sound

Your low gain is my high gain, but this demo sold me on the PG in my #2 guitar.
Many Thanks, I chose Pearley Gates for my Stratocaster, I'm very happy, the sound is amazing.
You chose wisely, Pearley Gates is truly very suitable for the single coils.
Jb h4 amazing...both great sound😊
The SH4s are much better for high gain, but I prefer the Pearly Gates for the low gain stuff. That's what I've got on my Strat.
YESSS Cool! Great Riff
Wow, killer tone on both PUPs!!! Great song and phenomenal playing!!! I was weighing the JR vs Distortion. But something about that loose distortion of the Pearly Gates just cuts right through and warms everything up. Great job writing, playing, and gear demonstration!!!!
thank you, the PG is a very interesting sensor and fits perfectly
to the single

Both sound killer. I would love to record a track with the JB and then double that track with Pearly Gates.
Dude that sounds totally awesome, I love the way you play guitar, outrageous !
Thanks buddy :-)
You're a great player bro. Hope I can get to that level. Ive decided after watching your video on the Pearly Gates for my Nick Johnston HSS!
Thanks man
Really nice groove! Great playing 👍🏼
Thanks
Right the fuck on brother!!! Great riffage
Nice playing. Love the mojo
Awesome playing. Love pearly gates.
thanks, I left it in this strat :-)
I think the PG sounded more crunchy
Thanks for the video. Great playing.
I thank you
I was going to,mention in my last post that I have an Ibanez that came with a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge. Yo no quiero!
Great job!!
Thanks
Excellent playing, style and looks :) Fuckin Rockin! Yay. Now the pickups... not much in it, but I got a Pearly Gates Bridge coming - it does seem to 'sing' a bit more.
That is one of the BEST tones that I have ever heard. Is that George Lynch under that beard? Lol.
Yeah the jam got me to sub 👍 greetings from Texas. PS - the Pearly sound way better on high gain people saying otherwise need to get out of town lol those things DooM hard without all the wimpy high-end.
Wow!! This is "low" gain?! They're already screaming!! Epic tone!
I know my gain assessment is a bit different😃
make more videos sir! you are a phenomenal player.
thank you for the compliment 🙂
PG for me. In my Les Paul.
What a beautiful pickup (JB), I have 2 of them, one in my PRS CE 24 and other in my LTD EC-1000. Nice video!
thank you

it's the way you write, I see it the same way JB is a bit more cultured PG is total wilderness 😁
Amazing Playing dude, this is prime example of a Very Good Guitar player making any guitar shine, both sounded awesome but decided to give the Pearly Gates a Shot after seeing this Ty 🤘
thank you when i get a suitable guitar for JB the pearly gates will go back to Fender... It just fits the singles. I love this sound😆🤘
I really like 'em both. I've got JBs in three guitars, but I definitely want a set of Pearly Gates for an SG that's in need.
Now put an A8 magnet in that PG, you won't believe it!
Jam!
fucking sick, trying to decide on a bridge pup replacement. You make it sound easy!
Having owned both, I'd go with the JB 🙏
Love the sound of these PGs! Thinking about pairing theses in my HSS MIM Strat with some middle and neck Dimarzio True Velvets! If you don’t mind me asking are you using a 500k or 250k for the bottom tone knob?
I just don't know, I'll find out when I take the strings off.
Pearly Gates wins great Tone! For me!
yes, i ended up leaving it in that guitar :-)
You’re a great player.
Lord, there's a Rusty Fox sniffin round my chicken house. I believe it's time to let my dogs out.
Yes :-D
Sounds like the Pearly is more harmonically rich and saturated. Pinch harmonics sound better on the PG as well.
Nice jam, brother.
I just bought yesterday the JB for my strat 👍
👌
Bruh that was siiiiiiiiick
nice tone and playing man.
Thanks :-)
Need friends like you ha ha. Awesome playing by far, as someone said here, pickups are irrelevant in this video, you kick ass dude.
Thank you very much for the compliment, I appreciate people who have ears :-)
I thought the pearlies carried just alittle bit more weight..which means the jb is coming out of my Bob Moore..lol..btw that strat was big and mean with both pups . I might have to pull my hot rail in the bridge pos on my strat..great tone dude
now I bought an LP guitar for the first time in my life and understood for the first time what a Fender guitar actually means and how to play it. Thank you for your opinion .
Yeah rustyfoX.. I guess that's why fender used 'em in the lonestar strat... i don't mind yer playing either dude...
Like ' 440 ✔️🤙 ' Sh 4
.
Killer jamming bro..
Hard to beat the tone of the PG’s in the “low gain” opening riff. To my ear I thought the SH4 was better with high gain.
yeah, classic rock sound
Forget the pickups, where can I find fingers like that???? 😂 AMAZING PLAYING!!
thank you very much :-)
You can actually buy those, fingers. They is a store called PRACTISE.
I 'll replace my fender player strat MIM bridge hunbucker pickup with PG , may be it will be suitable
No bro i tried one it sounds shit
Nice tone.
Its regular pearly gates or pearly gates plus?
Great demo! How does the pearly gates match that highway 1 singles in middle and neck?
Just excellent, they fit together like a glove :-)
First off, killer playing and tone with both!!! My question is what time pots do you have 250K or 500K? Looking to put a Humbucker in my strats bridge.
Thanks! The guitar is a Fender Highway one with the original potentiometers, but I don't know their values.
Appreciate the reply!
I like the Pearly Gates best because it smokes without the added risk of cancer 😜
Pearly Gates all the way.
The pearly gates pickup that comes in strats are not the same as regular pearly gates. The strat ones are slightly hotter and have a alnico 5 magnet
What do you prefer? Deciding on which to put in my PRS McCarty. Thank you!
I love the wildness of singles and PG fits them perfectly. I put the SH 4 in a Les Paul. Everything is variable and depends on taste :-)
what is the value of the pots conected to the humbacker?
I just don't know
Never found pearly gates in a strat to be a good idea. In a Les Paul or SG I highly recommend.
I love when caveman Rock !
Hi, thanks, I'll look into it. We'll see what it does :-)
I think the JB has more clarity,
And the PG is a lot more driven.
Bot get heavy, but don't think about getting nice and easy with the PG or JB.
PG sounded nicer to me. Rounded off highs, less squeaky/stringy. The JB would better suit a darker/heavier guitar I think 🤔
I feel the same way :-)
I have the JB on a Les Paul and a Melody Maker and that's quite true, it gives nice bass and mediums but not as muddy as some classic PAF. Treble gets quite agressive sometimes but i adapt the eq or roll down the tone a little and it sounds perfect. They are also more versatile than the PG.
got my foot stomping , excellent.
thank you
PG has more clear and open tone. JB has more punch and compress .
nice
Hello! Great tone! What kind of jcm 900 is in this video?Could you describe Your chain? Greetings !
Hello and thank you, the chain is simple ... Guitar - cable - JCM 900 nothing more :-) I play through the 2100 SLX model. Vintage 30, SM 57.
Furt ti to ide, synku!
thank you ... Vlastně dík vole 😂
Классно звучат оба датчика
да, спасибо, это было трудное решение :-)
JB
PG is more articulate with a better gain and overtone structure.
JB4 good for ibanez's & floydrose's , sound too compressed & thin in strat here , PG has better strat frequencies.. imho
That's right, I feel the same way
The more the gain the less guitars and pickups become similar in tone.
yes yes, it's strange
Pearly gates wins.
JB
