All recreational rounds I play at public courses usually packed and busy . I play point of entry lateral drops . Keeps things moving and still take a penalty stroke. I see your point , I should reconsider !! Thanks for the comment

@@naturalnurdzGolf Fair enough. I've heard of a version where you do that but you have to take two penalty shots. Sorts the pace of play thing, but it's more in line with the real disadvantage OB or lost ball gives you.
I don't do neither. I just hit a provisional if there's a risk of a lost ball. Have to play by the rules in comp so might as well during prac. One or two provisionals during a round doesn't really make the round any more congested or slow.
