Precious memories of the time we were visiting Tijuana Mexico... Bunch of us in a Van driving down....May God Bless Vancouver Korean Full Gospel Church for my most memorable missions trip.
This song brings back precious memories. 😆 My mama listened to this song and she had the single on tape. We listened to the instrumental all the time too. I love the feeling I get when I hear this song. 😊😆
The exact same quote from her manager is what drove her away from the CCM music scene. She didn't want her talent being compared to secular music when the whole point was to focus on God.
This old original version is the BEST version of all. I don't like the newer version she recorded for the "Recollection" CD. Thanks for posting this one. It's my favorite.
I searched for this song because I couldn't remember who was singing it but I remembered it being in heavy rotation on CCM radio when I was in middle school. I had no idea this was the artist singing various songs on the "Gilmore Girls". I thought her voice sounded familiar everyday, while getting my daily "Gilmore Girls" fix, but couldn't match the timbre to anyone in my recent consciousness. I kept trying to make her a member of the Bangles but their voices just don't match. Doing a deep dive for this song has provided me more information and the answer to a question that I thought would always be open-ended for me. Thank you!!!!
I grew up on the Recollection version, but this is one of the best Christian songs of all time. She got kicked off her record label. "Months of heartache, weeks of joy, days that are somewhere in between."
It was originally said that the "turning" was her last Christian album and farewell to the industry--I don't think that's true--I think ""black and white in grey world" was the last--as it had the last songs that were truly focused on the lord and offered hope in the shadow of the darker songs that were on it--"turning" had none of that
Firecriss - It's true, The Turning was definitely her last Christian LP. Black & White In A Gray World was released prior to it. The songs on Black & White.... are much better and Christ centered. The Turning's songs are less Christian. Libera Me is a good song though!
I'm sure The Turning was her last album for a Christian label. This is a fact. Black and White in a Grey World is much more edifying. Artistically I find The Turning a better album for sure. The Turning is totally about Jesus. But not so much security in Christ as desperate struggle to hold onto Christ. Libera Me is a fine song. "I don't know all the truth from the lying, but I know that I need You, for I am dying from being held by hell in a blinding cell of fear".
OH she left Christianity? I knew she left Christian music but...she was so inspirational and important in my life as a teenage new Christian...I hope she didn't leave Christianity....

There were songs, and this song in particular, that helped me grow in the Lord. Always, always will love this song.

Leslie Phillips, the Cyndi Lauper of 80’s Christian music. Timeless.

Man I love this song! I was blessed to see her in concert in 1985 (she opened for Petra on the Beat The System tour)

I'm not sure. She had a breakdown, and I empathise completely. I'm the same. Maybe she's still saved.

Do you have a reference/source of this breakdown? I would like to read more about this.
