Astoria is a lovely, historical, architectural, photo-op town. You did so well with the drone footage and thank you for the scenic views from the tower, awe inspiring. I had a brief thought of Jimmy Stewart in "Vertigo" as you were going up/down the stairs as I, too, have height issues! Good for you to "walk thru your fear" and go to the top, proud of you, Brian.
I visited Astoria and Chinook in the 70s and 80s visiting my grandparents. Still have an uncle who is an accountant for the city of Astoria. Pretty cool to see this place present day.
I'm not a van-dweller, but as a female retired teacher I have a 1998 Lazy Daze and tow my 2002 Honda CR-V. You're quite the inspiration, and I'm in awe of your "work ethic." All the best to you in your travels...
Brian, I enjoy your channel. I am partial to Clatsop County Oregon area( I'm from Seaside)and its good to see you out here. There are so many great places to camp and enjoy nature, and the area is rich in history. If I weren't out of state at the time, I would buy you lunch at the Fort George Brewery! Thanks for sharing.
I will be sooooooooooo ready to start our Adventure in 2 yrs.... So ready!... What a Life... Love it!... Thanks Brain for doing these for us...... and letting us Tag along....
I loved Astoria and all the beauty of Oregon! Thank you so much for sharing! I realized how much I missed Oregon, love your videos and for taking me along on your journey, may God bless you abundantly, young man!
Nice video Brian. Got your routine going and you have an awesome environment and yummy food! Living life while were alive! Made my night! Was like I was there ! Cool!
It was about two years ago and this was the first video I had seen from your channel. Only thought it was appropriate to watch it again. Thanks for all your work Brian, safe travels.
Ahhh, the memories watching this video. Forty- one years ago, summer of '78, I was often in this town. My how it's grown. I was engaged to someone there. I've been up that column. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
Ripp Snortin' it amazes me everytime I see the thumbs down. I enjoy everyone of Brian's videos so much, it blows me away to see people being negative about them. SMH...
Marie Taylor Amazingly enough TH-cam still considers thumbs down channel interaction. The thumbs down can often be to keep liked videos from your suggested list.(ie: non subscribers) Not always a negative. It's the zero 👍👎 against the number of views that effect the channels biorhythm. (sorry B I always watch more than once) I always 👍before I watch Brian's videos :) ✌
OK. I do believe your videos are the most refreshing. My camping itinerary is now going to have to include Astoria when I come back to Oregon from the Sierras in September.
Thanks Brian for your videos, and thank you again for being respectful, no four letter words, no foul language and always seem to be in a positive attitude and appreciate your surroundings.
Reminds me of climbing the lighthouse in St. Augustine. It's about the same height, but there's no center post so you can look straight down the middle.
I haven't been to Astoria since I was a teenager. The town made an impression on me way back then and I've always longed to go back. Someday. Thx for the great video.
Thanks for sharing your visit to Astoria. The Column tour and view was awesome. You make great, interesting videos, Brian. I always look forward to seeing them. 😊
Brian, I have been following your adventure for some time now and Have always come away with renewed joy. I really enjoy the flute, it is certainly soothing. I air brush and have constructed air storage tanks from pvc pipe. The idea came to me while doing a plumbing project and noticing that the pipe was rated for two hundred and fifteen pounds pressure. This led me to plumb an entire eighty foot truck garage air system with pvc. I have since constructed several air storage tanks using six inch pvc pipe. I buy the heavy end caps and drill and tap them for fittings. I have hung them in the overhead to conserve space and since have mounted them under my truck using heavy duty wire ties. I have never had a failure If you were to mount a long tank behind your shower water tank you could have a monster air storage capability. Having a smaller tank , a one way check valve and well thought out plumbing you would have air for fifteen showers before filling the large tank. This set up would also allow you to fill the water tank to capacity as air pressure will be added by the small tank. I have a strange mind and tend to visualize these things but I at challenged when it comes time to make someone else see my vision. If this project is of any interest to you I could be bribed to draw it out. The benefit of having air on board would be awesome. If you fill the large tank at truck stops where they have more air and at a greater pressure, you could have one hundred fifty pounds up there. Fix a tire flat and inflate it quickly. Air powered water pump? Ideas are endless. I'll be watching to see if any of this works for you. God Bless and stay safe,
Thanks for taking us along for the beautiful ride Brian. This time next year I'll be on the road full time . I am in the process of rebuilding my 93 chevy van from the ground up. Maybe we will cross paths someday. Thumbs up...
Great to revisit this, I remember it well even though I have seen very many videos since this was one of the first that I have seen since watching regularly for the past two years, I found this in my suggestions back then
Thought you pulled the trigger and added a high top on 'ol Adventure Van. That one was kinda weird with the cab over. You don't wanna embarrass your partner in crime!! ✌
That was a great all around video. I live in northern California and often watch your videos before work. Had i done that today , i may have called in sick and drove to Astoria . What a beautiful place . Thx for taking us along
That was the perfect day for me. Thank you. It would have been fun to have a moped to use in town to go up and down those big hills and see the housing and see everything. I really would have enjoyed Mo's.
Brian, I really enjoyed this episode more than usual. Fun to get a fuller picture of your day-to-day like this every once and a while. Thanks for sharing! 👍
If you're still around Astoria, consider checking out the Maritime Museum downtown. It's a little expensive, but very interesting. I had no idea how difficult the Columbia bar (the confluence of the Columbia river and the ocean) was to navigate, even for the larger vessels. If you don't make the museum, at least google and read about it. They call it the "graveyard of the Pacific", and if you end up at the south lighthouse at Cape Disappointment as you head north, you can see the north and south jettys, which makes up the bar.
Love that you're in Oregon. My brother (Mazda Road Life) got me onto your channel and just jumped on board as you headed into the Pacific Northwest, which my whole life I've been super interested in. Happy days!
Man, I love Astoria. I bet it was a big hippie town back in the 70's. That mural on that tower was amazing,.great artist that did that, and amazing views indeed. I very much enjoyed this one Brian,.much peace and safe travels to ya. ✌

between cannon beach and astoria there is an old military base you can explore. great echo in the underground bunkers, and a story about how japan sub was spotted but it was a week end and they didnt want to call anyone in to fire at it.
Lewis and Clark's first sighting of the Pacific Ocean where you were pointing toward Washington State. Then they wintered south on the bay where you traveled up from Oregon. Good vantage pointing hahaha.
