I just have to share my "adventure" with dinkie dino: So, I was desperate to get this little toy back in my life for nostalgia's sake after 27 years (I'm 35, I had it when I was about 8). I ordered one from Japan and payed good money for it. Unfortunately as clumsy as I am I popped in the right-side battery wrong and I was unable to remove it. I quickly looked it up on the internet how to remove stuck batteries and I came across an ingenious idea to put a little bit of super glue on top and try to remove it that way. Of course, as much as I tried to be careful the super glue somehow got snuck to the lower battery compartment, completely glueing the already stuck battery in place. Great. It got so stuck I had to unscrew the 4 micro screws to open the tamagotchi up to get it out but the two screws on the top side were completely unmoveable. I had to force open the toy from below, reach in with a screwdriver and pop out the battery. At this point I said goodby to the toy as I thought it could never survive an "attack" like that, but to my biggest surprise it turned on and works! I'm happy as can be, I would be happier if this toy would be manufactured again - without screws and with the possibility to charge it with a micro USB cable, lol. :D
look into dinkie penguin it is the same as the dinkie dino but without the headaches of the original. it runs better, the buttons dont have issues, etc. and etc. A lot of the issue comes from people getting old stock and not putting 357/303 energizer batteries in. If you haven't tried those EXACT batteries, there is still hope. Also, the buttons sticking seem to un-do themselves as you continue to use them. there is even a little trick to take the shell apart and put aluminum foil sheet under the buttons for better contact.
Sorry, but I can't stop laughing. That was the weirdest virtual pet "birth" I've ever seen. Anyways, thanks for the video, it's very instructional. Sadly, alcohol isn't ink friendly for most toys. To protect the logos I put a thin layer of transparent nail polish. I make a previous test placing a small drop, and if it works, I damp the applicator brush with polish and then apply it by tapping on the logo to prevent getting brush marks or wiping off the ink. It doesn't look very fancy but I prefer that to having the paint damaged.
Well, that's a nice idea. Specially for this kind of stuff, with a not so strong paint. I'll keep that in mind and make some tests here. Thanks for the sugestion!
@@shipoftheseus-reviverestore yeah haha. Looks fake, and then to have the baby character on there, it is hilarious. The original Dinkie Dino only had dinosaur/dinosaurs that began all the same and evolved depending on its upbringing.

This is a fake dinkie Dino.
Yes, it is. This one is called "Dinkie Dinoa". I found out it's fake only after I did the repair.
