Glad to see you're still among us SHW, I was concerned for a bit. Nice game review. - Nice color rules - Major kudos for adopting the rounded cornered counters, I bought a set of 2mm & 3mm pliers just for this. - Crossover for Down in Flames. - Nice color Player Aids - Nice looking mounted game Board - - OK come on SHW, you know you want to open up the Card Packs - very nice looking cards! - Interesting condensing of "Pilot" Skill" on the cards where it encompasses the whole aircraft not just the pilot. - The "Little Friends" air cover Cards..Yes, the P-80 Shooting Star did fly in the very last part of the war a few times...nice addition. This game looks like it has a ton of options to make it an interesting series. I'm sorry I didn't do the Kickstarter for this but instead I did the DVG Israeli Air Force Leader. I may pick this up at the game store anyway.
Great job as always Derek. I just got this game and would love to see a nuts and bolts video to get me up and running. I am new to wargaming (mostly Victory Point Games' States of Siege and Silent Victory).
Missed you my friend. Damn good to see & hear you again! Looks like another quality produced great game from DVG. Needless to say, it will look good on the table & on the shelf. Gonna place it right beside my copy of B-17: Queen of the Skies in my bookcase. Can't wait for you to review this one as well as a whole lot more that are pending when you can find the time as real life matters grants you the time to do so. Just glad to see you Derek and know that you're ok!
Wow! So glad to see you back, Derek. I read over on bgg that you were looking for a copy of Patton' s Best (a long time ago anyway). Shoot Joetaco a message over there, if you are interested.
Was watching the game play video by the game designer Dean Brown and was thinking about sequence of play cards. If DVG was smart, they would make some up and place them BGG for download. Makes new games a lot easier. :)
Awesome video, can't wait to see if you do a "nuts & bolts" vid as well!? This one has been on my wargaming radar for some time, can't wait to get my hands on a copy. DVG has been cranking out some super games as of late, and this one looks really terrific!
After watching the overview video then Marco's review, I watched your unboxing to get a good view of the game to see if it's anything I would be interested in. I have to say seeing the quality of the game and finding out you can resolve air combat with Down in Flames I not only bought B-17 Leader but Down in Flames as well. I bought Queen of the skies after watching your review and stuka joe's excellent video series with no regrets, so I'm sure this will be a brilliant edition to my game collection. Thanks for the videos, they provide great information for people interested in the games 👍
Hello SHW,Thanks for the review! And the back of the box so I could see how many cards were included. Need to order some card sleeves when I order the game. Yes, another game! I just can't stop :)Riff
yeah got mine; haven't had a chance to open it yet. HEAVY (box-before-opening-mass) == GOOD! :) Yep Std DVG rulebook: Chk! I.e. well done. Pre rounded counters. Yeah; DVG has always done well with punch out ease; come out like butter. Wonderfull to see over w/ Down In Flames. Looks like DVG has done it well again. Ala Warfighter, etc.
Very nicely done, as always. But, and I am probably wrong, I thought the game itself was just a single bomber and the mini game was for Squadron or Groups.
Why, oh why they are still using those "CGI" pictures on cards...there are soo many great pictures from that period. Same thing in my Phantom Leader Deluxe... Gr8 vid! :)
When are you going to review it? How do you think it will be different from AH's B-17? I'm intrigued because that's why I passed on it. I'm already complete for "B-17, Queen of the Skies"
+Jim Smith Soon, I hope. This looks A LOT more involved than QotS. A lot more choice, less procedural. Plus you're running a whole squadron instead of one plane
Hey... how have you been lately? Been checking in, periodically, to see what games are on your table. DVG wrote me and they will send me "Huey Leader" when it is ready. I imagine you'll get yours first... hope you review it. I recently received "Las Barricadas", tactical combat during the Spanish Civil War... great game. Have you been sent "Commancaria" from GMT yet? Hope you review it...
Hey Boss, Hope everything is going well for you. . I just sent a letter to GMT games in reference to a suggestion for Carl Paradis (No Retreat Series, which I love). Well GMT sent Carl my letter and he contacted me... what a thrill. He filled me in on future plans, very interesting. I you are interested i could post it here.
Expertly done as usual Derek - love the close-in shots of all the goodies! Can't wait to open, smell, and dive into mine tomorrow!
Great to see you back, would really like to see a Hall of Awesomeness Video for 2016!

Good to see you producing a video again! The game materials look top notch here.
Nice to see you back with another DVG game! Great video. Thanks!
Great job as always Derek. I just got this game and would love to see a nuts and bolts video to get me up and running. I am new to wargaming (mostly Victory Point Games' States of Siege and Silent Victory).
Well, I also use a hobby-knife when unpacking cards. ;)
Great video Derek. Another game on my wishlist. ^^
Howdy from Baltimore! Great to see you back with another great video!
Thanks Derek. Tons of content in that box. I hope it plays well.
Glad you're back Derek!

Still kicking :)
Aircraft Factories targets are really important. Found that out the hard way.
Great video. Looks like I will have to pull the trigger on this. Lots of goodness inside that box.
Welcome back Derek. Missed your videos although it did save me some money. This game is very tempting.
Always good to see your videos, Derek!
Good to see you back!
Wow! So glad to see you back, Derek.

Thanks :) Found one awhile ago in beautiful shape.
So good to see something on the channel! It's been too long.
+Brian Finkelstein
Yes, it has. Sorry about that. Life refuses to cooperate with my gaming!
Nice to see you, amigo! I already picked up the game, but I'm looking forward to see what you have to say. Best wishes! Joe

I agree, Riff. They can certainly help, there's 15 phases per turn. Let's see.
+Stuka Joe
Hey Jose! Glad to hear from you, my friend! Hope all is well :)
Euro style die cut counters!! Awesome.
Awesome video, can't wait to see if you do a "nuts & bolts" vid as well!? This one has been on my wargaming radar for some time, can't wait to get my hands on a copy. DVG has been cranking out some super games as of late, and this one looks really terrific!

I'll be giving this the full treatment when time permits :)
Derek, I really enjoy your videos, you do such a super job! Family first obviously, when time permits on the videos; roger that.
Anyone know when this flying fortress card game will be available in retail ?

Good to see you my man!
I see this features the usual DVG flimsy box and cheap components. (Joke.)
But seriously, welcome back.
I just pre-ordered mine from CoolStuff this morning and voila, I see your review. Happy I did so now.
Very nicely done, as always. But, and I am probably wrong, I thought the game itself was just a single bomber and the mini game was for Squadron or Groups.
+Trevor Henderson
Yeah...the single bomber and mini-game are the extras. The main game is whole squadrons
Well done guy! Thanks much.
