Hey John. There is a private bus arranged by the outfitter when you book a trip to Cayo Cruz. They either pick you up directly from the airport, or from the city center if you have stayed the night there. Let me know if I can help you book a trip. Jon

Also John, many of the good fishing areas in Cuba are controlled by the government, in association with an outfitter to whom the government grants a license. Anyone entering that fishing area must then be associated with the outfitter. There are only a few places with decent access to DIY fishing. The resorts around Cayo Coco are probably the best. Cuba is not a great place to try and do a DIY trip. There are much better places in the Bahamas for example for that program

Hi- like your presentation... I want to bring a small group from Canada and the 'States to fish but I was thinking Zapata. Now I am not sure. Assuming politics and COVID permit, what is your choice? I like your idea but where is the best action for the buck? Also amazing vid.

Wow wow how do you know so much about my country? 🥰🥰I wish my fellow Cuban people can enjoy these beautiful places. Most of the Cuban population have no idea how the Cuban keys are.

Hola Amigo.....Well, I do love Cuba and have been there many times. I too think it is sad that Cubans have so little opportunity to know some of these beautiful places that you have. Thanks very much for your comment....it makes me happy to hear this from a Cuban!

Great information. Just wish there was some video and pictures to see the area.

Monique. Thanks for your quick note. I have been in Cuba and unable to respond. When you say that you wish there "was some video and pictures to see the area" what are you meaning? The hotel and resort? If that is the case, it is only because I have not been there since the resort opened a few months ago. Or, are you meaning the general area of Cuba around Cayo Cruz? I always appreciate suggestions so that I can make these videos as helpful as possible, and appreciate your comments. Jon

@@joncovichofcubafishingoutf7657 Thanks Jon, I'm interested in the beaches. I've been to Cayo Largo so the bar has been set high regarding the natural beaches. Thus far I have seen very few pictures of the area around the new resort.

@@moniquekova9185 Thanks Monique. Like you, I have not seen the beaches now that the resort is in place. I will reach out to some people who may have photos. You are right that the beaches on Cayo Largo are impressive to say the least. The north shore of Cuba, in general, has beautiful beaches as well. Here is a link to my page on Cayo Santa Maria where the beaches are also quite amazing........www.cubafishingoutfitters.com/cayo#gardensoftheking

@@joncovich712 I was able to find a few photos Monique. The outfitter here says that from the hotel, you are able to use golf carts to go to the same beaches used by the Valentin Cayo Cruz hotel. There are a few on this link......valentin cayo cruz

Thanks for the nice note. Permit live in and around Cayo Cruz every month of the year. The most important ingredients, however, are water temperature and tides. If you get cold water, the fish will probably stay deep. Permit can access tides generally on the later part if an incoming, through the first half or so of outgoing. So, if you have a week where the tides allow you ample time to fish for them, then your chances increase dramatically. Hope that you may consider using me to book your Cuba trips in the future!
