    It’s really hard to believe that the big one and nemesis were built in the same year. Totally different eras of roller coasters.

    • @bennickss
      @bennickss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shockwave (Intamin standup) was also built in 1994!

    • @iitzfizz
      @iitzfizz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just commented this on another video.
      Nemesis still feels modern to this day, B&Ms age much better imo, like fine wine

    • @iitzfizz
      @iitzfizz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As much as i love the Big One and it's a big part of my childhood and I'll always hold a special spot for it I can't help but think what kind of B&M they could have built with all that room

    • @gemmachaos
      @gemmachaos ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iitzfizz Not all of them do (looking at you, Dragon Khan) but Nemesis totally holds up, still one of the best. The fact that is is a bit more blunt and less refined than newer B&Ms (compare and contrast Black Mamba) gives it an edge that others lack.

    When you put the big one below revolution I was initially shocked but then when I thought about it I completely agree, the big one is a brilliant ride and obviously a classic to the pleasure beach but I think after the first drop it’s sort of just a long dragged out ride, whereas revolution is really the only ride I genuinely get nervous to go on and the wait to go backward is so intense!

    • @Andy7907
      @Andy7907 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed: nothing much really happens after that first drop. If there was a loop at some part of it it'd be a different story!

    • @liamcollinson5695
      @liamcollinson5695 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to disagree you just go forward and backward on revolution the big one is far superior at least for me

    Infusion is an awful ride, but I love the off ride look. I would gaze at it in awe as a child, wondering what it is like to be flipped upside down. When I finally rode it, I wish I hadn’t. Not even worth the credit

    Went pleasure beach to ride my first ever rollercoasters last week. Went straight on the big one- what a ride! Went on infusion as well. My mate told me to put my head right back just like you said and I’m very glad I did. Not a great one. Very excited to go to Alton towers hopefully next year, but loved blackpool. Live in Preston, so it’s very nearby.

    Haven’t done any of them yet but I’m certainly looking forward to getting out there hopefully this year to ride them classic woodies. They may be getting rough now like everyone says but they’re classics and the park wouldn’t be the same without them

    I'm in Blackpool this week, and have done all the coasters, so here is my 2022 rank.
    1. Icon - Hands down the best coaster I've ever been on, so smooth while keeping the speed and intensity. Love the launch, love the inversions, love the two parts to it, just love everything about it. Miles ahead of everyrthing else in the park
    2. The Big Dipper - An absolute classic. I was on this yesterday and actually clapped at the end of it, such a fun ride, and given its so old, quite the achievement
    3. Grand National - The first coaster I ever rode back in the 80s. A little rough in places, but the racing dynamic is still great, and the dips are fantastic. Great speed too.
    4. Infusion - Gets a lot of bad press, but I love it. It's a little short, it's a little bumpy, but overall the most intense ride in the park. Had it been as smooth a Icon, would be challenging it for the top spot.
    5. Revolutuon - Another classic, too short, but that backwards section still gives me the fear!
    6. Nickelodeon Streak - AKA the Roller Coaster, a good old fashioned ride, nice.
    7, Avalanche - A dull coaster really, nice and fast, but not much to it.
    8. Steeplechase - Decent, classic ride. Not fast enough for me, but still ok.
    9. Blur Flyer - Simple, short, for kids really, but still quite fun.
    10. The Big One - This used to be my favourite ride, but other than the first drop which is still great, the rest of the ride is the most painful experience I've ever had on a coaster. I'm going back to the Pleasure Beach tomorrow and this is the only coaster I'm not going back on. Iconic, can see it for miles, but awful other than the first drop.

    Great video as usual! haven’t been on icon or avalanche yet but my top 8 is:
    8: Infusion (too rough)
    7: Blue Flyer (one of my first coasters)
    6: Steeplechase
    5: Big One (I find it rough and a bit of a monorail)
    4: Nickelodeon Streak
    3: Revolution (my first coaster with an inversion)
    2: Grand National (last time I rode it wasn’t too rough)
    1: Big Dipper
    Love the Big Dipper so much because I love my history and it’s the 9th oldest coaster in the world!!! Is Leap the Dips in the USA on your bucket list? because it definitely is on mine!

    Shawn, I’d be really intrigued to know; as well as park rankings, have you ever considered doing rankings of different ride types? For example, your ranking of the RMCs, or your ranking of the B&M hyper coasters? I’d imagine that you’ve probably done quite a significant proportion of most of the major ride types now, so I’d be really intrigued to hear your opinion on some of them!

    Firstly I'd like to say i'm really enjoying your output of late Shawn. I would place Nick Streak higher than the Grand National. I used to love the National back in the day but in recent years it's become uncomfortably rough whereas the Streak is still kind of smooth for an old woodie IMO.

    My friends dad worked on Revolution. He invited me over to the ride one morning (for a freebie 😉). I got on the front row, and he kept my harness locked and didn't let me off, so I don't know how many times I rode that thing in a row! 🤣🤣 So dizzy when I got off 😂

    9. Revolution - The least-interesting roller coaster at the park in my opinion, but still good. I can't actually remember the last time I went on this, but not for a few years.
    8. Avalanche - Short but very good fun indeed.
    7. Steeplechase - One of the best family coasters out there.
    6. Nickelodeon Streak - A very, very enjoyable wooden coaster and wonderfully smooth, just not quite as memorable as the other two big wooden coasters here.
    5. Big Dipper - An absolute classic that's only grown on me with repeat rides.
    4. Infusion - I've had my rough rides on this, but for the most part I find it to be a very thrilling and enjoyable coaster that gives a great front-seat ride.
    3. and 2. - Big One and Grand National - These two are interchangeable; they're both just absolutely great. Yes, the lack of airtime on The Big One (after the first drop) is disappointing, but it's still a fast, exhilarating ride.
    1. Icon - Now one of the finest coasters in the UK. The launches are a little weak but other than that, bravo. A great number one coaster for, aside from Thorpe Park, the best UK theme park IMO.

One time i came back and got thr courage to ride ICON and ever since I would just ride anything. About 2 weeks ago i even did infusion again, and I can say that it felt nowhere near as intense or scary as it used to. Great list! I don't ride - well River Caves every nown again... but my partner is a fanatic. So I sit in the Coasters Bar with my 10% off diamond card and you can see six of the coasters. Avalanche looks scruffy. I don't understand why they don't keep it dazzling white and then there's that queue. Dipper is the only coaster that makes every car scream. Heritage or not that is IMHO the coaster that hooks people. Revolution is brilliant and unique too. Apparently Infusion is great but my partner is 6 foot 4 so the head smashing business doesn't apply. Grand National is proper knackered at the moment... it is rough. Icon is Iconic. I think Amanda wanted the four elements in the park: Valhalla as water, Big One as air, Ghost Train as earth and Icon as Fire as the dragon plays in the park. So 1: Icon 2: Big Dipper 3: Revolution 4: Ghost Train... It is an old version of Space Mountain and I do consider it a coaster 5: Big One - the queue line is daft and there is far too much 'av it culture...hmm around the ride. Also it isn't sponsored anymore, there is no theming and it is just big not record breaking anymore - best place to see it is from the BVLD hotel garden which isn't even in the park. Sorry for such a long comment but I am passionate about the place. Loved the vlog!

    Hello Shawn the grand national at Blackpool was absolutely awful and really rough and jolty but I know that you may enjoy it but for me no because I have experienced the wicker man coaster at alton towers and i was by far the best wooden coaster i have ever ridden on in my life.

    Mostly agree with this. Id have Nickelodeon Streak a bit higher. Icon is so much better than i thought. Its deceiving off-ride. Looks slow but feels totally different and immersive on ride

    10) Steeplechase. Awful ride and not sure how its allowed to remain open. How they haven't had people falling off it to their deaths every week is a mystery. Anyone with weak upper body muscles should not ride this... I think you could easily fall off.
    9) Infusion. Agree with you.. its horribly rough and I won't ride it again.
    8) Avalanche. This rattles your brains out too, and because you sit pretty much on the floor of the trains it feels like the trains are going to rattle themselves apart. Gives me a headache.
    7) Blue Flyer. Nostalgic fun. I remember riding this as a 7 or 8 year old boy about 4 times in a row with my dear old Pops handing out a new ticket so i didn't have to get off. Fond memories.
    6) Nik Streak. Enjoyable fun.
    5) Big Dipper. Even better fun.
    4) Revolution. Yep, underrated. I remember when it opened and I was too young to ride, but the rest of my family went on it. It packs a surprising punch and the push is great.
    3) Big One. Its a good ride, but it drags on a bit towards the end... and even the first drop chickens out a bit. The first drop would be so much better if it did a sharp right turn on the top on a level before dropping straight down at a steeper angle.
    2) Grand national. Its not so long ago I though this was the best ride in the country. Shure its a bit rough like some of the other rides, but damn its fun when the trains lilterally jump off the track.
    I've learned to ride the Grand National by sitting just off the seat with your legs providing some suspension. If you aren't expecting it, your back will take a hit.
    1) Ikon. Easily the best ride at the park.
    However let's not forget about the best Ghost Train in the country.

    i first went to this park when i was 6 10 yrs ago, and went again for the opening week of ICON, and ive got to say this park is underrated and deserves more attention throughout the world. Hopefully we get some new attractions throughout the next decade to boost this park to its full potential.

    This park is really good for pacing so many rides in such a small area. Black pool pleasure beach says, who needs to expand when you can find a way to work with what you got. This park is like the UK Gröna Lund.
