I want to say Thanks for this video! I work as a Cam op /Dp on alot of reality shows and studio completion reality shows. Usually we have coms that com from the rental houses on the studio shoots and house reality show info and they are super expensive and only good for where everything is centralized and not full field shoots . I just wrapped a big house reality Netflix shoot the Dp mentioned how he had a smaller shoot coming up where he needed a com system good for a travel shoot that he and his smaller camera team can communicate outside of the normal walkies. Then I remembered this video, sent it to my Dp and he instantly bought these!
Also I got to come along on his smaller set to help provide some gear and I’m getting to test these out. We’re in day 3 me, my Dp and his whole team are over the moon happy with hollyland C1! We ever were able to throw a couple of our pa’s on it (Dp bought the 8 pack) and it’s been next level efficiency on set!
You should get a commission because I’m buying a set so I can use with my teams in the future and to rent them out since I have a small Rental company based out of Raleigh Nc.
Then I’m suggesting this to anyone who’ll listen!! The word is going to spread about these. So hollyland about to make some money especially when works pickup!

Thank you for this video. From all the good reviews of the Hollyland units I was really planning to get them. I do corporate events and they would be great for that but I also do concerts so the Eartec might be better for that. I still want the Hollyland but looks like the Eartec is the way to go.

      For loud events, definitely Eartec!

EarTecs are great and they’ve been pretty solid, but it’s good to know another option. The worst thing I’ve found is that on/off button getting stuck.

Great video, picked up a set based on your review. How are you recording you guys talking?

I use the hub system and you can feed it directly into a laptop as an input device. The much easier method is slapping a lav mic on an extra headset.

So these systems are generally beneficial for camera teams on set? I noticed that channels are not available outside of the A/B groups . So what would be a alternative to have something similar with the options of multiple groups (5+)

May be a bit late to ask this since you have spent pretty much time testing the cover range but...have you guys done obstacle test as well? like going to different rooms, communicate with walls in between, above that adding 100-200 metres distance? Was curious if I need to place a C1 pro hub base in sub area right next to my switcher, will my cam ops be able to connect from outside.

I’m comparing the systems in your review for use on my catamaran. Given the frequent ambient noises on a dock, and no concerns over speaking volume, it seems the Eartec system might be the right choice to crush any wind noise. Thanks for your review!

      Definitely the right choice!

Add a fur wind bubble to solve the noise gate issue.

I have a TV truck and I need to mount the antennas of the hub outside the truck. Any suggestions?

Any chance you could post and update on the FX6s and FX6. Rental rates? Long term issues? Surprises? Demand by clients? Interchangeability? Etc

Great review. I produce multi-camera live streams, and currently use the eartec system. But usually I have 2 headsets on, one to monitor audio, and the 2nd to communicate with my team. Do you have experience with the Hub>? I see it has an XLR input, can I monitor audio from the program, and communicate with the team at the same time? Also, can the audio input be heard with the whole team?

Saramonic WItalk has the HUB that could be used for 2- 17 people and could have a try. They also have dual-ear headsets for noisy situation.

All I want is a good production walkie for people with Afro's or other big hair. I always get given these and am like "WTF am I supposed to do..?"
Where are my behind-the-neck and over-the-ear options?

    • @robchado

Great point! An in-ear intercom headset might work- but you would need the belt pack version to use your own mic.

It's the same terms used for syncing multiple flashes for photography.

    • @muralighting
      @muralighting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

yeah unfortunately it became a standard for flash strobe triggers but canon is moving away from that

I absolutely agree, just terrible, if you think about the term's origin... Let's try to introduce new terms!
