I was traveling cross country and stopped at a truckstop. I saw a couple obviously of modest means filling out scan card lottery tickets. The stack was at least 5 inches tall. It was tax return time so I only assumed they were blowing their entire tax return check. They must have been thinking that if the buy a lot of tickets then their odds of hitting it big would be better.
