Japan won the 2 that the US didn't participate in, and finished 2nd twice when the US won, taking the US to overtime once but getting blown out in the last one. CANADA MADE AMERICAN FOOTBALL!! “In May 1874, after a match against McGill University of Montreal, the Harvard players decided they preferred McGill’s rugby-style rules to their own,” “In fact, the Harvard squad extremely enjoyed the Canadian innovations. 😅 If not for CANADA American football today would be a soccer game with touchdowns!

The American public was never notified that this game was happening and not only that, none of us recognized a single name that was sent over there. So that team may say TEAM USA, but nobody who was actually good at the game was sent. To put it in comparison, it’s like sending the fans of a national team’s bench to play against Argentina in the World Cup, that’s the literal context. These aren’t actually players, just players who thought they could’ve played.

This is the same situation that happened with the Baseball World Cup. The tournament doesn't mean anything so either the 4-5 star athletes dont want to go especially since they have to pay for entry and potentially risk getting injured and losing out on their future careers or they want to go and the coaches won't let them for the same reason.

    、日本でアメフトが始まったのが1934年なので既に90年の歴史があります。

It's pretty absurd that Japan beats the USA in Football but just as insane as the Superbowl winners calling themselves World Champions when no other country plays professional football. I played Tight End for the British American football team and represented Great Britain on tour in England, Wales, California and Australia, Hawaia. Beat the piss out of Australia in NSW (I caught the only passing touchdown) but the US (Cal Tech) beat us-it was a blast! Circa 1989!

I must say, even I, a Japanese, could not have imagined this outcome.
It is true that in the world of rugby, Japan pulled off one of the greatest giant-killing feats of all time, and the Japanese team has since come to be recognized as a strong team.
But rugby is a sport with as long a history in Japan as baseball or soccer.
    American football is quite different.
Even the players on the Japanese rugby team will tell you that American football is the soul of America, the best in the world, without a doubt.
Japan does not even have a professional American football league, let alone a high-level national championship.
Maybe the Japanese team did the best they could with the most talented players and coaches in history, but neither rugby nor American football can be won by luck or a little bit of talent.
Everyone may be surprised and unconvinced by this result, but the U.S. team coach should be the first one to explain how this happened.
