Key & Peele - Les Mis

- The villain of a historical epic struggles with the fact that this epic also happens to be a musical (a la "Les Mis").
About Key & Peele:
Key & Peele showcases the fearless wit of stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the duo takes on everything from “Gremlins 2” to systemic racism. With an array of sketches as wide-reaching as they are cringingly accurate, the pair has created a bevy of classic characters, including Wendell, the players of the East/West Bowl and President Obama’s Anger Translator.

I NEED a "Now, where did this bitch come from" as a text tone. Also hands down one of the best sketches to have ever happen.
if you record the clip, you can make it a file, then put it into garage band. there you can make it a ringtone.
That was the vest part. 🤣
"why are we all facing the same waaayyy" that line got me 😂😂
@@rochambeau7197 Hero, no cape. Thank you.
That woman’ voice was outstanding. And what a brilliant skit!
Toni Bauer that’s Nicole Parker. She’s an alum in Madtv same as Key and Peele.
@@APRILtheCowardlyGamer akways fun to see familiar madtv faces pop up in their sketches.
She's phenomenal
According to Google she actually played Elphaba for a period of time in Wicked on broadway. Definitely makes sense.
🎵 🎵 WHY ARE WE COMMENTING ON THE SAME PAAAAAAAAAAGE !!!!!!! 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵
My favourite bit of trivia is when Peele appears to say "Legateaux" at the start in reference to Key's character, but he's actually reading "Legato" from the stage direction, which means he should sing smoothly. It's as if he said "Enter stage right".
Ooh the more you know the more you notice
im so glad you pointed that out that's awesome
I thought that was the name of Key's character lmao
Thank you for your service, good person -- this just got that much funnier 😂😂😂
i thought he was calling keegan a cake 🤣
I swear Key is a human Swiss Army Knife of accents
You could tell he was basing it off of Colm Wilkinson too, which was wonderful
Like Trevor Noah
Roma Trevor Noah is a whole ass toolbox
pretty sure his wife is an accent coach for actors, etc...
No he is a master key
when the music in a comedy sketch is low-key great
Nothing low-key about it. this is fucking awesome
It is pretty a-peele-ling
see th-cam.com/video/fUspLVStPbk/w-d-xo.html
Better than the movie and I'm serious.
The Lonely Island's rap parodies are insanely good songs, too
This has to be one of their best skits ever. And Peele can actually sing very well.
So sick of seeing Substitute Teacher which is like Teir 5 Key and Peele. There's so many K&P great skits gone unknown.
He's even got that little sibilant "shlurr" like Colm Wilkenson (who originated Valjean) had (the sh in "Lock my ssshoul away") - it's so specific, I've got to assume it's intentional, and that's the sort of touch that only someone who knows musical theater well could add.
I concur. This has to be their best performance on the show period!!
Peele has very good voice
The power of wings made that known lol
The sheer amount of talent on display here is mind blowing. The writing, the performances, the costumes, the set, and of course THAT WOMAN'S VOICE.
More talent on this screen then there are pixels on an OLED screen
And the camera work!
I just can’t get over the quality of production on K&P!! Their shows have the production quality of a high-budget primetime network show. Do you realize how hard it is to put something like that together? Yeesh!
She's Nicole Parker. She went on to have a very successful career on Broadway in shows like Wicked
I dont like her
I lost my shit when he sang, " NOW WHERE DID THIS BITCH COME FROM?!"
same😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I actually re-listen to this over and over again just for the "Where did this bitch come from!?" line.
+Benjamin Krauter u find it?
lol i think it's the funniest part
I'm having a key and peele marathon, watching every video... one at time ;D
Can we all appreciate the fact that without using the music from the movies they made new music incredibly similar to the original for each character
Seriously. They knocked it out of the park.
They put the pussy on the chainwax
Using the real music would be expensive. Unless the wrote new parody lyrics, which maybe they could have, but it would have been more restrictive.
This version by Key and Peeled is actually better acted and sung than the Broadway original!!
Magnificent
"Now where did this bitch come from!?" 😂 Kills me Everytime I hear that part.
That took me out too, on God 😂😂😂😂😂

I'd pay to see a whole movie remake of Les Miserables by Key and Peele.

On my Own is sung by Samantha Barks, and while it isn't her best performance ever, she still pulls off a pretty good version of the song.

@@hellohi4644 : Check out _Little Shop of Horrors,_ from 1982, made into a movie in 1986 (with Rick Moranis and Steve Martin, among others), written by the same duo (Howard Ashman and Alan Menken) who would go on to write the music for the first three[*] Disney Renaissance movies. It's comedy-horror, however, so it may not be quite what you're looking for.
[*] That's _The Little Mermaid,_ _Beauty and the Beast,_ and _Aladdin;_ _The Rescuers Down Under_ doesn't count. Ashman died while writing _Aladdin,_ but Menken went on to write music for several other Disney (and other) productions for stage and cinema, and has not stopped yet. if these guys can make such a good song as part of a comedy skit, what's the point in trying?
They kept most of the same chord progressions and beats from songs throughout the show, the lyrics are just changed to make it a parody (example: Thenardier & M. Thenardier's lyrics are to the same exact beat and chords as Master of the House)
not the first comment Regardless it still takes talent to pull it off as well as they did and it wasnt even a legit musical opera or what ever le miserable suppose to be, thats what the original comment was trying to say, so imagine if they were trying
It started as a parody of "Confrontation" then turned to a little bit of "In My Life" and finally ended with "One Day More". Perfect just perfect.

It sounds so good cause this is a parody of a song from the musical 'Les Miserables'
Listen to 'One Day More' les miserable. They sound almost the same. Key and Peele just twisted the song and lyrics.
A sort of parody of some of the Les Mis songs since in the movie with Jackman and Crowe some of the singing actually seemed liked they were competing for singing time like it’s being referenced to here.
Whoever wrote the music for this did a good job at making it sound like Les Mis, without it being Les Mis.
What is the name of this song

Someone123 it was Eponine...
That's not Fauntine, or anyone in the musical
hoa hoang This parody is just based off of the actual characters. Peele is pretty much Jean Valjean cause of the lyrics, he stole a loaf of bread. The lady, I would say is Fantine. She was pregnant with cosette before she got married, and the dad of Cosette pretty much left Fantine before she could say she was pregnant. Key = Javert. Because it's a parody, the dates and story lines don't matchup with book.

Damn. They can really sing.
Jordan sings way better than Keagan
+Ajaxlancer yes yes he can
Dont let russel crowe hear you the only thing he likes more than singing badly is fighting random people
He fight his directors and he fights his fans
It’s a problem no one understands
right
Fellows, shall we take a few moments to appreciate Nicole Parker's vocal?
Absolutely
Yes
Did she indeed sing this herself? If so, it's funny that some people, to me at least, look like they don't sing during a video and instead made a voiceover (may or may it not be their own voice). In this case, it only happens to her and not to K or P....
@@Eisdax She's really singing. She sang on Broadway before comedy.
@@salsasoul4112 I already looked it up, but still thanks.
Omg the lady that sang changes everything especially when she first started...BEAUTIFUL :')
If you ever wanted to know what comedic brilliance is, there is no better example than this skit.
relax
1:00 "I only stole a loaf of *BRAAAAAID* !"
XD
Lol i didnt even realise it. This song so catchy
It was all he needed to survive...
Lol
1:17 me to my coworkers when some Karen pulls up asking if her food is ready
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣
🤣
This was actually impressive, great job.
That "let me get in a WOOOOORD at least" was simply majestic
all of their singing is amazing especially the shorter one
I thought the same he has a very powerful voice
“This is all happening on the same block” killed me😂
This is the best les mis parody I have seen
“This all has to happen on the same block” OMG 😂😂😂
This is exemplary of Key and Peele's ability to make cutting-edge skits. I could also be partial to this one, however, as for some reason I'm amused by jokes about this book's premise. haha.
And the part where the thieves show up is hilarious, because it feels so random but is perfectly placed.
How is Nicole Parker not a bigger star? She is fantastic.
Still Searching her nose is blocking her success
@@joanmaldonado3423 OUCH!! love her tho
@@joanmaldonado3423 anyway really good singing and acting
No, she isn't.
She played Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked for six months. Amazing voice.
The lady who plays Fantine is actually the U.S. Tour's Elphaba in Wicked (has also done it on broadway). I saw her a year ago at the Civic Theatre in San Diego, and she was amazing!
i knew it! This makes me happy =)
Chinley Hinacay One more day, Les mis
That's Nicole Parker who was a fellow cast member of Key & Peeles' on Mad TV.
Definitely Nicole Parker. She also sings in one of the Scary Movie franchises.
Gayest thread ever
Lets just take a moment to appreciate how incredibly talented Kay and Peele are.
That woman has a beautiful voice i must say
As a huge fan of Les Mis, I'm so damn impressed with this. Must've watched it a dozen times by now.
Those are rookie numbers
The girl singing was just superb
+xmenxwk yeah madtv crews are always the best!! x
Apparently she was actually on Broadway as Elphaba in "Wicked." So yeah, she's a pro.
I watched the movie yesterday and saw the skit when it came out seven years ago let’s just say I didn’t realize how accurate and funny this was until now.
WHY ARE WE ALL FACING THE SAME WAAAAAAY!!
+J.R. M I think it was "Why are we all facing the sidewaaaaaaaaaay"
+Mike Mori No, J.R. M was right
she says segway
+J.R. M Only true bodygaurds towards the inside of a house and not the outside where threats could come from
+J.R. M SIDEWAY
First I laughed.
Then I replayed it for an hour.
That girl got an insanely powerful voice. Absolutely amazing!
Jan-Rune I did too
Right? I want a whole parody of Les Mis by this cast!
I lost at "its hard enough to talk to him"😂😂key's part is hilarious
i like how -javert- legateaux interrupts first, then gets all pissy about being interrupted
