Intro and start of John Deere 70 diesel

I decided to do a little introduction to my 1955 John Deere 70 diesel.
Of course, just like when you take them out into public (or in this case, turn on a camera) chaos ensues. Never a problem for months....until you "show off".
Enjoy the video, cringe at it when the little pony messes with me not once, but TWICE, and laugh at me, because you might as well!

When we took our 70 to a show the pony ground against the flywheel three times and we had to rock the tractor to try to turn the fly wheel a hair. Trailered it home and it popped right off

I just had to shake my head because it hasn't ground for years, after replacing the flywheel ring gear!

I spent many a hour/day/week/month driving one of those as a teenager.

The one I drove did not have the luxury of power steering.

The main engine starts very easy. No smoke at all.

Did you have a look at the crankshaft. Does it have a centre main bearing..

Yes this tractor has a center main bearing

Mine always leaked a very small amount of oil under the flywheel

Diesel flywheel I assume? Not great but not really going to hurt anything

I'd personally rather have an electric starter installed on them 2 cylinder diesels.

I can understand the simplicity and utility.....but I know my diesel would start if I went out right now at 2 degrees with the pony
