It is amazing to see how Sagar has grown and evolved as a Chess broadcaster over the years. His commentating skills has improved and he has a knack of identifying good stories off the board - like the Uzbek player making peace with Vaishali with flowers.

Sagar Shah is a silent kingmaker and a major reason for chess boom in India
How ? You mean Gukesh, Pragg and Arjun being at the top is due to some magic cast by Sagar and not due to the hardwork put in by these players and support from WACA. Sagar is a good chess broadcaster at best and the boom in Indian Chess in recent times is helping him not the other way around.

@@agytjax King maker not on the basis of skills but had there not been chessbase India players wouldn't have even half the popularity that they have today, his role is far more than average media coverage, I remember he had organized camps for upcoming strong players when prag and gukesh had just become gms which has helped them a lot in becoming world's elite, also chess boom didn't happen on its own, it was players performance and media coverage both combined which increased popularity
@ - I am not denying his role as a chess journalist and covering all and coming chess stars in India. As I said, he is a good chess broadcaster. You need to give credit in the right order. Players don't become better by being featured in CBI ! They become popular, because they are motivated, they train hard under the watchful eyes of their demanding coaches. Why are the coaches and seconds not praised as highly ?
I am not sure which event you are talking about that he organized. If you are referring to the event with Kramnik, it was not organized by him. He only covered it, which is good for chess fans in India.
Btw, please understand CBI is not owned by sagar shah. It is owned by the German company ChessBase and they found in Sagar a good chess journalist to further their business interests in India
