P&O Britannia Baltic Cruise 2023 | Helsinki | Spectacular Giant Skywheel views.
⚓︎ Ahoy there! Welcome to two days in Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮
Day 1: we head to the city centre for a hopon/hopoff bus tour, then we find a souvenir shop with lots of goodies, and an amazing christmas shop in the basement. We have a look around the market before heading back for a drink in the Crows Nest on Britannia
Day 2: We head to a shop called Pii Poo where Pete can indulge in some Lego shopping. We visit The Plague Park before going to the Skywheel for a ride and to see the spectacular views! We visit a beautiful Finnish Orthodox church, before heading back we see a marching band from the bus
    Stay tuned for a mini-haul! ⚓︎

@@BroadwaysAway most probably when we do a Baltic P&O cruise it will be in 2026 while i have paid off next year's Iona cruise, I've got to start paying off for Brittania for April 2025

I live in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Some day I will take a tour with that kind of a hop-on/hop-off bus because I'm interested into hear what they tell to tourists :)
It's always nice to watch videos like this because you foreign tourists have a different point of view. For example I didn't know that there's that kind of a Lego shop in Helsinki. And for another example I have been inside Uspenski cathedral last time in the 1970s.
You got a nice fridge magnet. We collect them with my wife too. We prefer cheramic 3D magnets that have the city name and some landmark of the city. Just like you bought.

Thank you for watching and commenting. It’s a big city so there is a lot to discover. I will always try to find a Lego shop 🤣 We enjoyed Helsinki, and want to return to see more that it has to offer. Always good to get a memory token of a trip and a fridge magnet is as good as any 👍🏻

Aww , I want that polar bear for my house. I love you give bathroom guidance, it’s not just us that do that then 😂 Those wheel pods do look like the SkyLiner ones

Yeah Helsinki is pretty in summer, the old part has a certain central European/imperial Russian feel. The German architects and businessmen (lthe Stockmann department store) have had a strong influence on the city.
For most of its history Helsinki (or Helsingfors in Swedish, both official) has been a predominantly Swedish-speaking city, it's still officially bilingual. Maybe you noticed that the street names are always in two languages, Finnish and Swedish, that can seem a bit confusing :)

We enjoyed Helsinki a lot. Thanks for the additional information, we plan on going back for longer in the future. Thank you for watching and commenting 😊

We are doing an overnight with P&O Britannia in September! Where did the shuttle drop off in Helsinki and was it in operation throughout the night (of the overnight)? Looking forward to this trip and love seeing some ideas from yours!

    • @BroadwaysAway

Thank you for tuning in! The shuttle drops off and picks up in the main harbour area of the city. We are not sure how late it operates but it was every 30 mins or so. The times will be on the Horizon leaflet outside your cabin the night before so you’ll be all set 😊

Really informative. Girlfriend has now located and planned Christmas shop. And has just counted our remaining Euros ....
Something that was lost in translation maybe: did you catch the P&O shuttle bus or pick the City Sightseeing one up at Hernesaari port? Can you remember how late the buses went?

    • @BroadwaysAway

      Thank you!
We caught the P&O shuttle but the City Sightseeing bus picked up at the port too so either is an option.
The last buses depend on your onboard time so hard to say 😁

@@BroadwaysAway sorry, should have said. We are doing same itinerary as you (except 2 days in Copenhagen and no Stockholm) on Britannia in Sept. Thanks for clarifying!
