The Berhinger actually sounds and little fuller and brighter to me. A more scooped type of sound. Sounds like the Berhinger is a great deal. I liked the vocal quality of the 57 better though.

Personally if you’re taking them out gigging get the shure (built like a tank) if they’re just for the studio grab the behringer (I prefer the sound) can’t go wrong really.
After using 57s for years, I actually like the Behringer more. Through headphones, it just sounded a little fuller, instead of the midrange of the Shure.
Are you sure, this didn't go through any EQ process before upload to TH-cam? Some of reviews on TH-cam are talk or even sound different? Sorry just want to be more selective to buy a microphone..

Wow, what a huge difference... More and deeper bass response on the SL75C is so obvious. Makes popping the mic so much more intense. I'd be keen to try the SL75C on a snare drum. The SM57 almost sounds thin in comparison. More weapons to get for the recording studio arsenal ...

Hard to fault either one of those mics. Behringer is good stuff for not a lot of cash. I have an older 545 Sd I use on guitars; not much difference between it and a 57 to my ears. If I needed a 57 ish mic, the behringer is a no-brainer.
It's interesting how the sl75c sounds brighter than the sm57, I own the Behringer and I'm *very* pleased with the stuff I can get from it. I got the sl75c for about US$35 here in Mexico through Amazon and I use it for guitar tracking and podcasts most of the time and the little guy always delivers. Do I feel like I need a Shure? Not at all. Would I buy another sl75c? Of course. I'm tempted to try the b-906, though...
Hey Shane, where did YOU buy it from? I'd gather Amazon, however none of the links work other than Thomann, but they're out for about 5-6 weeks. I actually preferred it in this case to the SM57 for guitar (especially on distorted tone). But I think the 57 sound much better as a vocal mic than the Behringer.
I’ve heard good things about the beghringer vocal microphone also in comparison to the sure SM 58 so this comes as no surprise. I think I might go get one for the amount of times I’m going to Mike up an amplifier and just be for a bit of fun so I’ll pick one up in Australia for 50 bucks save the coin. I have a lot of Beighringer gear. I recently purchased an acoustic pedal and it’s a gem and get super high marks on reviews also.
Personally I think Behringer 75C had way too much proximity effect on the bass frequencies. One of the typical ill-effects of a overly hot, chinese mic capsule. One of the reasons they purposely do this is to fudge the signal to noise ratio spec figures. You can really notice it on the speaking plosives test. If you record any guitar palm muting, it will really take a lot of correction in post production to sort out. If your starting out on a budget, go for it. After trying a few other chinese mics, masquerading as studio classics, my new motto is buy nice or buy twice.
Meh, and it comes down to mic PLACEMENT as well! Too much proximity? Move the mic AWAY from the speaker a few more inches or closer to the centre, less bass response. Move and listen, then BALANCE the response until it sounds good both ways!
Hey Shane. Great video. I've been using the Pyle version for home recording and it also sounds good. I even have my drums miked with the Pyle drum Mike kit. Damn I'm a cheap bastered!
ok I just got this mic and I´m very dissapointed.. it has a TERRIBLE background hum , buzz sound even when i have no fan or CA connected.. but really bad, it makes impossible to work with it to record classical guitar sounds worst than the Pyle i also bought months before

I like the Behringer better! something bugs me about the sm57, ive had one for over 20 years and just started recording electric guitar with it and i find the sm57 to mid rangy,thin and harsh. your video proves this and Behringer sounds clearer and not so midrangy! the SL75C is only 19 dollars usa price. To my ear the Behringer was fuller and brighter where the SM57 seemed a little more scooped. I'm sitting here at my laptop though so I need to get into the studio and listen on Monitors. However I am intrigued... I really want to hear this against the Pyle. I might have to buy one just to do an A/B here. Great video as always Shane.

I've had this debate for years and years. Example. Daughter's favorite singer songwriter plays a 335 type. She was showing me the Firefly for 149 US. I countered with an Epi Dot for few hundred more. Less if she bought used. Reason being that if she didn't like it, the resale would sell quicker and return more of her investment. I've no problem with Berhinger gear. I've owned many a their small mixers for use as sub boards live. Their D/I boxes were good as well. Most of this goes back to when I was living close to the bone. Buy the best you can afford. The sound would be great, but I found that there is an unacceptable amount of noise (50Hz and harmonics) anytime it's close to my guitar amp combo. Depends on location, but basically not usable if in reasonable proximity to the speaker. It looks/sounds like it induces the mains frequency maybe from mains transformer? Or that's my theory. No issue if it's far from the combo for vocal for example. I don't have another dynamic mic to try, but my cheap condenser (bm 700) is dead silent in the same placement near combo. Does anyone experience similar issue with this or other dynamic mics? I have never heard about issue like that (my combo is Ibanez TSA-30, interface Behringer umc204 btw.). Thanks.

Glenn Fricker did a SL57 / SM57 comparison and honestly I thought the SL sounded better both in his review and this one. The Shure is definitely a higher quality microphone but honestly I think this mic has it beat on every other point.
Funny. In your comparison between the E 906 and the B 906, the Behringer was darker and more closed in sounding. Here it's the opposite. A brighter and less dead sounding SM57. Me likey!
I got this affordable microphone 🎤 Behringer 75 and I am very pleased with the quality and the sound. I can even connect it directly to my camera Canon M50 via XLR to 3.5 cable and record much better sound for my voice over talking. I can go with a mixer but it is just so much more things to connect. Sometimes you just need to get things done good enough, not perfect.

I am new at this, so my question might sound silly, but would they be good for recording brass instruments? Trumpet/Flugel, trombone and tuba? any particular recommendations for that?

Little off topic here... you’re trampas green prs custom 24 se is the exact model I had before money issues kicked in ... btw I’m in no way any where near the player most are ... but that guitar was one of those that kept me playing longer , wether noodling or practicing or trying to learn songs..... the tone imo right in between strat/Tele and a Humbucker les Paul and able to venture further into the strat tone or Paul tone if need be ... watching /hearing you play the same exact guitar has made me all but decide I must replace it with same guitar asap ... it’s gorgeous on top of it
I have this mic and it sounds great but everytime it gets bumped or if you handle it for vocals it makes insanely obvious resonant noises. You can fix that by unscrewing the capsule and filling the bottom part of the shaft with epoxy. The result is a better mic than the sm57 as it sounds slightly better to me and its ridiculously cheaper!
For a super cheap mic, it does a decent job. I already have a Shure SM57, but with the SL75C costing less than £20, I would consider buying one as a back up.
Make a comparison where you match them sound as close as you can and make it an A/B. That way it will be harder to guess, cause from this video we hear the SM57 has a mid-range bump. Btw great video, showing their true sound! P.S. Behringer vs Shure SM57 & Senheiser e906 - great idea, hope you will make it asap! :)
I know patents and trade marks often expire but I'm pretty surprised at all the clones that Behringer make, especially with Roland gear. You may also not be able to copyright a tone/sound but you can with a song including instrumentals
Nice Review Shane! The Behringer seems to push more bottom and highs where the Sure is pushing more mods and highs. Nothing that couldn’t be EQ’d in or out with either one I guess. Behringer seems to have upped their bar when it comes to Mics. Years ago the band I was working with bought Behringer 5800s for rehearsals and mine still sounds decent today. Great job Shane. The Behringer is better . I am not biased , but I have been using Behringer mics for years to record guitar amps with excellent results . Not surprised .
@@intheblues Good or bad they are extremely different, notably at 2k-4k. Not saying one is worse or better. I definitely would prefer the 75c for an acoustic guitar but a 57 for an interview.
The SM57 sounds harsher and thinner and basically bumped in the higher frequencies. The Behringer sounds warmer and the mid vocal range frequencies are much more pleasing. Can’t wait to watch the B906 review to see how that does compared to the e906.
So little in it! Both absolutely do the job. I'll give the nod to the Shure but that's possibly because it's what I happen to own as a dynamic but I have a Behringer small diaphragm condenser and it is excellent.

Behringer vs SM57 - to be honest I like Behringer much more - seems much more open while SM57 seems have much big mid range bump

Well for 50 USD you can buy used sm57 so I would go that route. This mic should be cheaper if behringer wants to take over the world with it.

The fact that it can sound almost indistinguishable from a Shure SM57 with just a subtractive EQ, makes this the best option for a Home Studio.

They are both really good. It really comes down to the sound you like more. The 75C has more mids and the 906 is a more flat/open sound.

I kinda prefer the midsy character of the sm57 but the behringer isn't bad at all and it may actually be more transparent.

Can it be used with harmonica?
I got this affordable microphone 🎤 Behringer 75 and I am very pleased with the quality and the sound. I can even connect it directly to my camera Canon M50 via XLR to 3.5 cable and record much better sound for my voice over talking. I can go with a mixer but it is just so much more things to connect. Sometimes you just need to get things done good enough, not perfect.
Another great review Shane, not much in it really. I think maybe the Shure for vocals, jmo. PS. I checked out Chris Kane on youtube and had my head blown off..Why is this guy not HUGE. I listened to hours of youtube videos..It made my day man. Thanks for the heads up.. T. :)

Has anyone tried to fit the SM57 Windshield (A2WS) on the SL75 ? Or is there a compareable Windshield for the Behringer?
I am new at this, so my question might sound silly, but would they be good for recording brass instruments? Trumpet/Flugel, trombone and tuba? any particular recommendations for that?
Now Behringer need to make a copy of a copy and copy the SE Electronics copy. Copy that, over. A SE GuitarF reflection filter & ribbon microphone at a cheap price would be nice
Little off topic here... you’re trampas green prs custom 24 se is the exact model I had before money issues kicked in ... btw I’m in no way any where near the player most are ... but that guitar was one of those that kept me playing longer , wether noodling or practicing or trying to learn songs..... the tone imo right in between strat/Tele and a Humbucker les Paul and able to venture further into the strat tone or Paul tone if need be ... watching /hearing you play the same exact guitar has made me all but decide I must replace it with same guitar asap ... it’s gorgeous on top of it
SM57 seems much more balanced, but Behringer is still very good.
I have this mic and it sounds great but everytime it gets bumped or if you handle it for vocals it makes insanely obvious resonant noises. You can fix that by unscrewing the capsule and filling the bottom part of the shaft with epoxy. The result is a better mic than the sm57 as it sounds slightly better to me and its ridiculously cheaper!
For a super cheap mic, it does a decent job. I already have a Shure SM57, but with the SL75C costing less than £20, I would consider buying one as a back up.

Make a comparison where you match them sound as close as you can and make it an A/B. That way it will be harder to guess, cause from this video we hear the SM57 has a mid-range bump. Btw great video, showing their true sound!

I know patents and trade marks often expire but I'm pretty surprised at all the clones that Behringer make, especially with Roland gear. You may also not be able to copyright a tone/sound but you can with a song including instrumentals
Nice Review Shane! The Behringer seems to push more bottom and highs where the Sure is pushing more mods and highs. Nothing that couldn’t be EQ’d in or out with either one I guess. Behringer seems to have upped their bar when it comes to Mics. Years ago the band I was working with bought Behringer 5800s for rehearsals and mine still sounds decent today. Great job Shane. The Behringer is better . I am not biased , but I have been using Behringer mics for years to record guitar amps with excellent results . Not surprised .

Very different upper mid range.
They do sound different, but not in a bad way. Most people wouldn't know the difference if they heard them in a live mix.

Not saying one is worse or better.
I definitely would prefer the 75c for an acoustic guitar but a 57 for an interview.
SM 57 was a lot better on voice but the guitar on the 75 was great.
Behringer is a tad hotter. Similar to the XM8500 vs SM58.
Can't get the SL 75c here in Spain. It doesn't appear on Amazon ES or UK.
The SM57 sounds harsher and thinner and basically bumped in the higher frequencies. The Behringer sounds warmer and the mid vocal range frequencies are much more pleasing. Can’t wait to watch the B906 review to see how that does compared to the e906.

The SL75C isn't too bad. I wouldn't use it on guitars personally, but I think it works fine as a sort of sub in for drums.
“Indistinguishable”?? Like night and day, to my ears. The Shure SM57 being night, and the Behring being day.
Do you prefer the day time or night time though?
So little in it! Both absolutely do the job. I'll give the nod to the Shure but that's possibly because it's what I happen to own as a dynamic but I have a Behringer small diaphragm condenser and it is excellent.
Would you rather recommend the Behringer or the Pyle ?
