Thank you for showing us this monument. Almost everyone in my family, for the last 125 years, fought in the Pacific or Asia. In World War 2, eight relatives fought the Japanese, including two uncles who fought to liberate the Philippines. However, I also have one uncle who fought President Aguinaldo on Luzon between 1900 and 1901! Thankfully, the reasons we fought each other are settled (including those from 1898 to 1903) and we can all be good friends and allies now. I am a veteran of the U.S. Army and salute ALL of the other veterans represented by the monument: Japanese, American, and especially Filipino, who have always gallantly defended their homeland against all invaders.
Thank you so much Alabama Techwriter! That is such an impressive history! And thank you and your family for your service to both our nations. Happy Holidays!
Thank you, a beautiful video showing how peoples of the world can come together after conflict. I`m an englishman hoping to come and live in your country, my son is marrying a lady from Manilla in March. I was to move at the same time but the conflict in europe has changed my plans. Take care of those close to you and be kind to all. Much love from France x
My father was in world war 2 in Europe in the Army, I had an uncle in New Guinea, my other uncle fought in the Philippines in WW2. I served 1982-1988 with the US Navy That is such a site to see for sure. Hopefully they end up repairing and repainting the monument
Thank you and your family so much Ted for serving! I think they will now that the US military has a larger presence. But we Filipinos appreciate the US from the heart! :-)
Heck of a place to have a battle...I was in some austere and undesirable areas over 25 years of active duty in the USA Army...Retired 23+ years ago and haven't looked back...My battles/deployments were in Eastern Europe, Middle East, and ancillary support to Africa, etc. It's fitting that this memorial was built, and thanks for showing us this site...I'd like to visit it as well...There is a lot to see around you...Nice! Can't wait to get back there! 👍😎👍 ☕ 🙏
I can’t express how much I like your vlogs. They are so artistic, informative , creative and inspiring. Where did you learn the skills of your craft? Keep posting the great content. Thanks.
Thanks for showing that to us. Interesting that it is a memorial to all 3 countries, since it would seem very difficult for Filipinos to forgive the Japanese for the horrors of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. I suppose time allows for such forgiveness - Americans now visit as tourists to Vietnam, and what the US did to the Vietnamese is unconscionable. I will definitely make that difficult trek up to the memorial when I visit! The landscaping around the memorial appeared nicely kept but to my eye the memorial itself appeared weathered and unmaintained. Is that an accurate observation? Again, great job in revealing another location in your country that is more than worth the visit.
Thank you so much Greg for your thoughtful and insightful words! Yes, I think it is definitely worth the visit! It's a very moving place, and it's good for us all to move forward.
Another beautiful spot. Do your daughters ever go hiking with you? Or, are these walks your special alone time? If you found a life partner would you welcome them on these walks or keep them to yourself? No judgement either way. 😊
in 1976 I was station Dito in Olongapo under martial law I was in town the first night it started in 1972 was a very beautiful place then and now but could be dangerous at that time then , and even more in ww2 many Filipinos, army marines, and many lost their lives in WW2 at that time If not for the Negretos The strongest jungle fighters at the time it could have been worse but thank God those days are over and hope they never return
Thank you for the history Michael and for being there back then! Yes, I hope we can stay safe and live in peace, and never see war here, or anywhere, again.
Nice tour, it looks as though not much has been done in terms of the upkeep of this monument, such a beautiful place, thanks for taking us along to see it.
I agree, Dharri. Hoping that once the infrastructure is finished, the municipality focuses not only for the upkeeping of the concrete obelisk but the entire area.
Have you considered starting an ASMR channel reading old calming stories? Your voice is beautiful; do you sing well also or is it in narration only that your strength lies?
Hello, thank you so much for the compliment. I love ASMR videos. I think my strongest point is speaking. Singing for me would be like a cow stuck in the mud.
Hello, Robin. If you opt to do it the easy way, and if you're confident enough to drive a motorcycle, I would highly suggest you rent a bike. If not, you can hire a habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) from the base (main road), but it's going to cost you. I have no idea of the fare though.
I always enjoy your tours. Although it's sad to think of all the lives lost and that this beautiful country was once a battlefield. Also, congratulations on your growing channel.
Shay, is that Shrine where there is an Orphanage? Quality on your camera is awesome. I really like the one short that you did where it looks like the leaves are falling look like snow.
Hello, Glenn. Are you talking about an orphanage that was here before? There is no current orphanage in this area, as far as I know. I might be wrong though. Thank you for appreciating my work. That means a lot.
@@reflections_with_Shay Not sure either. Participated in a Christmas Party for the orphans that was located near the Shrine, last year. Been watching TH-cam videos for over a year, trying to get some background prior to my arrival in Negros Oriental.
Hello, Folks!
Thank you for your continued support.
