    You have a lifetime more experience with heave equipment than I do. I recently switched the front rims around on my JD 3025E. Now they have about 2-3 more inches of width on each side. It has really helped out the stabilization and I did not have buy wheel spacers. This past week I’ve been working on a steep side hill. While I did not like it, it made the tractor far more stable. Oh and get a quick hitch! You’ll love it. Super easy switching implements. Thanks for putting out great videos.

    Rolled my first (and hopefully only 🤞🏼) tractor when I was 18yrs old. It was a 40 horse John Deere. You never forget it. Thankfully I WASNT buckled as I jumped from the seat (all I could think of was the tractor landing on my legs as I leapt) because when the tractor landed, the seat was smeared down 3’ of the trunk of a big birch tree. Had I been buckled it would’ve been me (maybe the ONLY EXCEPTION when it comes to not being buckled - ALWAYS wear your seatbelt like you were!!!) Listen to your “spidey senses” when you’re side hilling and back down them vs turning/side hilling at all. Glad you’re ok. Like I said, I can still see it like it was yesterday (when it was 27 years ago) my full load of gravel starting to slide sideways out of my bucket in slow motion wondering what in the hell was happening until my next thought was JUMP!!!! Lol

    Note for the future:
    Always wait at least 24 hours after getting the machine upright before trying to crank. On it's side oil from the crankcase slowly leaks past the piston rings and fills the cylinder. If you crank in this condition, it's not uncommon to bend a connecting rod or damage other components in the rotating assembly. If you really want to reduce the risk of hydrolocking, remove the glow plugs and crank to expel the oil.
    First instinct is to upright the machine, start it, and get it out of there. That reaction can be costly.

    New owner of a 1025R here,
    These suckers can tip easy, The dealer told me that 15 degrees is max, ( I believe that JD is just covering their butt ).
    I put a level gauge on my dash and have gone 25°, I have stacked weights on rear tires and I’m presently installing front weights to give it a lower center of gravity.
    I was on a slight grade 10 degrees or so, and I just dumped a load of brush.
    The loader was about a third of the way up, I backed up quick and cut the wheel to the right, the next thing I knew, my right rear tire was coming up off the ground.
    Mower deck was still on too.

    I also survived a roll. I was too close to the edge of a fresh digout for a basement to a house. Ground gave out as i drove by. The only way for me to bail was to jump further out than the tractor could roll. It was an old ford with no ropes. Had a massive bruise on my leg. It all happened so fast that i have no idea exactly what caused the bruise. Glad you are okay!

      Is it possible to just remove the spark plugs pump out the oil and then fill more oil into the tank and check the level? Or do you basically have to let the tractor sit for a few days after it's been righted

      Shain Andrews Seriosly? It’s a Diesel... there are no spark plugs, only injectors. The rule of thumb I’ve heard is to let the tractor sit where it is for 24 hours to let all the fluids flow back to where they should go.

      @@66Oliver Yeah buddy I know that. My post applies to any engine. I'm not lazy and will not assume a cylinder self clears for a given period of time. Not worth the risk when all a guy has to do is pull an injector, glow plug, or spark plug to clear a cylinder.

    There`s why and how a ROPS works, and of course, seat belts.

The shredder should ride on the tail wheel before it rides on front skids. If you are on level ground try and adjust your mower and three point so that it sits level or tipped back just a hair and it won't scrape the ground. In turn it helps keep wieght on tractor. May or may not help. Just looked a little funny in video.

    and this is why it bugs me when I see guys operating with the ROPS bar folded down on machines where it can fold for transport or storage ( and having a 1050 with a fixed bar, that's a handy option )
    "...I was just mowing and..."
    Your telling this story is all the justification the ROPS should ever need.....it may have seemed slow to you in the seat ( fight or flight reaction etc) but I'll bet it went over pretty fast to anyone watching, once they go over center, they just go.
    Very glad you are alright. Must have been quite the ride. Staying put and NOT trying to jump clear as it went over must have taken about all the guts you had and maybe some of your kindly neighbor's as well. People get hurt that way.
    Sure hope that the engine drains and that's all it is.
    Good Luck and thanks for sharing the teaching moment with us all !!

    I've had my Kubota for thirty four years now, and have "rolled" it twice. Both times I wasn't wearing the seat belt, and kinda rolled out on the ground....thank God for the ROPS!! I shut the engine off immediately and righted the tractor as quickly as possible. No damage either time except the battery leaked acid and had to be cleaned up/replenished. My tires are filled with liquid which gives you more confidence on hills. One time my front tire found a hole the other my rear tire found a rock, which is all it takes when you're that close to the limit!!!

    Glad you are ok! Curious if you could take a moment to determine the`pitch of that area, degrees or drop over a distance. This information could help some of us in similar situation stay safe. I also think I remembering you saying that your tires are NOT filled/ballasted? Any thoughts on wheel weights since they are somewhat easier to remove? Cheers!

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I bought the tractor they had a used set of wheel extenders the weights around 400 pounds that I was going to buy but they sold right before my tractor was ready. I need to look into something or stay out of that area.

      @@NorthwestSawyer Widening out the wheelbase width as wide as possible would also greatly help with the tractor's side stability. Narrow compact tractors have no business being on side hills. I've seen them rolled over far too often, and I've seen people die on them as well. Not cool.
      Additionally, that loader also puts the center of gravity of that tractor up even higher. Being that it's a quick attach loader, take it off when you're mowing!
      Enough people have already spoke of additional tire ballast and extra iron weights, etc. So, no need to beat that dead horse.
      Glad you survived. Let this be a lesson and don't do it again! Nobody wants to read about you in the obituaries! Be safe, you only get 1 short life in this world.

    First of all thank God you weren't hurt! Second of all thank God I was not there! The second you went for the starter you would have been relieved of command. 60K straps are great, if you can get away with it never use a chain. Let that tractor sit with the glow plugs out of it, oil filter off and drain plug out. The next day try turning it over "manually" unhook power source. Live and learn, it's all we can do. I'm glad it happened slow and you didn't lose your head. Next time bring your arms to your chest. the wheel could turn with force and break limbs. Better yet no more next times! lol

  • @davidlees4900

    Glad you were not Injured. The land looks very steep. Did you have ballast in your tires? My understanding of direction one should travel on the hill would be up and down not across. Not an expert here, new tractor owner learning myself. I have steep property also

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was mowing perpendicular to the slope. However, I went to turn around at the bottom of the slope where my smaller tractor would have no problem. This new one was a bit too wide for the area and it just slowly went over. I don’t have fluid in the tires yet.

    First of all, I'm glad you're ok and also glad you had the guts to post it. It's a good lesson for everyone. With ROPS up, wear your seat belt. Any idea how steep the slope was? The camera never shows it accurately, but when you were beside it, putting it in neutral, you could tell it was pretty steep.

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn’t flat ground but it wasn’t very steep either. I think a rear tire rode up on something covered in the grass as I was turning around and it was just barely enough to send me over. It was almost slow motion.

    Last year an older cousin’s husband drowned when his tractor overturned like yours, pinning him in a shallow pond on his property. The tractor sank at a soft spot causing it to roll over. A passerby had seen him cutting and later saw the tractor wheels up. 911 was called and they found he had drowned. I saw your thumbnail and thought I’d mention this for others to see.
