    I just got his biography in soft cover, choke full of awesome pictures from the turn of the century. Indians he knew personally that were actually at Custer's Last Stand. He was personal friends with Sitting Bull and Chief Iron Eyes Cody. He was so impressive and a real cowboy!!!

    Howdy y'all....just out of pure curiosity, I went to the trouble of looking up how much an authentic "ten gallon hat" might run today....top of the line of course. Any guesses? $800....who knew cowpunchin' could pay so well? Cheers from paniolo country...Kauai.

      Howdy Thanks for watching. The Hopalong Cassidy movies started in 1935 so this movie was released a year after Hoppy started. But many of the films we post are pre Bill Boyd Hopalong Cassidy.

    Cool movie. Bob, one question why did the movie Cowboys throw the bullets out of the guns? Thanks.

    • @westernsontheweb
      @westernsontheweb  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not sure. It could have something to do with having to cock the pistol because they are single action. BUT Gabby Hayes seems to be the best at throwing the bullets. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @josepocos
      @josepocos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@westernsontheweb It came from shooting cap and ball revolvers earlier. You threw the gun back over your shoulder to make sure the fired cap clears and does not jam the action. The action carried over to cartridge guns. It is also easier to cock the gun and get it back on target that way, although they exaggerate it in movies.

    Interesting to note that Tim was almost fifty years old when this movie was made. He certainly doesn't look it.

    • @JB-171
      @JB-171 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think he ever lost the silent pictures acting method with the eyes and facial expressions.

    • @DavidSmith-sb2ix
      @DavidSmith-sb2ix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JB-171 I agree. Another good example of that is Hoot Gibson.

      @@DavidSmith-sb2ix He doesn't look 50? I'd have to disagree. Plus, I wonder just how much makeup he wore in these pictures. I love him, no matter the age.
