  • Hahnemuhle UK were one of many stands I visited at the London Stationery Show. They gave me some samples of their new papers to test, the results of which I will post later, as well as a couple of miniature Zig Zag books. These books are just great fun measuring 5cm x 5cm.
Using a Toms Studio pocket pen with the ultra flex nib and Write and Draw Blue Chameleon, I’ve attempted to illustrate a rustic scene of country folk summiting a mountain. I think this maybe have been a hangover from my recent visit to Snowdonia and/or having just finished The High Mountain by Nan Shepherd - which I totally recommend.
I then created the mountain silhouettes and sky with my own Twilight Black ink, water and bleach using a brush. The flex nib allows for real line economy. The human and animal shapes are not graphic. They are simple with just about enough visual clues to suggest what they are supposed to be.
The textured watercolour paper responds very well to both pigmented and dye based fountain pen inks.
