Thank you for putting up with me. The bike is together. Everything is great.. well sort of. The issue was the two parts that go into the drum cage, the little pizza cutters. One that should have been on first, underneath, wasn't. Such a little thing caused a world of trouble. The bike, of course, wont start. However the gears and clutch and cylinder, compression, kick etc are perfect.
I always hated to do anything beyond a 2stroke top end. I would always forget where stuff came from and get confused. If I were doing it now I would be taking tons of photographs or videos with a smartphone. You must either be a trained mechanic or have a good memory and lots of patience with mechanical things. I cannot wait to see your video of putting it all back together and it running again.
Haha definitely not trained, I use parts fiches and video if I get to a point where I forget. I need to start slapping it back together before I forget where everything goes haha
Next time you split a case ! Tap the trans output shaft as you split the cases. You just put that system under a lot of unnecessary stress. Other than that good video.
Nice! The crank is pretty easy with a tusk crank puller after being in the freezer for a while. I was hoping I'd have it done by now but got slammed at work. Hopefully out in the next week or so.
amzn.to/42Yx1BT I've seen it go a little cheaper occasionally on Dennis Kirk. I threw a couple bolts into the legs so they don't fall off. Makes it way easier to spin the whole stand 180.
Know we’re I can get just the gaskets and bearings from? I just gotta replace my crack bearings my crank still good but all I see is rebuild kits!! Please helppp
AllBalls makes a few kits that should cover most of the bearings and seals: www.allballsracinggroup.com/k004-main-bearing-and-seal-kit www.allballsracinggroup.com/tbk0040-transmission-bearing-kit www.allballsracinggroup.com/811412-complete-gasket-kit-with-seals
www.denniskirk.com/motorsport-products/black-gray-engine-stand-60-1002.p1401322.prd/1401322.sku I made a few mods to it. I added thick felt pads to the tray to keep it in place and stop it rattling and I also threw a bolt on one leg to remove some of the play. Pretty happy with it for the price though.
@@GarageAddiction that what im thinking but i clean the threads on the flywheel didn't notice anything. im about to send this engine out to some to rebuild it for me, i really don't got time would like it to spend it riding
Most two strokes are generally pretty similar, I can’t recall if the ktm has a power valve but that would probably be the one thing significantly different

I’m 13 and I’m trying to watch this video like 14 times to know how to rebuild my Kx 65
Awsome I'm 43 I'm doing the same for my 9 year old sons kx65
@@adamcuttler9665 That’s super cool i’m 13 but I’m just gonna fix it and sell it cause I’m a little too big for it
@@Veelad34 Hi, just curious how this went? Did you end up fixing it?
I’m 13 as well just got the bike finished
This is the best man had the same problem now its fixed love
Nice video, I didn't think the crank was pressed into the case. Good thing I found this.
It just needs a little persuasion getting in there, it makes it most of the way if you throw it in the freezer and heat up the bearing.

I am at this point with my sons 65 right now. I’m not quite sure how to press the crank back in properly. Looking forward to the rebuild

After watching this and noticing how many tools i need to buy, i might just pay to have a pro rebuild it lol. Great detailed video though 👌
Once you do it a couple times it gets to be worth it haha. I think I've done 5-6 at this point :)
good work bro we need to see more videos of you teaching us how to repair full engines 4 stroke and 2 stroke
Thanks, I'd love to do more but old tired bikes are selling for dumb money now haha
Great video!!!..just wondering if you know for sure-for all intents and purposes are the kx65 and kx60 engines basically the same?
There are a lot of different parts between the two. From an assembly standpoint they're not that different but not much transfers between the two.
Great video!! Where did you get the tool to split the case?
Thanks! I grabbed it from amazon amzn.to/3OmCdbc
Can you drop a link on your stand that you use to hold up the engine?

Is it possible to remove the crank without having to take out the clutch and gears?
You have to pull the clutch. You can try to leave the transmission in but it'll most likely fall out when splitting the cases.
@@GarageAddiction cool thank you. My son's 65 seized up and I need to rebuilt it. Already pulled the motor out now I'm dreading taking it apart
What is the link to that engine mount ? Seems super useful

I was wondering what ratio of gas oil mix you were using.
32:1 motul 710 in 4 gal 91 with 1 gal C12 blend
So for the 2008 what pitch should I buy mine flywheel remover tool? I bought the one in your description and there different
The M27x1 LH listed in the description should work on all kx65 years, maybe they sent the wrong one over?
@@GarageAddiction it say 27x1 LH, when I try to thread it in it don’t bite
@@8300rpmallday it's a left handed thread too (just covering bases) but also maybe the threads are messed up on the flywheel?

Weisco cranks don't last long in 65s . I probably have a good oem one
Previous owner went with Weisco, I'm giving hotrods a chance before sticking with OEM which is my preferred option.
Were you running VP " gas " ? I've noticed that VP seems to be highly corrosive
Yeah I've been running 1 gallon of VP c12 to every 4 of 91 octane.
is this about the same as a ktm 65

What year is the motor?
2005
yea fuck all that way to many parts i doubt the guy even put it back together right
