    This is actually awesome!! The easier it is to set up a server with the apps you want, the more people will do it and the less people will need big tech companies!

    To be honest, as a software developer I never directly interact with Docker. Nowadays it’s all Kubernetes or Openshift. Docker is just the lowest component in this deployment stack. And depenending on your technology stack, the docker files can be automatically generated for you (in my case, it is). So the “only” UI we usually use are Kubernetes dashboard or something similar and something like Harbor to see whether the images are correctly created and saved.

    docker is such a cool app no matter how you interface with it!

    More Yacht content. It's so easy to use. I love it. Great video. Thank you 🙂

    I love how app Devs use names that are close to the thing it's associated with. (Wine -> Grapejuice)

      Took me way too long to come up with the name. Was looking through all kinds of words relating to docks/boating in various languages but finally figured that Yacht was easy and not taken.

    Do you have a video on what distro you are using and what theming you use?

    If you're interested in this, it might be good to compare it to caprover, in terms of functionality it looks pretty similar

    May I know what Linux Retro you’re using in this video? The interface looks great!

    Still would like to have a GUI for podman. An integration of containers into virt-manager would be actually nice, especially when apps in the containers use a GUI too.

    I'm still trying to wrap my head around the power that Docker has. I can use it instead of dealing with VMs to run applications for a server i want to build soon.

    Sounds very straightforward. Can it be used with Swarm? Or should it be used with docker Swarm?

    Thanks Brandon. I've been playing about with docker lately mostly through Novaspirits pi-hosted series. Is Yacht just like Portainer though? Its like a docker within a docker?

      No it just makes it eay to setup a program within docker. Pretty much single click deploys.

    You're only deploying these apps on a single machine, right? So, why are you containerizing them? What exactly do you gain as a home user from deploying apps as Docker containers? I can understand why large-scale enterprises would benefit from such an approach, but a single user on one or two machines? Please explain. Thanks.

    • @sidward
      @sidward 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no the point of docker is removing the overhead of traditional vms!
