I am not surprised you not heard about Angola. African tunes are becoming popular but only for english speaking countries. Angolans speak portuguese, therefore our songs don't get as much cover. We have really good music and dances styles. I can send you few to react to if you want.

If you make music to be played in your country alone you can't consider yourself the best marketing allone is 70% of the music business.
No south african artist can sell out any venues outside south africa that is no being the best.

The DNA companies have been messing with black Americans making them think that slavery was in west Africa when slavery never even began there. These DNA companies only take samples from west Africa knowing pretty well that west Africans are not Bantu but nilotes like the Sudanese. There is no difference between a Sudanese and a Senegalese. Nigerian music has no background history to it but just coping Jamaican genre.

South Africa is number 1. From Kwaito, Gqom, House, Amapiano etc. Amapiano has blown up and other countries are also adopting it. Nigerian is well marketed and yes there are good but they will never come close to us when it comes to vocals if we were to be fair.

Angola is definitely number 1, they are rather obscured because the international media gravitates more to Anglophone music compared to other languages.
I grew up in Kenya listening to Congolese music and Oliver Mtukudzi of Zimbabwe.
My favorite song from Angola has to be the popular Windeck by Cabo Snoop.

This is such misinformation about Amapiano. I've noticed that these youtubers must be Nigerian for how they always say it is infused with Afrobeats which is wrong. Amapiano comes a long way, and if they did their research about the history they'd understand exactly how it came about, it's there for everyone to know. The Nigerian artists are the ones who found a way to infuse the two, not the other way around
South Africa is my No.1
As a Zambian, No country come close to South African music. They take the reigns. Nigerian music is just being more marketed but South African music be it Kwaito, House or Amapiano etc is by far better than Nigerian. Also in my personal opinion Nigerians aren't that good Singers, there is no wow in their vocals. The beats and autotune compensate for the lack of vocals. (Yes they gon come for me but it's facts). South Africa has serious vocalist that can blow.
