    Sorry to hear about the rain! I’m sure the triplets will be fine. You can now refer to them as water buckets as well as light buckets 😅. Image looks great. The OIII and Ha really do this target justice contrasting the reds and blues. Love it ❤

      🤣🤣🤣 water buckets.
      Rumour has it the Triple RASA system is that powerful it turns clears skies to rain!
      I agree, I’d love to expand on it and see what else it can add to the image.

      Hi mate, it’s a slow process. Won’t be in it before the end of the year I feel. Early next year I think.

    • @WideField
      @WideField ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yours is going up much faster than ours! Still haven’t finalised the plans but hoping we will still be in the new abode by Xmas 24. No luck with land for an observatory. Thinking it might be prudent to wait until after the bush fire season and hopefully score some cheaper land that doesn’t require tree clearing for several years!

    • @StevenMorrisPhotography
      @StevenMorrisPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      @WideField yeah it could be a very dangerous summer.
      SA doesn’t seem as bad as the other states but it’s still a long drawn out process. I hope everything goes smoothly for you and your able to get that observatory up for your setup.

      @@StevenMorrisPhotography Thanks Steve. I will also need to be extra careful (longer travel time) as there are so many kangaroos and wallabies around! Will need to have an Apollo 13 roll of Gaffer tape in my vehicle just in case!

    I always use an older laptop on my night stand that is remoted into my main imaging laptop and have the volume turned up so when PHd2 starts to ding due to clouds I will wake up and open the lid of the laptop and see what is happening. If the ding stays constant then I know it's not just a passing cloud and will load up the local doppler radar and see exactly what is going on. Great image in the end, congrats and clear skies.

    Yeah, rain, been there, had that ..., it took a while to have my edge8 completely dry, after draining out the water it kept fogging up, so I had to let it dry with the front off for several days in the sun. Hope all you gear will be ok !

    Arrgh I know the feeling. I've been rained on twice, once a torrential downpour and man, I was a blur pulling down the rig so fast and getting it inside. Amazingly this gear we have is pretty resilient and everything worked the next night. Hope all goes well getting the water out of the RASA's - does not sound like a fun job.

    Cracking image mate sorry to hear about the RASA's getting wet, the RASA I had got waterlogged by the previous owner when the roof got ripped off the observatory & literally flooded the place. Shouldn't be to bad to sort out just watch the matt black paint inside the tube as I think its water based & washes off. If yours looks ok just dry it naturally & don't wipe it or the paint can rub off.
    Hope it helps clears skies & good luck.

Nothing that a little drainage and desiccants couldn't fix 🙂 If you end up cracking one of the RASAs open, would make for a good video as a water logged telescopes is everyone's fear! Do you look one or 2-3 weather forecast sites. I am terrifying of rain during “clear night”.
    It looks majority of astrophotographers in Australia taking pictures of Dragon; Statue Liberty; and Tarantula nebulas. Are they so popular? Are they bright?

    • @StevenMorrisPhotography
      @StevenMorrisPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I do usually look at multiple however that night I was confident it would be clear.
      A lot of those targets are really high in the night sky at the moment, that’s why you’ll see a lot of images coming through like that.

    Well, this sucks - sorry mate. But with the kind of investment you have made into your gear, it's probably time for a roll-off roof hut to host your equipement. There are some commercial options, including a motorized roof with ASCOM support - and then couple that to an environmental sensor to have NINA initiate a shut-down should it start to rain. Or a Baader AllSky Dome, if the pockets are deep enough ;)
