This was the performance when I stopped saying, "for her age". She is as good as some and better than most adult singers. I loved your analysis and your appreciation of her talent. I think she was probably told not to look directly at the camera, but her last side glance and smile intensify the connection with the viewers. Nothing to add to your response to the remarkable ending. "WOW!" and "wow" again sums it up nicely.
It would be interesting to perform a test or a study by picking. What are considered to be the top 4 best at this song (2 males, 2 femaled) and then preparing that blind blind eared, or whatever the word is, with angelina's version as well to see how they all rank, 100 people, or so, audio only, live performances only, the 5 singers with great accompaniment, randomly played for each test subject..
Her breath control is off the charts, but she doesn't always show it. Some songs she takes breaths after every few words to convey vulnerability & emotion, but then she can turn around & sing a song where she holds a full belt for 15-16 seconds. Whatever it takes to make a song amazing, she can do it with her giant toolbox of vocal skills. Great analysis, Jack, thanks!
Angelina is a rare combination of someone who is humble, but who has confidence in her abilities. You’re right-you can see that in many of her performances where she shows us her amazing talent, but is shy when she finishes and the crowd is roaring their approval. This performance is one of her most amazing. She is in full control, out in front of that beautiful orchestra, leading the way with jazzy, confident vocals. We again get her own take on a classic jazz tune, and it’s more than we could have expected or imagined.
Angelina always gives us a sense of supreme confidence and humility at the same time. Her unconditional love of music is undeniable. Certainly, she experiences difficulties in her life, just like we all do. She inspires us to embrace positivity and use it to deal with any problem, so we can return to feeling good and sing another song.

Hello again, Jack. Thank you so much for an excellent reaction 🙂 As for her personality, you are absolutely spot on. She is extremely shy and what you may call introverted. But not within close quarters, where she is incredibly loving, caring and an extrovert 🙂Her extreme musical understanding was very obvious from a VERY young age, even earlier than age 10. I have been thinking that the lighting may have bothered her as well in this TV recording, as the rest of the room seems to be a bit dark, but I don't know. Here, when she finally DID look at the camera, the camera was on her far left. She has never really looked into the camera, so it's something that doesn't come naturally for her. However, she HAS been working on it. If you take a look at her video for "Now I'm The Fool" it becomes rather apparent. The performance is an absolute masterpiece, even if it had been performed by an adult, and of course even more so when you take her age into consideration. Actually (as you know), in one of her first "live" TV appearances - her first talk show appearance after "blowing up" on NGT, not broadcast live, but "recorded live" - she had the opposite problem: she looked into the camera too much. Every time she noticed the shot switching to a new camera, she turned her whole body to face into that camera. It was so cute… She was probably advised afterwards that she shouldn't do that.
Most consider Nina Simone's rendition ti be the 'Gold Standard' for this song, but to me, Angelina at 10 years of age, produces what I consider to be the 'Platinum Standard' for this song. Her arrangement brings the orchestra to life in just the perfect way, and when combined with her vocals, the result is mind boggling.

Gosto demais da Angelina, a acompanho desde os 8 anos, e sim, ela é bem introvertida e eu acho isso lindo, muitas vezes criança que ganham fama ficam insuportáveis, com ego muito inflado, ela na infância se manteve humilde, com sua personalidade introvertida, voltada a sua família e vejo isso com bons olhos. Acho que depois da republic records eles tentaram mudar isso, tentaram muito glamour e acho que não combinou, Angelina passava humildade, pés descalços, movimentos sociais e humanos, bem diferente da riqueza e glamour que ela tenta passar hoje. Mas continua cantando muito, só quero o melhor para ela, acho ela muito nova, vai amadurecer muito ainda.

Well aware after 7+ years of listening to Angelina the vast skills she possesses and all the tools she has in her vocal tool box. This is a big favorite of all of her fans so thanks for this one. BTW, she has been in front of camera's since she was a baby and as you can see when the camera pans around her in this performance she looks right into it, even with a shy smile. This fabulous performance is one reason why so many of Angelina's followers/fans love her music so much. We also know what kind of person this beautiful singer is, and the combination of her voice and her person embeds deeply in our heart and it won't let go. All that mush talk to say we like her a lot. I think you kind of agree, but you talk strange.
Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction. There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice. (2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move. (3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus. (4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance. (5) That wonderful crescendo at the end. (6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance (7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand. (8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 2.56 in your reaction video. (9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!" (10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause. Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different
I believe these younger performances, up to maybe 14-15, vocal presentation was more natural, real, honest, and clear, whereas in more recent years we hear a more sultry, increasingly less clear, less definitive pronunciation. I personally preferred the more clear vocals but I also understand she loves to explore her vocal options and abilities as she continues to develop her styles. One of the great things about AJ is she is so versatile with so many available styles.

And hER own song MILLION MILES, which is not the black and white studio version, but this is also the 2020. Norway's concert video, in a long white dress. It's funny how from this age (10, almost 11) onwards, it was hard to imagine how her voice could get any better. (As you pointed out, there was already a certain adult quality to it even at this young of an age.) And yet, somehow, basically every year, she sounded noticeably more mature. Even now, I still find myself thinking that her voice can't possibly get better than it is now, at 17. I mean, I know it will… I just can't imagine how.
Tienes razón, los que la seguimos más tiempo podemos identificar algunos "tiks" cuando está nerviosa, o hace o se prepara para un rift complicado. Por ejemplo, cando interpreta "You are always in my mind" en honor a su abuelo, ves que comienza a recogerse el pelo tras la oreja antes de que manifieste totalmente su estado de emoción. You are absolutely right, she is an introvert, well at least it's what I think. I think this because she had fumbled words before when she had to speak to the public. And because I am an introvert so I know how it is, I would say she is definitely an introvert. And it takes time for introverts to feel safe and comfortable speaking to public. But when they are sure to whom they are speaking to and how much the public likes you and loves you and what you are doing, they start feeling more safe, secure and comfortable.... Now she is better at it as she goes live on her phone for the fans every once in a while. I know this because I am that way too. Thanks Jack for this awesome reaction. God Bless
I saw that at Portsmouth. I have all confidence in her, yet she still has a ways to go as far as public speaking. I've never fully understand introvert/extravert, since l am neither.
@@MICHAELASHER. It's like being afraid of what you might say that can either hurt someone or make you feel embarrassed. Introvert person tends to like being alone at home do stuff that he likes and that you can do alone, whereas an extravert is the complete opposite. Extravert is a person who would like being in the presence of as much people as possible, meaning they would go out of the house more often to meet people to talk to. It doesn't mean that the person is lacking socialism and can be treated, it's rather of a person being that way as born as an introvert. Myself for example the quieter it is at my house the better whereas when there's a lot of noise and a lot of people speaking at once it bothers me and I leave to another room.

@@TroyArchAngel Got it. The reason l said what l did is, there are times l feel introvert ( I'm an artist so, l like private time) then there are times l want to mingle with people. A party would be a good determiner of those behaviors. Perhaps some people swing heavily to one side than the other, l think l fall in the middle. Example, on a conversational level Angie seems introverted, and then she SINGS.

Exceptional. While not the first time she had a camera circling around her, it must be just a bit distracting. I think the camera and cameraman got in the way of her view of the audience so she looked down left and then recalled herself to look directly at the camera.
When she looks away from the camera as it is sweeping around her, I suspect there is actually a "good reason" for that, and that it wasn't her general "shyness" that made her look away. Notice how the camera appears to be a steadicam carried by a person (such a person is visible in at least one of the wide shots), not a "remotely piloted" camera, say, suspended on some kind of cable system. Note also how the camera movement pauses briefly just as she looks down and to her left. Earlier in the same shot, you can see that in that same direction at the edge of the stage there is a large floor monitor (i.e., speaker). Therefore, I suspect that something was happening with the camerperson in relation to that monitor that caught her attention. Since that was the point at which the camera changed from pointing forwards to pointing backwards relative to its direction of movement, perhaps the cameraperson actually changed from walking forwards to walking backwards (I guess that would depend on how the harness mechanism worked, exactly), and so Angelina was looking to see whether they were going to avoid running into the monitor. Or maybe a second person came on stage to help guide the cameraperson for the second half of the shot, and that's what (/who) she glanced at. In any case, whatever the explanation might be, ISTM that one of the less likely scenarios is that it was her "shyness" that caused her to look away from the camera. I mean, she simply is not shy when she's singing: she's "in character" (or at least "in the song"). Also, keep in mind that she has been singing "on camera" for almost her entire life (since 1½) - and more specifically had been singing in front of TV cameras for about 3 years when she gave this performance, including cases where a TV camera was making this same kind of "sweeping around her head" move (although, granted, not quite as close and "in her face" as the camera was here). OTOH, you are correct (extrapolating slightly from what you said) that she typically "directs her energy" (so to speak) more inwards when she sings - closing her eyes at "key moments" in the song, for example - rather than outwards towards the audience (or the camera). I'm sure she has been "coached" to do more of the latter, and this seems to be reflected in her latest music videos and live performances.

Ti ho consigliato 2 brani del concerto di Kongsberg ( age 16 and half) ora te ne do altri 2. Age 6, she enters,for the first time, a professional recording studio and covers I who have nothing by Tom Jones and Skyfall, then a video when she is 18mo grabbing the mike from Grandma Meri ( her inspiration and artistic Mentor) and shouts out a Whitney's song. Le tue analisi tecniche rispecchiano esattamente quello che ho sentito da molti reactors di lingua inglese( fry, vibrato, grit, growl, timing, breath and voice Control). Lei conosce perfettamente all the singing technics known to man and maybe a couple more e sono tutte innate in lei. She was born ro sing. Ciao. All'età di 10 anni Angelina ha ricevuto una canzone da Baby Fuzz inedita dal titolo "I'm still holding out for you " con la preghiera di dare a questa canzone un connotato,una impronta personale. Detto fatto Angelina la registra ma prima di pubblicarla interviene la famiglia che ne impedisce l'uscita perchè il tema della canzone viene ritenuto troppo delicato per una bambina. Da li sembrò nascere un battibecco con Baby Fuzz ma dopo poco le cose si aggiustarono e quando il video di Angelina trapelò in qualche modo nel Web entrambe le parti lo accettarono senza polemiche. Ti metto il link del video realizzato da un fan nel commento sotto perche se youtube dovesse cancellare il link ti rimane questo commento per cercare da te la canzone che è ad appannaggio esclusivo dell'autore del video, cioè Gustavo dey Ermoy Parres. Qualche mese dopo anche Baby Fuzz ne fa uscire una versione in cui sfrutta i connotati dati da Angelina alla canzone. A mio avviso è una delle migliori interpretazioni di quel periodo per una straordinaria Angelina Jordan che sembra "sentire" quel testo come lo avesse vissuto personalmente. Da non perdere. This was the performance when I stopped saying, "for her age". She is as good as some and better than most adult singers. I loved your analysis and your appreciation of her talent. I think she was probably told not to look directly at the camera, but her last side glance and smile intensify the connection with the viewers. Nothing to add to your response to the remarkable ending. "WOW!" and "wow" again sums it up nicely.
It would be interesting to perform a test or a study by picking. What are considered to be the top 4 best at this song (2 males, 2 femaled) and then preparing that blind blind eared, or whatever the word is, with angelina's version as well to see how they all rank, 100 people, or so, audio only, live performances only, the 5 singers with great accompaniment, randomly played for each test subject..
Her breath control is off the charts, but she doesn't always show it. Some songs she takes breaths after every few words to convey vulnerability & emotion, but then she can turn around & sing a song where she holds a full belt for 15-16 seconds. Whatever it takes to make a song amazing, she can do it with her giant toolbox of vocal skills. Great analysis, Jack, thanks!

Hello again, Jack. Thank you so much for an excellent reaction 🙂 As for her personality, you are absolutely spot on. She is extremely shy and what you may call introverted. But not within close quarters, where she is incredibly loving, caring and an extrovert 🙂Her extreme musical understanding was very obvious from a VERY young age, even earlier than age 10. I have been thinking that the lighting may have bothered her as well in this TV recording, as the rest of the room seems to be a bit dark, but I don't know. Here, when she finally DID look at the camera, the camera was on her far left. She has never really looked into the camera, so it's something that doesn't come naturally for her. However, she HAS been working on it. If you take a look at her video for "Now I'm The Fool" it becomes rather apparent. The performance is an absolute masterpiece, even if it had been performed by an adult, and of course even more so when you take her age into consideration. Actually (as you know), in one of her first "live" TV appearances - her first talk show appearance after "blowing up" on NGT, not broadcast live, but "recorded live" - she had the opposite problem: she looked into the camera too much. Every time she noticed the shot switching to a new camera, she turned her whole body to face into that camera. It was so cute… She was probably advised afterwards that she shouldn't do that.

Gosto demais da Angelina, a acompanho desde os 8 anos, e sim, ela é bem introvertida e eu acho isso lindo, muitas vezes criança que ganham fama ficam insuportáveis, com ego muito inflado, ela na infância se manteve humilde, com sua personalidade introvertida, voltada a sua família e vejo isso com bons olhos. Acho que depois da republic records eles tentaram mudar isso, tentaram muito glamour e acho que não combinou, Angelina passava humildade, pés descalços, movimentos sociais e humanos, bem diferente da riqueza e glamour que ela tenta passar hoje.

Well aware after 7+ years of listening to Angelina the vast skills she possesses and all the tools she has in her vocal tool box. This is a big favorite of all of her fans so thanks for this one. BTW, she has been in front of camera's since she was a baby and as you can see when the camera pans around her in this performance she looks right into it, even with a shy smile. This fabulous performance is one reason why so many of Angelina's followers/fans love her music so much. We also know what kind of person this beautiful singer is, and the combination of her voice and her person embeds deeply in our heart and it won't let go. All that mush talk to say we like her a lot. I think you kind of agree, but you talk strange.
Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction.
There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 2.56 in your reaction video.
(9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!"
(10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

I believe these younger performances, up to maybe 14-15, vocal presentation was more natural, real, honest, and clear, whereas in more recent years we hear a more sultry, increasingly less clear, less definitive pronunciation. I personally preferred the more clear vocals but I also understand she loves to explore her vocal options and abilities as she continues to develop her styles. One of the great things about AJ is she is so versatile with so many available styles.

It's funny how from this age (10, almost 11) onwards, it was hard to imagine how her voice could get any better. (As you pointed out, there was already a certain adult quality to it even at this young of an age.) And yet, somehow, basically every year, she sounded noticeably more mature. Even now, I still find myself thinking that her voice can't possibly get better than it is now, at 17. I mean, I know it will… I just can't imagine how.
Remember, this is a 10 year-old.

You are absolutely right, she is an introvert, well at least it's what I think. I think this because she had fumbled words before when she had to speak to the public. And because I am an introvert so I know how it is, I would say she is definitely an introvert. And it takes time for introverts to feel safe and comfortable speaking to public. But when they are sure to whom they are speaking to and how much the public likes you and loves you and what you are doing, they start feeling more safe, secure and comfortable.... Now she is better at it as she goes live on her phone for the fans every once in a while. I know this because I am that way too. Thanks Jack for this awesome reaction. God Bless
I saw that at Portsmouth. I have all confidence in her, yet she still has a ways to go as far as public speaking. I've never fully understand introvert/extravert, since l am neither.
@@MICHAELASHER. It's like being afraid of what you might say that can either hurt someone or make you feel embarrassed. Introvert person tends to like being alone at home do stuff that he likes and that you can do alone, whereas an extravert is the complete opposite. Extravert is a person who would like being in the presence of as much people as possible, meaning they would go out of the house more often to meet people to talk to. It doesn't mean that the person is lacking socialism and can be treated, it's rather of a person being that way as born as an introvert. Myself for example the quieter it is at my house the better whereas when there's a lot of noise and a lot of people speaking at once it bothers me and I leave to another room.

@@TroyArchAngel Got it. The reason l said what l did is, there are times l feel introvert ( I'm an artist so, l like private time) then there are times l want to mingle with people. A party would be a good determiner of those behaviors. Perhaps some people swing heavily to one side than the other, l think l fall in the middle. Example, on a conversational level Angie seems introverted, and then she SINGS.

Exceptional. While not the first time she had a camera circling around her, it must be just a bit distracting. I think the camera and cameraman got in the way of her view of the audience so she looked down left and then recalled herself to look directly at the camera.

When she looks away from the camera as it is sweeping around her, I suspect there is actually a "good reason" for that, and that it wasn't her general "shyness" that made her look away.
Notice how the camera appears to be a steadicam carried by a person (such a person is visible in at least one of the wide shots), not a "remotely piloted" camera, say, suspended on some kind of cable system. Note also how the camera movement pauses briefly just as she looks down and to her left. Earlier in the same shot, you can see that in that same direction at the edge of the stage there is a large floor monitor (i.e., speaker). Therefore, I suspect that something was happening with the camerperson in relation to that monitor that caught her attention. Since that was the point at which the camera changed from pointing forwards to pointing backwards relative to its direction of movement, perhaps the cameraperson actually changed from walking forwards to walking backwards (I guess that would depend on how the harness mechanism worked, exactly), and so Angelina was looking to see whether they were going to avoid running into the monitor. Or maybe a second person came on stage to help guide the cameraperson for the second half of the shot, and that's what (/who) she glanced at.
In any case, whatever the explanation might be, ISTM that one of the less likely scenarios is that it was her "shyness" that caused her to look away from the camera. I mean, she simply is not shy when she's singing: she's "in character" (or at least "in the song"). Also, keep in mind that she has been singing "on camera" for almost her entire life (since 1½) - and more specifically had been singing in front of TV cameras for about 3 years when she gave this performance, including cases where a TV camera was making this same kind of "sweeping around her head" move (although, granted, not quite as close and "in her face" as the camera was here).
OTOH, you are correct (extrapolating slightly from what you said) that she typically "directs her energy" (so to speak) more inwards when she sings - closing her eyes at "key moments" in the song, for example - rather than outwards towards the audience (or the camera). I'm sure she has been "coached" to do more of the latter, and this seems to be reflected in her latest music videos and live performances.

Age 6, she enters,for the first time, a professional recording studio and covers I who have nothing by Tom Jones and Skyfall, then a video when she is 18mo grabbing the mike from Grandma Meri ( her inspiration and artistic Mentor) and shouts out a Whitney's song. Le tue analisi tecniche rispecchiano esattamente quello che ho sentito da molti reactors di lingua inglese( fry, vibrato, grit, growl, timing, breath and voice Control). Lei conosce perfettamente all the singing technics known to man and maybe a couple more e sono tutte innate in lei. She was born ro sing. Ciao. All'età di 10 anni Angelina ha ricevuto una canzone da Baby Fuzz inedita dal titolo "I'm still holding out for you " con la preghiera di dare a questa canzone un connotato,una impronta personale. Detto fatto Angelina la registra ma prima di pubblicarla interviene la famiglia che ne impedisce l'uscita perchè il tema della canzone viene ritenuto troppo delicato per una bambina. Da li sembrò nascere un battibecco con Baby Fuzz ma dopo poco le cose si aggiustarono e quando il video di Angelina trapelò in qualche modo nel Web entrambe le parti lo accettarono senza polemiche. Ti metto il link del video realizzato da un fan nel commento sotto perche se youtube dovesse cancellare il link ti rimane questo commento per cercare da te la canzone che è ad appannaggio esclusivo dell'autore del video, cioè Gustavo dey Ermoy Parres. Qualche mese dopo anche Baby Fuzz ne fa uscire una versione in cui sfrutta i connotati dati da Angelina alla canzone. A mio avviso è una delle migliori interpretazioni di quel periodo per una straordinaria Angelina Jordan che sembra "sentire" quel testo come lo avesse vissuto personalmente. Da non perdere.
