Ok you're going to have to fill me in on what a ground cherry is exactly. It's definitely a beautiful little papery wrapped fruit! I just so curious about how a pickled cherry fruit would taste.. I don't typically think of pickling fruits!
Ground cherries are in the same family as tomatoes but more similar to a tomatillo. This is the first year I've grown them. It's a really fun plant as it produces a lot but doesn't get very big. Some even grow them in pots. When you're in the garden, it's kinda like having a little gumball machine nearby. You can eat them as you weed!
I've really enjoyed ground cherries. The taste was sweeter than I thought it would be! As for the cookbook, I really like it! I found it at Ollies for $4 a couple years ago and thought it would be good for garden produce. The recipes have been good so far and there are lots of ideas to use up veggies. It's certainly been worth the $4 I paid for it!!
Canning ground cherries??? I found jam and such recipes but NOT ONE recipe for canning plain ground cherries. I did it anyway. Used 1/2 C honey to 2 C water for the syrup and steam canned pints for 15 min. Does anyone have experience with canning ground cherries? NOT JAM
Many years ago my grandma made jam out of them-i didn't like them then but I sure wish I had a jar of that jam now!

It's the fourth year I try to grow ground cherry, no luck so far. I might have missed the episode where you review the cookbook, how did you like it?
