- The 2024 Proton S70 Flagship X is an enigma. On one hand, it’s priced like a B-segment car, on the other, it competes against the likes of other C-segment sedans. So, what gives?
With dimensions that keep it competitive against the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis but a price tag that puts it squarely in the firing range of Honda City and Toyota Vios, just who exactly is Proton aiming for with the S70?
Is it meant to split the B- and C-segments or is it just one of those cars who are neither here nor there - think ‘Jack Of All Trades, Master of None’ scenario. Join Greg as he attempts to find out where exactly the S70 sits and whether it truly is capable of redefining the segment.

No apple car play or aa is not too big a downside, the left door no lock mechanism also not the end of the world, lived with an altis with only right door lock. Biggest consideration will be the lag, can be learnt eventually but still annoying, same with the double up to reverse, can be annoying in a hurry, especially parallel parking on a small and busy road.
Otherwise power numbers and cabin and exteriors definitely trumps the vios and the city, about equal to the new and slightly older civic, just slightly above the altis.
To me, the biggest issue I have is the throttle response when coming out from corners / round abouts. If I can’t trust the car to move when I need it, I think it’s a huge redflag.
the S70 is good without paddle shifter, but i just keep hoping the other car brand not following the steps - imagine Golf Gti without paddle shifter..arghh..😔
unless the pedal issue is resolved, seems like a deal killer isn't it.
can proton engineer re-tune the gear and engine? make it more synchronise. current setup looks like pasang siap kedai ah beng. no touchup here and there ka?
There is a nitpicking point on door lock option for passenger side but there is no comment for no android auto or Apple CarPlay 😂
Add another cylinder, and I'll be going to camp in front of the showroom to order
The gear function need to able to run in all manual mode , hate the auto changing shift. When naik karak, i prefer use 6th gear. Give mooooooowhhh powaaahhhh. From : 3 month owner.
I seldomly use sport mode, I usually use knob shifter for more rev.
2:32 Oh my farking god!! Just use your keyfob to unlock!! Farkin hell
Do you still live in the 90s? No one use keyfob anymore lol
Its a c segment, period.
Mazda3 is a lot cramped than s70 but still c segment.
Corolla is much slower than s70 but still c segment.
Merc A class is much smaller than s70 but still c segment.
Civic has less feature than s70 but still c segment.
Geely and proton has no problem categorizing it as C segment. So why are malaysian car reviewer have that problem?
I am courious if the owner changed the android player, how about all the function that need to go through the player?
Such as sunroof, drive mode etc...
Not accessible anymore
im an owner of the s70 fsx, when sideloading the ACAA, it loads up like an app just like loading the Spotify app, the swipe down and swipe up for car settings still works perfectly. Unless you changed the whole IHU then the settings cant be accessed
@@jensenlim1344 Hi may I ask if you are still able to swipe down to access the driving modes in the autokit app to access AACP? I sideloaded the app but have to go home everytime I want to switch drive modes
@@GrandeNJR yes im still able
@@jensenlim1344 That's weird, which carlinkit dongle are you using and are you on the latest version of autokit?
My only gripe is why it doesn't have paddle shifter like X50
X50 have paddle shifter ?? Are u sure ??
As an owner of X50 i ran to my car to look for the paddle shifter after reading your comments.
Believe me, u will not use the paddle shifter after 2 month purchased the car- sincerely owner of car that have paddle shifter
😅😅 x50...khabor je Xde paddle shift macam preve dgn suprima S....senang
My vios paddle i never use also
This is car for those who hate noisy underpowered na small cc car. 200kmh is doable and plenty of torque down low, coming for person who daily a 72hp bike and 190hp 2500cc car
Lol, you never owned NA small cc car, but said noisy 😂
@@sputnikfreshie3601 i owned axia, myvi, city and tested vios...all scream no go..160kmh already exhausted
@@mr123undead and I owned Lembugini 🤣
Also for the budget of city but want civic power and size.
@@sputnikfreshie3601sorry I have huge disposable income to change car almost every 3years 😢 I guess I'm too rich
Why keep complain here and there
